  1. Lets just say hypothetically I make $30k this year from poker and rakeback combined... I need to figure out how to handle this legally so the IRS does not kill me. Anyone living in CT ever won anything more than $10k in poker winnings and paid the taxes on it?For the last few months poker has been my only source of income. I am a professional poker player technically. Should I try to get all of my tax stuff set up and file as a professional poker player? I dont want to mess up lol

  2. Unless you have the absolute dream hand, (straight with a 2 pair or better) then I am about 43 EE if you call. More often than not, since I checked and the guy to my left min bet... your standard play 100% of the time is to pot it basically with anything and usually with nothing. There are advantages and disadvantages of playing certain styles... If you always bet when its checked to you, I am going to CR you. If all you do is overcall, im going to bet huge. If you never bet and always call a little bit, im going to always value bet you. If you are a maniac, im going to overvalue my hands against you. Against you, and a handful of other players, I will make that play because I know you would easily do it with air. This time, you ended up having the dream hand and I was 30EE. Most often you will just fold to my CR. You limped with an unpredictable hand and saw the perfect flop for your hand. And like I said, the reason I checked was so that you would bet with air and I could collect your donation. Yeah there are risks to over valuing hands against LAG/semi lag opponents but if you never stand up and defend yourself against someone like that, your stack will just disappear... More often than not, we both just get into 60/40s and 40/60s and 55/45s and 45/55s And as far as my winnings... its not that much, but I haven't been playing as much as I would like. Now that I am moved into my new place and am playing to pay for my living expenses, ill probly be playing more... but my total net profits this year are about 6.2k from cash games on FTP. Soon Ill be playing more 1/2 since my BR can support that safely while multi tabling it.

  3. I was 30 EE boo hoo...You are going to mock me on the forums? Looks like im not the only one to ever get my money in bad or... drawing dead. Now can we just be pals? 4. I would call or maybe raise in that spot. Any low card will probably give me freeroll outs. If the ace or 2 comes it could counterfeit someone and then I could easily take the pot by betting the turn.

  5. Lol yeah. I learned a ton about poker tracker now. I have 14,000 hands on a friend of mine and it shows him being down $400 net but hes up a lot over 30k hands. I stopped looking at $$ won and lost when I had Bourgoune I think that's how you spell his name... up $1200 over 35k hands, but my friend had bourgoune DOWN $1500 over 30k hands.. I look at the autorate player thing eventhough I think it is a little too strict (out of 9,000 people in my DB only a handfull are the Moneybag sign...The standard auto-rate player thing has me rated as an Eagle.

  6. what does it mean if my total winnings are 1/8 of my showdown winnings? How would it compare to if my total winnings are 1/2 of my showdown winnings? Does a low total winnings rate compared to a much higher showdown winning mean that I am folding too much when I am ahead?

  7. I have found NLO8 50/1 to be the juiciest game. Especially when 1stock1 is playing. I have played over 150k hands this year (not that much but still) and am up quite a nice chunk of change. Had I not cashed out a bunch to buy a car, id be playing 1/2 since I have seen a lot of very bad players like Kideddie7 and 1stock1 play there frequently. FTP forced me to close my old account though so I play as Ralgoth now.

  8. Hey DN, I read your most recent blog. I noticed that you said you are trying to lose weight and build muscle. You gotta be eating tons of mixed wild/brown rice... Beans... Oatmeal... (do you drink skim milk?) Just remember it is calories in, calories out. It doesn't matter what you eat or how much of it you eat as long as you burn it off.I am guessing that its harder for you to build muscle because you are most likely an Ectomorph. So if you really want to bulk up just get your hands on a load of protein powder (Natural, expensive Whey protein Isolate) I don't use it because I'm a mesomorph. The most important thing I wanted to say though, is that you should seriously start the PX90 workout...You don't have to go to a gym, you don't need anything fancy. It's primarily just a workout involving using your own body weight and dumbbells. The results are incredible and if you are hardcore and serious about it, you will see fast results... But if you go hardcore with it, you will feel unstoppable. Ps can I be your personal trainer? I can also teach tennis :club: I can also make really nice pottery

