joeythep 0
I know this is small potatoes to some of you, but I have to tell y'all anyway. I took my second $5 buy in MTT in nine days tonight. It was my fifth cash in the same period. Funny thing is...before last Friday, I had probably played in a total of five online MTTs. So in the last nine days I've won just a hair over $1k, and after pulling out $400 to make the wifey happy, I finally have the makings of a bankroll. I plan to stick with the $5 MTTs for a while, see what I can do...but I might make the occasional run at a $10 or $20 one as well. I also ordered David Sklansky's Tournament Hold 'em for Advanced Players. Whatever anyone else might say 'bout him, his other books have done wonders for me. I've only been playing seriously for about 9 months, but I'm plus $2000 total ($2077 actually  ) , counting online, home games, one 30 person tourney at a local casino, and a small handful of casino cash games. So wish me luck!!!
richhillkc 0
First off, congratulations! I've managed to crack the money on the big 2000 person tournaments on Pokerstars, but can't seem to get to the end. I know that I've gotta be playing too tight, but if I loosen up, I end up going out around 600th place. What usually happens is I get to that level and someone with a giant chipstack runs me over. I've heard to play tight in the early going, but that just seems to get me to the middle of the tournament with a less than stellar stack.Suggestions?
Ed 0
Congrats on your wins. Making the money in any MTT is difficult and you should enjoy every cash, regardless the amount. I know, I'm still waiting to cash in anything bigger than an 18-player SNG (won one of those at least)
DJ_Chaps 0
congrats, im still chasing win #2 myself. and i agree with rich, laying low early doesn't really keep you in the hunt, if you're looking for high placment. i'd say get at a few hands, take something down, have a stack to sit on, if you wanna lay low. worked for me. to be more precise:i was playing mine on 7sultans. their leaderboard structure shows you the top 20 or so in the tourney lobby........... in my mind, as long as i stayed on there, i could see myself at the top. and at the end, i did
