  1. um, i think i am missing what makes this hand so interesting... to me, it looks like you successfully slowplayed a set, and then raised when a potential draw hit the board, and then moved all in against what was probably overpair or a horrible bluff. i mean, you pay off 55 here and you pay off 99 and 98 here. it's just the way it goes. Especially, at stakes this low. I've seen people turn over crap like 93 and 10 7 here! Set over set is just bad variance. Though i take back... probably didnt have an oop

  2. :club::D
    if you're going to call the flop, take the free draw to the nuts and check behind on the turn.no value in betting the turn here. an obvious draw completed and it looks like you might have hit it since you just flat called the flop. any hand that you're beating right now is folding to a bet, whereas any hand that's ahead is either flat calling or suckering you into a check-raise after hitting their draw.if the river comes a blank and he bets, make a decision based on odds and the bet size, taking into consideration that you've improved the chances of picking off a bluff here by showing no strength throughout the hand.as played, fold the river.
  3. I agree MP has to have a very strong hand here - What is your calling range? JJ+, AK+?
    I would call with JJ+ mainly because in events this small you get people pushing with the damndest things. You need the chips, and he could very well have a hand like 10 10. I've even seen some people turn up a hand like 77 here. Gun to my head, I would guess he has AK though.
  4. easy fold. in your position, you should only be opening pots (raise 400) and re pushing if you think you can get the guy to fold or you have a monster hand. By monster I am talking bigger than 10 inches with a diameter of bigger than 3 inches.

  5. YEAH DANIEL! I AM DRUNK IN IRELAND AT 2:18 am. Coming back from the pubs and reading this just made me giddy. So yeah, I told a group of girls today the following: (irish accent) "hi, i am unemployed, homeless, and living with my parents. would you like to go home with me?" at this point they gave me the cold shoulder. then i laughed, turned on my normal voice and said, "hahaha you idiots, i am a rich american! couldn't you tell by the armani exchange gear?!" then i walked down the street laughing. can ya dig it?

  6. pre-raise moreflop-raise moreturn- raise moreriver-check call as played.The fact that he'd limped previously and you'd raised previously sets up your image here and that's perfect for you. Call and watch him table 67, Mikey's the big winner!!!
    well put sir. I might fold this in a cash game, but in a tourny where the money is all in the top 3 I would go for doubling my stack early. It depends on the stakes of this tourny too, but I find that players suck even in $100 buy in events. When I first read the hand I thought probably 9 10 or like 10-7. He wouldn't slow play such a low top pair here by just calling... even morons drive out the big cards when they flop piss poor top pair. I think you had the best hand.
  7. Well, I mean to answer you question: it's really hard to get away from, but not impossible. You would have to put him on a set. You misplayed the hand preflop I think. You need to re raise a 1.5 bet to like... at least 5 and probably to 6. By only reraising to 3 you're giving a hand like 55 information that you have a huge hand, and that all he needs to do is flop a 5, and he'll probably stack you. I love when people min re raise me for this exact reason.holla,DynOmite

    can i get away from this hand? i probably should have just called his raise. but could i get away from it even if the turn wasnt a heart?PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)CO ($49.75)Button ($57.35)SB ($48.75)BB ($64.50)UTG ($51.50)UTG+1 ($33.45)Hero ($127.05)MP2 ($27)MP3 ($49.75)Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Aheart.gif, Kheart.gif. 1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $1.5, Hero raises to $3, 1 fold, MP3 calls $3, 1 fold, Button calls $3, 1 fold, BB calls $2.50, UTG+1 calls $1.50.Flop: ($15.25) 4heart.gif, Qheart.gif, Aspade.gif(5 players)BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $5, MP3 folds, Button raises to $29.5, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, Hero raises to $124.05, Button calls $24.85 (All-In).Turn: ($193.65) 7spade.gif(2 players, 1 all-in)River: ($193.65) 6club.gif(2 players, 1 all-in)Final Pot: $193.65
  8. Well, it depends on two things... at least to me. 1. Are you much better than your opponents. I know that you said one of them was good, but apparently you rule. If you're better than them that don't put your money in if you feel compromised.2. Your read on both opponents. I would guess that the good player probably had a flush draw or J10 on the flop. The only K10 hand that calls you there is K10dd. Bottom line is this: it's highly doubtful that any hand you can beat besides QJ will raise you here. In fact, I don't think there are many dead hands that will call you here. Maybe Ad from the donk? Because of this, I check in this huge spot and see what the river brings. This will give mp a chance to bluff, and will save you some money if someone has the flush.holla,DynOmite

    live 1 3 game last night.UTG $350-good player after the flop, gets involved in a lot of hands, makes the right decisions, but just took a sick river last hand for $250 potmp-donkey.175 stacked off to UTG half an hour ago, flop came 337 two spades, utg raise, donkey min reraise, utg push, got called 3rd spade hit the board, utg 88, donkey mucked.me-button-$-200-I rule. I have JJUTG raises to 10mp raises to 20button*me* callsUTG calls.Flop Qd 9h 3d pot $60UTG checksmp bets $20btn callsUTG callsTurn Jd pot $120UTG checksmp checksbtn-??So mp's got ak for sure. I really doubt they're diamonds. I think he's done w/ the hand. UTG looks interested, he's laggy and capable of having diamonds or k10. I've got 160ish behind.Whatcha do?Didn't re pop preflop as I was sure one of the two would have gone all the way, as had happened at the table in the last half hour and I wasn't interested in a flip. Flop maybe raise? Definitely not folding flop, but could have raised I guess. Now the ultra action set/straight/flush card hits and it's on me. hmmmmm......
  9. It shows how important it is to be patient. Against super maniacs though, I like to see as many cheap flops as possible. Maniacs suck post flop. If the dude plays well after the flop, then he's not a donk; he's just a sick cash game player. Don't judge a man's ability on his preflop play...ps. since the new server has come up, I've noticed a HUGE increase in the number of interesting and relevant-to-poker strategy posts. Anyone else notice this?

  10. In my eyes, the "hero" and "villain" tags are flip-flopped. The idiot who missed seeing TWO extra zeroes on the buy-in amount was lucky to even get a chip count split, and for some unknown reason acted as if he was entitled to more.
    I think anyone who knows anything about the world of poker agrees with you. Hey OP, you know who built my bankroll? Degenerates that put their kids college tuition on the line! You know what i do with that money? I put it in my bathtub and swim in it. AHAHAHAHHAHAHHAGHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!
  11. This is about doing what's right! Read the post and you will understand that this kid did not have 6k to loose. If you don't agree with me after reading the cliffnotes try reading the entire thread.If you care about morality then I would try to read it, here's the cliff notes versionGuy normally plays 50+6 sitngoes verified by sharkscopeGuy signs up for a 5000+60 sitngo by mistakeGuy says from hand one that it's a mistake and emails support right awayGuy looses a few hundred chips because he's checking and foldingSupport comes Guy offers up to take an $800 loss to the villan villan will only take a chipcount dealguy reclutantly has no choice but to accecpt because only $800 of the money is his, the rest is his friendsGuy makes a mistake, Villan makes a bad decision.
    Don't be an idiot and sit down at a 5k sng. How is the "villain" obligated to give the "hero" back his money? The morality card in poker is appropriate when it comes to cheating and collusion. Here, its just nonsense. The "hero" should be thanking his lucky stars that he got 4k back.
