  1. i think the call pf is excellent, like i already said, it's just very very unfortunate that you ran up against aces.if he has AK here, he's going to go with the continuation bet and it'll be enough where an allin commits him...if you push back at him allin, he may fold AK....it's definitely a strong enough hand to try to trap him and double up.i like it.
What if an ace hits?or the flop comes TJQ?You are talking like you can see through the cards....you push in preflop......
if an ace hits, you can possibly get out of it if you have a good read or whatever...if TJQ flops, you can get off of it because you're most likely losing...there is postflop play ya know...and KK is a good enough hand to try to trap with to double up.
I would have to agree that it is just a situation where you push preflop- whatever chip leader has he is either going to call or reraise you all in preflop anyway, with the kings you might as well do it for him. A-A vs. K-K happens all the time and is generally almost unavoidable.
  2. Live MTT...middle stages....I got 7700 in chips....jagoff has about the same....Guy in early position raises to 1600 (Blinds are 200-400)...guy next to me (DONK) calls....it gets to me and I find  Q :club: Q :D  after a half hour of folding to being card dead..(He has to give me credit for a hand right?)...I MOVE IN....Early position guy goes into the tank for about 4 hours (it seemed that way) and folds.....guy next to me....calls in a shot....I am now resigned to losing to KK or AA......right?  Wrong...This idiot shows K :D J :D ....other guy chuckles and says that he laid down AKo...Flop comes AJ9...Turn...J...river...blank...I lose....the guy says..."Good game, I figured we had a coin flip...I was confident in my KJ."I smile and slink away to the bar......Here is where it gets interesting....he then went on to win by demolishing the final table with a series of preflop allins...where he defeated AA with AT, QQ with AJ, KK with QJ, and AT with K9.....In closing...Holdem is for idiots.
This is not a bad beat story, only because it was not a bad beat. I think of it as more of a bad call story. Sometimes a little gamble in No Limit pays off, as is so in this case.
  3. My 2 cents as far as some of the comments about tourney play- I tend to be ultra loose early because of the fact that pretty much everybody is playing tight for the first twenty minutes. When I say loose I mean aggressive but loose in that I am not even really looking at my cards, I am just going with the fact that most people are playing big hand poker for the first 1/2 hour. Then, when they start getting pissed hopefully I will start getting some hands if I haven't already and be able to actually go to war if they grow a pair- or, I will just slow down until it is time to get aggressive again.

  4. I'm sure that at the exalted levels you all play at you are right and this was OBVIOUSLY a well-played boat, but trust me, at a $50 SNG on Party I was pretty confident I was ahead.I actually agree about internet players pushing in too easily. However you have to adjust to the style of game you are in... which is why I got called.Even if you are up against a boat, I still defend pushing in here. a) they have to consider that you have a bigger boat and B) if you are right about having the best hand one in two times, and that gives you a big enough stack to at least cash, you have +EV. In this case I went on to win so I have funded myself four stupid mistakes in future tournaments. So you should all be pleased, as no doubt that cash will be coming to you soon.
Uh, no. If the game is as soft as you claim they are not considering that you have a bigger boat, they just call with whatever boat they have. The all in on the river was a bad play.
  5. Anyone saying this is a horrible strategy in the first level or two of a big tournament is dumb. Lots of top players limp in early with a big pair, read any of the pros books on tournament play and they will make the same claim, especially if they are fairly confident they will get raised preflop. So it sucks when everyone limps in and you play against 5 people with your AA....if you can't fold AA against multiple opponents with lots of action you aren't a very good player and aren't going to win anyways.
Many pro's will NOT do this early in a tournament, because there is nothing to be gained by it, when you limp with aces you're hoping to trap someone for a large pot, not play a small one. All pro's will tell you there is no need to play a big pot early in a tournament. Most pro's think you should avoid big pots altogether unless you need chips fast, TJ Cloutiers book advises to chip away take the small pots from people and stay away from putting your whole stack at risk at all costs. As for Kaedin, great fold with the JJ after the flop, but had dixiecup simply raised from UTG, would you have lost a lot more, if not all of your chips in that spot?? Maybe, maybe not, but she certainly didn't gain much by limping with those aces.I don't know why people think this is a sneaky play, you send out big warning signals to any experienced player when you limp UTG. It makes it a lot easier for me to make a read against a player when they limp/raise, or limp/call from UTG, then if they were to just raise from UTG.
Of course it sends out a warning single- TO YOU!! Majorityy of online players are not very good- I double up in tourneys this way all the time. Just did it in fact, except I limped with kings, he raises I reraise he calls- with A-K!! NO ACE ON ALL STREETS!! BOO YAH!! Now I just need to maintain if i'm still in topp 5 in an hour I will let you know.
  6. Do this.  Next time, once you realize what's going on.  Ask them if they are gun owners.  Then off handedly tell them you have a gun in the car, and that you've always been fascinated with the thought of hunting a real human being, or beings. Then ask them politely if you can have your money back, because you really don't want to shoot them for it.OR, you could just go into the tank for fifteen minutes every time there is a decision to you.  Pre Flop, Flop......everything.  If they start whining, ask for your money back because they are cheating you.Or, tell them elaborate stories about how you are a computer hacker, and how you can untraceably ruin anyone's life if you wanted to.  Like sending emails to them from their girlfriend's email address.  rerouting their tax returns, putting stolen credit card charges on their ASP address.  Stuff like that, use your imagination! And say "Don't you think it's a bad idea to censored someone who can censored you a thousand times worse, right back?"  "Give me my fifty dollars and we can save everyone some pain and suffering."
