  1. I'm considering going to the satellite tournament Pechanga is hosting on May 31st. Same buyin, same prize (1st place is an entry to the Main Event), etc. What are the starting stacks and the blind structure?
  2. At least read Gus' book 'Every Hand Revealed' before claiming it's common knowledge that he sucks. I just finished it this week and I'd say Gus is definitely no donkey.
  3. I'll chime in as well! You'll find me in the morning tournaments at Pechanga for the most part. When I do sit at a cash game there, I'll sit at a NL table. Although I'm up for some 4/8 limit too. In regards to Flushgarden, Pechanga is also 30 minutes away from my place so I wonder if we're in the same city? I live in Riverside. Lately I've been playing alot at Morongo though. It's been about a month since I've been to Pechanga but PM me sometime and we'll find a time to play some 4/8 at Pechanga.
  4. No WSOP bracelets just an ego and admitting I think I could outplay her. I don't want to see these 'bracelet' responses because we all know damn well that we think we're better than SOME so called 'pros' and possibly more deserving of a bracelet given the opportunity. I've never played in a WSOP even I wish I had the money and/or chance. Be honest peoples.
  5. No I don't feel I'm better than Moneymaker, but I wouldn't mind sitting down at a table with him, as opposed to lets say Phil Ivey. I'll use a better example and say Jennifer Tilly.
  6. EGO check. How often do you feel that you're the best player at the table after lets say, an hour of play? This is more likely regarding cash games since you tend to sit with the same players for longer periods of time. What if you sit down at a cash game with Chris Moneymaker? Phil Hellmuth? Insert player here etc.? Would you still feel that you're the best player? Tournaments apply as well since the 08 WSOP will start soon and some FCP members might find themselves sitting with some pros if they enter some events. Which poker pro do you fear the most and on the other hand who do you feel you
  7. Starting chip stacks are set at 5,000. Blinds start at 25-50 w/20 minute rounds. Blind structure is as follows:25-5050-10075-150100-200150-300200-400300-600400-800500-10001000-20001500-3000etc.Very standard blind structure I'd say. Allows for good poker in the first 2-3 hours with the tournament usually finding a winner in 4 hours. With the big jumps in blinds towards the end it makes for an all in fest most of the time. The structure is good but most players are conservative which more often then not leaves the stacks fairly even while the blinds increase. On another note sometime this month
  8. Check out www.pokertournamentmanager.com. I go to a weekly Thursday night house tournament and this software is a great way to keep a standings system organized. Another plus is that you can create a league on that website for all your regulars to keep track of all their tournament statistics. It's good times.
  9. I forgot the SW can you forgive me? I thought it was obvious.Go Red Wings.
  10. Answer yes if you want them to fold. Answer no if you want them to call... I personally don't answer any questions thrown at me though.
  11. I love that idea! Actually this whole list is good. I'd only change blackjack to poker. I've given my wife money to play before and she has fun but she plays horrible. As for money we're bringing $1,000 with us and pretty much improvising as of now. Not sure how much we'll gamble. I'd like to use the our budget for nice restaurants/buffets and shows for the most part. Now I have a much better idea of what I'll be planning. We don't need a rental car since we're in SoCal and from where we live it's about a 3 hour drive.
  12. Yeah my stack at the time was close to chip lead with 7 players left. Tournament started with 18 players (5,000 chips each). Only 2 rebuys last night. So in play was 100,000 in chips. It becomes a crapshoot towards the end.
  13. Actually don't recall what the sb held. He didn't say. Flop was 10 10 J turn some low card river some low card. Lets say I just call preflop. I'm now looking at a flop of 10 10 J out of position. And also there are a number of overdcards that sb could hold that'll out flop me, and I lose to a bet. I'm not playing to 'knock out' the 7th place player. I'm playing for 1st you know? That's the way I see it. Thankfully my hand help up or else I would've been criticized by the rest of the table who are for the most part happy to finish in the cash.
