  1. I think Gallo is expressing it hte best and applying a % to various aspects and assessments is just making up numbers without susbstantiation. Saying it is 100% dumb luck can't be right either, though. Russell had too many opportunities and tools to make the result 0% effort on his part. Sure, plenty had to go right and the key was Tyson switching his vote and Russell probably didn't even know Tyson had been tagged to write down Russells name. That's a huge swing.
i really think he went to tribal thinking all 6 votes were going to parv...and if that were true, him surviving would be 100% dumb luck...not saying its true, just my opinion on what went down...i hope they address this in detail at the reunion show...
  2. Wow you guys are really making it seem like Russell just took a shot in the dark, as if he just flipped a coin. I'm pretty sure Russell thought out all the possible scenarios and went the route that gave him the best shot. I'm not saying that Russell didn't get lucky, but to make it seem as if it was totally luck and had no clue what the outcome was going to be is ridiculous.
it's like he bluffed the river with K high and got called by Q high :Plike ive said before tho, i love russell and think he one of the best survivors ever and i have mad respect for his game...but IMO, he survived that tribal council on 100% dumb luck.
  3. Coupla things:Don't forget about WaltWhich Kwon is a candidate? Could it be their child? This child was, i think, concieved on the Island (but not born there)
my guess is Jin...supposedly, Jacob has been watching all the candidates since their childhood...if it was Sun, I would think she would be refered to as "Paik"(sun's maiden name) in the light house instead of Kwon? who knows tho...
  4. 1. I would think it would be quite high, based on the fact that I/Russell knows that Tyson can't stand Parvati. Put it at 80+%2. Again, pretty high, based on his intuit that Tyson thinks Parvati is a waste of skin. Both of these loose assessments are based on me vaguely recalling something Tyson may have said about Parv at some point. Add to this the fact we don't see a lot of the conversation, we can't be sure that, earlier in the season, Russell and Tyson ahd a convo about Parv and possibilities. That being said, I stand by my %'s above largely due to Russell's ability to read relationships in this game. He's as close to flawless as anyone I've seen playing this game.On a related note, I was super sad to see Boston Rob go home, but it was only a matter of time before he and Russell squared off. I would have like to have seen him make the jury, because if either he or Russell made it to the finals, I'm pretty sure they would vote for each other out of respect for their games. Whether or not they like each other is a different story.
80+%??sorry bro, that would just be just delusional...how can you give an 80% chance, even if you know tyson hates parv...you also know tyson thinks parv is going home regardless if he changes his vote or not...
  5. There's no such thing as 100% convinced in this game, and Russell is smart enough to know that. I don't think that he was confident about what was going to happen, but I do think he considered the possibility and made his move with a very high level of thought. He took a calculated risk. I think he deserves more credit for it than he would if he were just taking a random shot in the dark, but I also don't think he is some omniscient superman that knew for certain what was going to happen.
the "100%" benefits your side of the debate :)so, forget the 100%...after talking to tyson, what percentage would you give on tyson changing his vote?
  6. 1) I'm always confident in my opinions, even in the face of evidence suggesting otherwise.2) In this case the evidence is on my side.3) You and I have differing definitions of 'very very very unlikely'.
i have 2 questions for you...1)lets say it was you instead if russell in the game, and you were 100% convinced that tyson believed you when you told him you were voting parv...what kind of percentage would you give on tyson changing his vote? (remember, you know they are spliting the votes and you know tyson has no need or no reason to change his vote)2)lets say russell was 100% convinced tyson believed he was voting parv...what kind of percentage do you think russell gave himself on tyson changing his vote?( russell knows they are splitting the vote abd russell knows tyson has no reason or no need to change his vote
  7. This isn't correct. If he thought they were splitting the votes, he knew his only chance was to convince Tyson to switch his vote and then save Parvati. And he got lucky that Tyson switched and that his only chance ended up succeeding. If he thought they weren't splitting the votes but just all voting for Parvati, then he probably would have just given her the idol before tribal and not even talked to Tyson. He wouldn't have needed to talk to Tyson. "They were all voting for Parvati and Russell would just get to choose who to vote out." How it went down basically proves that Russell knew exactly what was going to happen.
how can you be so confident?its like there is no doubt in your mind that russell gave up the idol and risked going home on not just a long shot, but a coinflip to be a long shot...im not saying its impossible, just very very very unlikely.
