Bay101 Shooting Stars Wpt Event...

Recommended Posts

CP is showing a SL event as the main event at Bay101 this year. I checked WPT's site and several (if not all, as I was skimming through) sats into this event as SL.Nothing on structure on CP, so I'm not 100% positive this is true or if this is just one of CP's usual errors, but WTF if it is.Is this some vain attempt by Bay101 to try to keep pros in for as long as possible while trying to maintain an at least somewhat exciting final table? If so, whatever excitement this gives will instantly be taken away when Mike Sexton continually has to explain Spread Limit to the TV viewers.

http://poker.wikia.com/wiki/No-limit_sprea...it_hold_'emMany localities in California regulate gambling to some degree, and a few of them do so by regulating the "maximum amount of any wager". Casinos interpret this to mean the maximum amount of any particular bet or raise. In Northern California, a few localities restrict wagers to no more than $200, so a form of "spread limit $4-$200" poker has been created. This plays just like no-limit except that the maximum individual bet or raise is $200 at any time. Since buyins at these games are typically only $200 max, it nearly always plays identically to no-limit anyway, but the rules satisfy the legal authorities. ---It's a stupid local law, but from what I can recall, the Shooting Star always had an exemption. All other Bay 101 tournaments are SL, but to be honest 95% of the time it plays exactly like NL (see info above).
