pet peeve may be the wrong word…what do you call it when your opponnets do something that annoys you and is just flat wrong, but it leads to you making more money? Oh, wait….let’s change the title to “Thanks for the new Bowling Ball.” – yeah, I got other hobbies.Anyway…it’s the common situation with a loose pre-flop player at a pretty passive $25 NL game. When this hand come up…no details…utg limps, Loosey limps, 2 limps, raise to 5x BB, folds, and 2 calls, Loosey calls, 2 more callsflop…small bets….turn…bigger bets…now HU with Loosey and not with orig raiser….River..big bets by non-Loosey…loosey wins 160 Big Big Blinds. ($40) With 64off, after hitting 2 pair on flop. Table proceeds to rip him up…I just laugh. no one says anything to the other guys who was bluffing with NOTHING. So what if Loosey calls 5x bb, he was getting around 3-4 : 1 at the time with 2 others behind him…and a field big enough to make the implied odds huge.A few hands later…someone else went all in on the river for about 40 BB’s with TP, and Loosey called with two pair. He just let others bet into him because they thougt he played junk. He saw a ton of cheap flops but would not go past the flop if bet hard into …without a hand.IMO, everyone was missing the point: His style makes money because others pay off too much on the river, when they forget how relatively cheap there opponent has seen all 5 cards.The actual peeve is listening to whiners who get burned by this behavior..but then again..they make me $ too.I tried playing some deep stack myself, as I was feeling more confident. Having only said “let him play, it’s working for him” ..others may have thought, I too, play 64. Well., I’m not that confident.I limp with KQo after 4 other limpers, from the Button. BB pops it to $1 and all call ($6). Flop comes KQJ, KQ are spades.BB bets out $2 (has me covered), one caller, I raise to $8 (have $12 left, I was seeing flops cheap, and just won a little…mainly still waiting for bigger payoff..not good at the stealing pots..swooping down style…)BB puts me all in, 1 fold, now there’s $30 in the pot, and I need to put in $12..easy call with top 2, so I did. A bit nervous about AT, or a Set, or AK spades, since my play should have indicated a tight person and the $8 raise was by far the biggest bet I had made. Well, Ace came on river and I puked..but no prob, she was playing K-T. I’m not critical of that play…I left after that..with $40…because I’m still getting comfortable with deep stack play – and it was 7:00am. 60BB in 1.5 hours was fine.One thing I know…don’t be upset if you pay off a loosey..when the price was right for him to come in.