  8. This was alll before the conversation with Tyson, which I think changed everything for Russell. Tyson agreed Russell needed to vote Parvati to save his own ass. And Russell's reaction at tribal after seeing a few votes for him looked like he expected it and kept his cool/cocky demeanor, but who really knows what went through his head.
lets look at this from russell's prespective expecting a split vote..."ill talk to tyson and act like im voting parvati and hopefully he will change his vote even tho he still would have no reason or need to change his vote...its a longshot but it might work...oh, and hopefully tyson's actually assigned to vote for me and not for parvati, gotta win the coinflip...so, ill give the idol to parvati even tho i need to win a coin flip to be a longshot or im going home"i just dont see this happening, i really think russell went in thinking that parv is getting all the votes...like i said i hope im wrong but i dont think so....i hope they discuss this during the reunion, im dieng to know what exactly happened.
  9. He mentioned it.
ok, i just rewatched the episode online, and am now CONVINCED he went to tribal thinking pavrati was getting all the votes...the 3 way tie had crossed his mind but he really thought all the votes were going to parvati... if that play was russell's hail mary desperate attempt at making something happen, he wouldve told parv and danielle this is what i hope happens...after all the votes, parvati and danielle had a dumbfounded look on their face, abd daniell actually said "what just happened"15:45Rob talking to jerri coach sandra tyson: "were voting parvati everybody, but we have to make sure they think it's russell so that he plays the idol"17:00russell to parvati and danielle: "theyre trying to flush the idol out of me, rob told me its gonna be me...i aint stupid, theyre gonna vote parvati, but this is what i wanna do, i wanna put tysons name down and i wanna give you(looking at parvati) the idol tonight...any one of us can go tonight, but i aint stupid, theyre trying to blind side you. (looking at parvati)26:00russell by himself to the camera: "the smartest thing for them to do is make it a 3 way tie, that would fource the idol and they can play how they wanna play on the 2nd vote...that would be a genius move, i dodnt know if theyre that smart"
  10. Russell explicitly mentioned the possibility that they might be splitting the votes if I recall correctly, so he was certainly aware of the possibility and was almost certainly playing with that scenario as a consideration.
i just watched it a few hours ago so its pretty fresh for me still, and i dont remember him mentioning that at all...maybe i missed it, i would double check but i deleted it from my tivo.
  11. What is the logical explanation for giving up the idol if he didn't know this scenario would work? Giving it to Parvati meant he was pretty darn convinced she would need it. They knew he had the idol, so he at least had to figure they were coming from him if it wasn't a split. I just don't see the logic in giving Parv the idol if he didn't think this exact scenario would go down. The only thing would be that he thought they would flush the idol AND get rid of Parvati by all voting for her. I think the key convo was with Tyson, who agreed that he needed to vote Parvati to stay alive. I think that's what led Russell to doing what he did.
i think Russell thought they were all voting for Parvati, there was a convo he was having with somebody where he says something like "i know theyre just trying to flush the idol out by acting like theyre gonna vote for me, i have no problem giving Parvati the idol"i dont see anyway he would give up the idol if he knew they were splitting votes....I truly hope i end up being wrong cuz that would truly be the SICKEST(sorry looshle) play pulled off in survivor history.
  12. I just watched the last 2 episodes...and all i've got to say is Russell has a gigantic horse shoe stuck up his ass...You guys gave him waaaaay too much credit for last week.Don't get me wrong, I love watching him and I think he is one of the best survivors in history...I was crushed when those little bithces didn't give him the million he deserved last season, I almost swore off the show forever...I'm rooting for Russell(Pay that man his money) this season along with Colby(he's always been one of my favs) and Jerry(I have her in the pool)That being said, it is mind bogling how lucky he got...there is no way in hell he knew how they were splitting the votes...like looshle said, he would be gone if Tyson was assigned to vote for Pav instead of Russ...if I had to guess, I bet he didn't even realize they were splitting the votes...Russell giving up the idol and everything working out perfectly was awesome to watch, but I think there was a whole lot more luck involved than skill(regarding this one paticular tribal council and things leading up to this one paticular tribal council)...Doesn't change the fact that he's still one of the best if not THE best survivor in historty. After the way he was robbed last season, if anyone deserves to get lucky, it's him...I could be wrong but that's my take...I'm sure we'll find out exactly what happened during the reunion show...

  13. yep. If they are 12-1 in three weeks, then they are for real. Even a tough loss might be for the best. They have barely played any close games this year. That can come back to haunt you.
eww, i hope not...the nfc is pretty weak this year and its starting to look more and more like a viking/saints nfc championship game...home field is going to be huge...if those 2 teams end up meeting inthe nfc championship game, i really think the team playing at home is going to win...i really wouldnt be suprised if both the saints and colts lost this week...saints have been flirting with danger this past month and they are playing a good team, and the colts have a division game on the road against a descent team...
