I usually play limit, hence my question. What are the minimum bets in no limit? Is it at least the BB the first two betting rounds and then double that for the last two betting rounds. I have tried to explain it to friends, but they don't understand.ThanksOrville

The minimum raise preflop is two 2x the BB. The minimum opening bet on the flop, turn, and river is equal to the BB. Any raise must be equal to the amount of the raise that preceeded it. So if player 1 bets $100 on the flop, the minimum player 2 can raise to is $200. Let's say that player 2 instead raises to $400. If player 3 wants to reraise he can reraise to any amount greater than or equal to $700 [$400 + ($400-$100)].I know that's more information than you asked for but I thought you might find it helpful.

The minimum bet in NL is the size of the BB. However if you find yourself making a minimum bet after the flop is out you should stop right then, kill your hand, and walk back over to the Limit table.I'm mainly a limit player too, but I'm switching over, because I know how to play NL pretty well, and I think I'm ready for the change. Anyways........
