We are 6 handed in this particular hand.I'm decently deep, about $280 before the flop.Villain in question is about $133 in chips.I have Ad QdUTG, MP, Villain, all limp. I raise to $12. (I feel I should have raised more here). All limpers call.$48 potHere's the flopAs 8d JsI bet $30. UTG and MP fold. Villain goes all in for $91 more(121 total).I folded here.My table image is TAG. I've been showing down the goods with mostly face cards(Although I was kind of on a rush winning about the last 5 or 6 of 10-12 pots). Villain is pretty snug as well and doesn't go crazy with flush draws in this spot, so you can rule out any FD or RFD. Villain also doesn't go nuts with a straight draw here. Villain would move with a hand like AT though, but not A9.Even though I've narrowed down Villain's range quite a bit, it was still tough for me to make my decision. And it was mostly tough because AT was in the range of this opponent. Would you lay this down?Edit: Also, should I have raised more PF, maybe to $18 or so?

umm i think your preflop raise was fine, unless people were playing super loose. i honestly think i would put him on like a 7s 8s with a pair and flush draw. Either way i think you were either losing, or just a coinflip. i fold also.

If we're flipping, we get the money in every time, because we're paying $91 to flip for a $300 pot. This is an easy call.

Yeah, in a $1/$2 NL live game against your garden variety craps-playing, just-playing-poker-because-it's-another-game-in the-casino-type-villain, this is a worse ace approximately 40% of the time, two pair 20% of the time, a set 12% of the time, and a draw the rest. This is a spot we make $ in long term.

Re-read my OP. This villain does not have a pair of 8s with a flush draw. I know this player very well. Not ragging on you at all, but I eliminated this possibility as soon as the player shoved. I eliminated a bluff as well.
If we're flipping, we get the money in every time, because we're paying $91 to flip for a $199 pot. This is an easy call.
FYP. 48+30+121=199If it was a $300 pot I would have called. Even with the great odds, why blow an extra $91 for a 3 outer(assuming the other player has TPTK or two pair/set already)? Hellmuth was just rambling about how he doesn't always agree with math based poker.Based on my reads, this player does not shove on top of me with garbage(hence me eliminating a flush draw and a slew of other hands). This player knows I have the goods most of the time and has only slipped up once or twice against me in the past year with the worst hand.

Now add our $91 in when we call. If the villain plays three hands a night, fold.
