bullmoose 0
According to Mike Caro (see below)........more than you think. Hard to imagine its anything near this, but about a week ago at one of the local casinos, I put a guy all in, he calls, and is shocked to see my full house that beats his whatever.......so he chucks/splashes a bunch of chips into the pot, gets up in a huff, and starts to quickly walk away. Dealer counts up the chips and SCREAMS.......HEY......"YOU SHORTED ME !!!" and the floor people got all over him. He was clearly trying to pull a fast one (stuck a bunch of chips from the table into his pocket before walking off)......so I guess you need to keep an eye out for various scams.http://www.poker1.com/archives/1856"But let’s take poker. First ofall, of that 32,813 gamblers making a living in America, how many areprimarily poker players? OK, you want another over/under, here it comes:18,100. How many are totally honest in the way they exact this living? It’s 6,914. That means 62 percent of American poker players making aliving are scamming"

BaseJester 1
That Caro article seems pretty useless to me. The total number of cheaters or professional cheaters doesn't seem particularly relevant to any practical question. The question I'm interested in is, "How likely am I to be cheated in a game?" To that question, the 62% number is relevant but completed unrelated to the other estimates and calculations, which serve as hand-waving to distract the reader from the complete lack of support for this estimate. dna4ever 2
I don't know how many hundreds of bar league tournaments I have ran by now, but it's been a crap ton. One thing that has completely amazed me is I have never had 1 incidence of actual cheating and what is more amazing is I have never "lost" a chip to this point. When you think about it, I have over 10,000 players buy ins in an average year which means 10,000 starting stacks with multiple color ups, putting out, putting up, etc etc. Not 1 chip missing from my error or player error or theft. Awesome imo.In the interest of full disclosure I have had several incidences of angle shooting, but never theft of chips from my dealer racks or another players stacks. dna4ever 2
Just did basic math and realize I run 728 tournaments a year right now. That's freaking ridiculous.