  14. Yes comedy shows sounds good. Anyone here seen Cirue du Soleil? Is it worth the $100 bucks per ticket or whatever it is?
  15. Weekly tournament that I play every Thursday night. $25 buyin with unlimited rebuys for the first hour. Starting chipstack is 5,000. Last night 18 people showed up, so top 4 payed out. Down to the final 7 players with the blinds at 1000-2000. Folded around to shortstack player who moves all in with 5,000. Folds around to small blind who calls the raise (having about 14,000 behind after call). I'm in the big blind with pocket 9s. My stack at this point is probably 20,000 which is near the chip lead. I decided to go all in with the hand to either get heads up with extra chips in the pot if the s
  16. Quick backround. I've been to Vegas 5 times since I've turned 21. I've always gone with friends and all we do is play poker, which works out because it's the only reason we go. I'm turning 23 this May and my wife reserved a room at the MGM (my favorite casino/poker room) for my birthday for a weekend. This is the first time I'll be going with her. My wife is not a gambler, and I'd like to keep the poker playing to a minimum so she's not alone or bored! Anyone have any advice on what to do out in Vegas? I've already checked out vegas.com to see some attractions/shows, but I'd like to hear from
  17. Pie chart of procrastination.
  18. Honest question here is why did you check on the turn? Villian could've checked behind since you gave a chance for a free card, and you still lose the pot. By no means do I justify villians call though. You got your chips in with the best of it and that was def a bad beat.
  19. Wow this turned out to be quite a discussion. Copernicus could you please elaborate on this post? How do you figure what is negative EV in this situation? It's an honest question and I'd really like to know especially if it'll improve my game. Also, What does ICM mean? Never have seen the acronym before. As for the results of the hand. After some thought I made the call. Villian was holding JJ's. I got very lucky and hit an 8 on the river which knocked the villian out. My reasons for calling included players aggressive image and knowing that if I lost this hand I still had 6,000 (6BB) behind.
  20. LOL I just realized it seems odd seeing how the tourney started with 10 and I'm talking about a situation with 6 players. To put things in perspective, this is like 2 1/2 hours in so it felt like a late stage in the tournament. Also with the blinds at that high it was a totally different game. I'm basically trying to get feedback in this particular situation.
  21. Tournament is a house game every Thursday night. Starting chips stack is 5,000. Blinds are 25-50 and are raised every 20 minutes. First hour rebuys are unlimited. This week started with 10 players. Regarding the other 4 stacks. 1 was short with 4,000 or so. Chip leader had roughly 20,000. The others to were also near 10,000-11,000. Top 3 payed out.$180$110$60Buyin is $25. Hope that helps.
  22. This hand happened with 6 players left in the tournament. Blinds are 500-1000. Average stack is I'd say around 11,000. I'm the SB sitting with 16,000 chips or so. Action is folded to me. I end up with pocket 8's. I raise to 3,500. BB then re-raises and moves all in with 10,000. About this player:Has been aggressive for most of the night. Player has raised preflop constantly and also has been caught bluffing on postflop. About 20 minutes earlier had moved all in preflop and was called, happened to have AK suited that hand. In other words, this guy could have anything. I really have no idea wher
  23. So I just got home from a house game not too long ago. One of the regulars at that game had won a free entry the other day into the $160 buyin, $20,000 guaranteed tournament tomorrow (Friday so technically tonight I guess), and won't be able to make it. He announced this at the table and asked if anyone of us there would be able to play for him. I quickly jumped on that as fast as possible before anyone else could claim the entry, because this is basically a freeroll for the taker. Of course the obligation is that I give half of whatever I cash out. I've played a few tournaments at Morongo bef
  24. Very nice read thank you for that. Jerry Yang will be hosting/playing in a tournament at the Lake Elsinore casino sometime in late April/early May. Anyone going to that event?
  25. This game has me yelling at my computer screen and slamming my mouse...
