  1. Agree entirely with the play. He showed no real aggression...merely calling. You picked the right time to bet, and it worked. Nice bet.I often make the comment in live games that another player made a nice bet. I am not saying that the play was a bluff , and I am not saying it was not. But the timing of some bets has been known to impress me. This is one of them. I like the entire play.Nice bet!
  2. Only critique of the hand, I hate playing limit in a no-limit table. If it starts, end it. All-in or fold. I guess that is what you did kinda. Make that initial raise, not the flop bet but the re-raise, bigger. This may have ended up the same way, but you would have announced your intention to be a part of this hand. Put the decision on him. Thats the best part of no-limit. Put him to that decision. With the limit style betting he committed himself without thinking about your hand. Force him to think about it initially, and it will pay off in the long run. He might fold that stupid
  3. In a five handed game, I bet the Ace. Simply calling brings too many players, with random hands, into this pot. That being said, I make the call. You are not losing much if you are wrong. A couple of bucks...if you are gambling, you can prolly afford that loss. If not check under your car seats. I normally find that much or more under mine.
  4. I have more of a question than a reply...why couldn't you fold here. You have only $8 invested and now you have to call a $25 dollar raise. Your opponent is obviously committed to the hand, and, without the preflop raise, this is the only information you have concerning the hand. Why not fold here and wait for a better place to throw in your money. I think folding here is absolutely an option, especially in a cash game. There is no freeze-out in a cash game so he can reload at any time. There seem to be no reason except for the POSSIBILITY of winning a big pot. Granted, it is not an ea
  5. I have to agree with Jay and pokerplayer. Due to the betting pre-flop, the spade draw seems very unlikely. A medium pair, say 10 10 or so, or more likely AK seems to be the hand you are up against here. I think I prefer the smooth call, hoping a spade does not hit the board. The spade does not scare me in the hand, it MAY however cause my opponent to escape my trap. That having been said, I would not check the turn. No reason to allow him to slow down and catch a free winner on the river. I would probably charge him about 2/3rds of the pot to see the river. Enough to let it possibly se