Put down the pipe- wipe off the cheetoh dust- drink some water without hops in it and take a nap. You need it. Something is very wrong.
  7. Yeh he's a great actor.I think Made was the movie that "made" him. smileslayer.gif.
no way dude, Swingers.... made wasnt bad though.
Made sucked, really, really bad. His best work is in Old School and if you have not seen Wedding Crashers yet go see it. Funniest movie I have seen since I don't know when.
  8. I have one friend who is an absolute donkey.  Knows nothing about odds and calls down to the river if he hits any part of the board. Last time at AC he managed to win 200 dollars playing video poker (hit 5 of a kind), then took $100 of that into a 2/4 game and walked away with roughly 40 BB profit in an hour by reraising middle pair and bluffing with J high on the river. Of course, now he thinks he is the superstud of poker. Recently against others'  advice he put $50 into Party and decided to start playing 3/6. He goes up to a bit over $200 the first day and will not shut up about how skillful he is at this game.  I keep telling him to quit while he is ahead, but the donkey will not listen and gets offended as if I'm trying to keep him down. So now I'm just going to let nature take it's course.  Please feel free to add the player "Tascar" to your buddylist on Partypoker and teach the lesson I could not.  He might have already gone broke in the 3 days since we last spoke but rest assured this is donkness at its finest.
Let him enjoy himself. What is it with us that makes us have to shout to the world how good we are and how bad they are? Just let him enjoy his rush.
  9. What's with the curveball, that has nothing to do with the post.  And while it's beside the point, he didn't beat the censored out of the guy in front of witnesses.    I'm at a loss if you think it's ok and a good legal strategy to beat someone up for money, so long as there aren't any witnesses.  I'm just going to wrap up my entire interest in this conversation in two sentences, if you agree with what I'm saying, then I misinterpreted you originally or you waffled, with way, there isn't much left to say:People are often quick to jump on the idea that if someone steals or cheats you, you shoudl kick their ass.  That's a stupid, testosterone/youth induced plan where the negative legal ramifications aren't worth the $20 buy-in you so passionately want to defend.
So if he did waffle as you put it you would continue to be an ass even though he waffled and now agreed with you? Interesting.
  10. Slimenem: heard you are going to play Negreanu for $500K! neverwin: think just 250k Slimenem: thats crazy money man Slimenem: thats still a lot neverwin: i could afford to lose neverwin: after i crush id play for more but he wont want to play me anymore Slimenem: crush him? neverwin: yeah
It's official. Your life consists of following around someone you don't even know to online poker rooms to watch them play. You then wait for funny quotes to post in a forum like you had anything to do with it. You even call the dude by his screen name. You really need to take a look at what you are doing with your life.
After a tasty bowl of Applejacks and some saturday morning Power Rangers, really, what more else is there for me to do?
  11. Your right. Limping with Aces at a table when you know will raise you and you put yourself in a position to either A- win more chips preflop or B- race with another pair is just plain stupid and senseless strategy. Damn that crazy guy and his schemes to win more chips!!

  12. My point is, I can't live in fear of someone behind me having a higher pocket pair in this situation. I saw an excellent opportunity to double up early and get some chips, and I could live with losing to the maniac if he drew out on me. If I sit there and fold because of the 5% chance that one of the three players behind me has A/A, K/K, Q/Q or J/J, I'm playing scared poker, and in this type of tournament with short rounds, you can't do that if you want to make the money. So yes, I push my edge here 100 out of 100 times. 52 times I beat the maniac, 43 times I lose to him, 4 times I lose when there is a higher pocket pair behind me, 1 time I suck out on that pocket pair.
If you already have this all worked out for yourself why bother asking.? Really, the answer is it was the wrong move for this tournament on this day- in order to survive in this one you needed to fold this hand. Pocket tens are not a bad hand, and if you are going to get involved here your only move is al in I agree with that- having said that I would not get involved here, and if I happened to do so because the maniac got to me which does happen- I would have to sit back and say " Damn, I really did not have to do that in that situation. O.K., next tourney."
  13. Those are my points exactly Abbadabba. This tournament is structured in such a way that you basically have to double up before the end of the second round if you want to be a contender. It's not the world series' date=' where you have two hours per round and a deep stack, and can afford to arrive 5 hours late and not be in bad shape. Your starting M in this tourney (for those familiar with Dan Harrington's books) is only 24, and if you don't improve by the second round it goes down to 12. This makes it so that you [i']have to[/i] push your edge every chance you get.I feel this raiser would have called my all-in, but that is actually what I wanted. I knew he did not have a premium hand, so I figured at worst he had two over cards and it was a race. With the structure as it was, I'll take that race any day. Except that there are more people left to act, and they could have Jacks or better. I like aggressive play but you do not have enough information yet because you are not last to act- wait or a better spot, and really now you know why.
  14. do u consider QJo premium? no, but its still a coinflip. point is its way too early and even idiots get a hand once in awhile.
What he said- wait for a better spot. What I find with maniacs like this is either they will play themselves right out of the tourney quickly or they will double me up when they have a stack and I have the goods.
  15. ya i figured might as well do the same as everyone else on this damn forum, sorry for asking for advice, i though thats what this forum is for?
Advice- do not play poker, ever. Oddly enough you will get beat out of a pot or 2 0r 20, and this will not be good for you.
  16. Don't limp Aces. Ever. At a maniacal table, your raise will get 3-bet. At a an LPP table, you'll get more crap out. I haven't even read the discussion because, in and of itself, it's probably -EV.
The disscussion was for a no limit tourney setting, not a limit cash game. Different theory altogether brother.
