  1. GSN just optioned it. We'll see if they actually order a season. No such announcement yet, however.
  2. No, GSN owns it. Poker PROductions just produces it for them. I think I'm familiar with all of Mori Eskandani's public statements and I've never heard him say they were shopping HSP. He's said just the opposite, though: that GSN owns it but cash games will get produced under other names, that PAD will have two weeks of cash games, etc. HSP is GSN's unless they sell it (rarely happens). There's plenty of stuff about this on Poker on TV. Search on Poker PROductions or Mori Eskandani on that site and you'll find lots of quotes about HSP.
  3. Absolutely, it could fold. The company has always lost money and its stock trades for less than liquidation value (which means that the management is destroying value). It's probably up to major shareholder Lyle Berman to decide whether they want to continue to try or not. GSN will air the rest of season six. It's season 7, which would start shooting soon, that has no home.
  4. ESPN won't pick it up: they've been cutting back on poker (remember the USPC?). Given that two channels have dropped WPT I'm not as sure as many of you seem to be that they'll get anyone to pick up the show. GSN was losing money on it, and they only paid enough to cover WPT's production costs. GSN owns High Stakes Poker, so I don't think it's coming back. It is possible that someone would buy the intellectual property from GSN, but that would be unusual.
  5. World Poker Tour Looking For A Broadcaster As GSN's Option Expires: GSN's option to air season seven of the World Poker Tour expired Saturday...WPTE is currently in discussions with several major networks to broadcast programming from its landmark seventh season, which kicks off July 11...
  6. Latest report from an insider is that they have not scheduled the filming of a 5th season at this time. It's up to GSN whether they do so.
  7. There's a rumor it'll be filmed in April or May.
  8. No. They haven't even filmed it yet. Poker on TV always lists the upcoming shows.
  9. Old news to people that use the interwebz.
  10. Poker on TV is the only site that tells you what's new. The others are just a long lists of all the poker shows on TV, mostly reruns.WPT Enterprises couldn't find anyone to pay for another season of the PPT. Many poker shows these days are time buys, though some, like the WPT, still sell their content. The PPL was canceled because of UIGEA fallout: their sponsors evaporated.
  11. No, I don't believe they'll do the TOC any more.
  12. Comcast DVRs are junk, but I haven't had that particular problem. Have you called CS and gotten them to send a reset signal? I find that's necessary periodically.
  13. From Poker on TV: * July 10 at 8 and 9 pm: Event 1, World Championship Mixed hold 'em (limit/no-limit, 3 day event), $5,000 buyin * July 17 at noon: Live pay-per-view of the final table of Event 55, No-limit hold 'em (the Main Event), $10,000 buyin * July 17 at 8 pm: Event 3, No-limit hold 'em (3 day event), $1,500 buyin * July 17 at 9 pm: Event 4, Pot-limit hold 'em (3 day event), $1,500 buyin * or * July 17 at 9 pm: Event 7, Pot-limit Omaha w/rebuys (2 day event), $5,000 buyin * July 31 at 8 pm: Event 8, No-limit hold 'em w/rebuys (3 day event), $1,000 buyin * July 3
  14. Layla's looking like the hottest one since Shana, and maybe ever, to me. I think this one will be a keeper.
  15. Layla Kayleigh is the new World Poker Tour hostess for season six, which just started filming....Link
  16. PokerNews made a mistake. It's 6 one-hour episodes. But apparently it'll show all the games.
  17. From Poker on TV:Fox Sports is airing the Aussie Millions '07 Cash Game Invitational on Saturday nights at 11 PM. It was apparently filmed before the Aussie Millions tournament. Reruns include 3 PM Wednesday and 4 PM Saturday the 31st.But check your local listings: Fox Sports has various regional networks that may have different schedules.
  18. I watch poker for the poker, not the table talk. I watch it to improve my game and to follow what's going on in the poker world, more than for entertainment. I'd prefer watching Barry Greenstein in a cash game to almost anything, even though he hardly says a word (other than LOL donkaments).I think in PAD the producers told the players to gab it up, to the show's detriment: some of the conversations seem forced. Make it real: that's the most important thing in televised poker. That said, I agree that HSP has some good tabletalk. 8 players, no one busting out since it's a cash game, that's enou
  19. I asked earlier if small ball applied to cash games, or just tournaments. The part of small ball that values survival definitely doesn't apply to cash games. If a cash player places a value on not busting, he will be beaten by a player that is risk-neutral (just values EV) in the long run. The latter player would have an advantage. I wish Daniel would weigh in with an answer here though. I wonder how his cash game play differs from tournament play in this regard.
  20. It was taped at the end of filming of Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament 3. If anyone sees a torrent of it, post here, because I missed part one. Haven't seen one on thepokerbay yet.
  21. First episode? I know something ran last Sunday, but I skipped it because it was listed as a rerun, and I'd read that PSC III aired Feb. 4. Are you sure the thing last Sunday wasn't just a rerun of PSC II?
  22. Poker Superstars Championship III airs Sunday at 1-3 PM on NBC. It's a $500,000 freeroll for the quarterfinalists from the Poker Superstars III series. That and all the other shows are listed at Poker on TV.
  23. It was never filmed. After the UIGEA sponsor money became a problem.
  24. There is no new Poker Superstars now. They reran the last championship on TV Sunday. Next week is the next Championship. But nothing new recently.
