PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)Hero ($7.85)SB ($20.05)BB ($3)UTG ($7.25)MP ($15.10)Preflop: Hero is Button with A , K . UTG raises to $0.2, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.6, 2 folds, UTG calls $0.40.Flop: ($1.35) A , 4 , T (2 players)UTG bets $6.65 (All-In), Hero ?Villain is 35/6 through 16 hands.. AF not enough data.No read other than that.. haven't seen him show anything down yet. Is this an autocall?

The way he played it ensures he sees all 5 cards as well, with the added bonus of fold equity on the flop.If you're sure he doesn't have AA or KK and you're willing to put half your stack in preflop just shove the rest in preflop and make sure you see the whole board. If he's on QQ or less you're in a coin flip, but only if you see the whole board and AK is a hand that wants to see all the cards.Basically, if you're not going to fold to his 5 bet, shove the rest in if you only have that much left behind. -
Because you won't get called by anything you beat. This is either call or fold.[That's a really strange villain line. I can't think this is much more than a whiff or a 9. Might be 88 or JJ or some such thing. If you were inducing the bluff, why not re-raise once you got it? -
I think its fairly standard. I might have bet around 9 - 10 on the turn. On the river, I think I'd throw in a blocking bet instead of checking to villain. Say throw in a half-sized pot bet and fold to a raise. You end up getting value out of your AA, and losing less if you were planning to call a pot-sized bet. If you think villain is prone to bluffing his draws on the river, I might check to induce a bluff.

Easy call. This could be a busted flush draw or something like A8. I think you're a bit more likely behind than ahead, but at ~2.7 to 1, no way I'm folding here.

I generally agree with this, but I think there are a couple of specific situations where you don't measure +EV or -EV of a specific hand independently in a cash game. The one I came up with off the top of my head is if you have a loose passive donk who has a stack of say 3x the original buyin. You're current stack is 2.5 x buyin, and your currently in a pot with a good solid player. Your pushed into all in on the flop, and feel like your range versus his range makes it slightly +EV in that hand independently to call. Do you still call though knowing that if you lose your stack here, you will not have access to the full stack of the easy money in later hands? In my opinion, something like that needs to be figured into your decision, although its probably a rare case. Just food for thought, I have nothing to contribute to the OP lol.And there would be if you got stacked on this hand. This is not an attack on you, but I see this WAY too much in the forums here. I'm mostly picking on MtDesMoines, cuz he says this all the time:NL CASH GAMES ARE NOT TOURNAMENTS. There is no "waiting for a better spot. There is either +EV or -EV (or neutral EV, I suppose). The point is, don't be weak tight because you want to save your chips for hands vs the drunkard. If you have an edge push it. You probably don't here, so this hand need not apply, but my point is valid. -

Button checks.River: ($1.95) 5 (2 players)Hero bets $0.9?Villain is 39/3/0.75. The check on the turn was to allow villain to bet/catch a diamond (I had been cbetting almost ever PFR pot, not sure villain is good enough to notice this). In retrospect, I hate this because villain was passive anyways, might as well bet out and build the pot.As played, how much do you bet on the river? Do you overbet hoping to get a call from a K?

I think that it really depends on the level you're playing at. I think a PTBB/100 hands of 8 - 10 is very good at NL100 or NL200, and a return of 10 - 13 is good for NL25 and NL50. If you're a bit below, you're still good, those are just more optimal numbers as far as I've heard. Of course, if you're 1 or 2 tabling, you might be able to sustain a bit higher rate.

I absolutely hated the call on the flop, just because it leaves me with no idea of where I am in the hand. If I check behind on the turn, and am checked to on the river, do I value bet?

History: He raised preflop to 3x bb from UTG+1 a few hands ago... i flat called in SB with AJo. Flop comes 5 8 J with 2 clubs, i check, he bets pot, I raise, he pushes for his 4 dollar stack, I call. Turns out he had AJo as well, and we split the pot. Pretty much only pot I've really seen him play.Thoughts: Should have probably raised to ~1.30 instead. As played, do we push the turn or check behind?

I push that turn as played. Perfect spot for a semibluff imo.

I've never seen Stars go down... FT a few times.. but never stars.

Me too.

Autocall for me. I think you played the hand fine, I might have raised to ~2.50, but I want to get it all in here regardless. If he has a set, its a cooler, but I thinks its either KQ, QJ, or some kind of draw a majority of the time.
-
When deciding on the turn, I pretty much assumed he bet 2.70 since that's how much I'd be committed for anyways if I decided my hand was good enough to call.

Haven't seen him/her get involved in any pots through 23 hands. Despite the miniscule bet size.. is there any way this is NOT an ace? Only two hands I've seen showdown are AJo which he/she preflop raised from the cutoff, and QJo which was limped in from the CO.Knowing that villain isn't loose.. is leading out the flop okay?
-
Actually my reason for posting this is what range would you put villain on in this situation? I hate the way this hand was played from hero's perspective. I guess I should have reworded my original posting.
-
As I said, this isn't a hand played by me.well played, i get it all in on the river every time, especially at this levelsorry you lost to KJ cause i'm assuming thats why you posted -
Well said. Completely agree.I was playing 2/5 NL at Bellagio a couple weeks ago and some 75 year old nit who'd been playing very few pots reraised an open from I think $25 to $75 or something. His hands were shaking like crazy, they were honestly moving about 3 inches up and down and he could barely get his chips in. I think I called with a small pair or something looking to get stacks against AA if I hit. There were two other callers as well. The flop comes AKx, and the nit checks. He's really got AA now, right? Well, there's a bet from another player, I fold, it folds back around to the nit and... he folds! So you can't put too much into a simple read like that. You don't know exactly what he has even if you think you do. That you were thinking about folding KK for 22 BB to a shortstack who's a new player is beyond bad. I bet this is AK at least as often as AA, and for all you know, he could be shoving 88 and up.

Flop bet was fine, I would have bet ~4 - 4.50 on the turn to price out draws. I don't MIND the blocking bet on the river, but I think I would have c/c'ed here. I ESPECIALLY c/c here if you think that villain might be prone to bluffing with air on the river.