  9. I think he had AK or AQ of spades. I think when people look back at their hands it generally means that they don't have a pair because they are checking to see if their two suited cards are the same suit as the flop. If he is checking this, then it pretty much means that he doesn't have a pair. Thats what I think it means. I think he called and you won

  10. Ahhhhh how do you put one cent into the pot on that flop? What are you hoping for the flop to be though anyway? K55? KK8? K23 and dodge someones low-wrap? Maybe a 222 or 666 flop? lol anything other than the above mentioned flops are worthless for your hand. I auto check fold the flop.Yes the guys play was bad, but I have no sympathy because you played the hand very poorly.

  11. Unless this guy is an absolute drunk fish , I fold on the flop when he makes it 90. I don't mind just calling his raise pre flop because then it really helps limit your perceived strength. There is always a danger of disguising the strength of your hand though, as DN thoroughly explains frequently in his tournament summaries. If I make that call on the flop and he shoves all in on the turn then I am 100% folding. Is he really doing this with AQ/KK? Those are the only hands that you can realistically beat here. This is a tough spot to be in but you are up against QQ, 66 or 22 here. I would guess that you are up against QQ at least half the time and if I saw no hole cards I would bet my life that one of you had a set and that it was 2 high pocket pairs vs each other. If I was cruising and felt like I could do nothing wrong though, AA would probably look like the nuts and it would probably feel like they were donking off with AQ.Its sort of like having a low flush against a super tight player who raises you. Tough spot, but you have to know when to fold it.Edit: Also, I'm not going to agree with your play just because you are a cute poker chick that has a future and is going to school :club:

  12. I dont get it... the house makes more money if more hands are played. If the house really wanted to rig the game, they would make it so that nobody busts so that the game never ends and everyone has to go to the cashier to add on more money when their bankroll starts getting short. Why would they intentionally empty out your account? They don't make anything when you deposit. They make a lot when you play raked hands over a long period of time :5c:club::ts:4h

  13. Limit Omaha 8 is like any other limit game. If you are getting the right price on your call... lets just say 6-1 on the river, you basically ask yourself "am I in a winning spot 1 in 6 times?" the answer is usually yes against most players. Against very solid very tight players the answer would probably be no.

  14. I think my goals are to let my bankroll grow by primarily 8 tabling and trying to get satellites into 200+ buyin tournaments where I can "win it big"It *looks like* the games become much less juicy as the stakes go up, and there's no reason to play against tough opponents when there are so many bad players who play smaller stakes. If I had a bankroll for 1/2 id be 8 tabling that and making over $1300 in rakeback a month + profits and by then id be able to enter so many bigger tournaments that id be bound to get lucky a few times.Besides, I think if you put me down in an average full ring game of 5/10 PLO8 I would be at least a small profitable player. The only thing that holds me back is my bankroll and the only thing that used to hold me back was my bankroll management

  15. stunning... my horrible luck turned around and my stats have improved X3 in just one session.... :club: I play on FTP and I find that LO8 tends to be far less profitable than NLO8 and PLO8if you want to play 08 though... Only play 4 cards 10 or higher, Any hand that has A2 (3,4,5,6,7,8) X in them, you can play hands like A35K and 2345 if you can get in cheap. I usually play double pair hands frequently if I can see a flop for cheap. Dont play for half of the pot. Remember that if you have a straight draw with no low draw, and one of your 4 outs is a low card, you will split the pot. Remember that if the low is already out there and you are drawing to the nut flush, you need to have much much better odds to draw to it since you are only getting half at best.Dont get overly excited to hold the nut low unless you have at least 1 pair with outs for 2 pair or better. Generally speaking, at these stakes, you will be ahead if you have nut low with top pair. Don't play a big pot without a big hand... fold for 4 hours straight if you have to. Wait for dynamite before putting in your money. I read that this is a game of home runs, not singles and doubles. an example of 2 hands....A 10 2 7 on a board of 10 3 4 that has 2 diamondsA 2 5 6 with the nut diamond draw on the same 10 3 4 board that has 2 diamondsWith the A 10 2 7 hand, you could be beat by a lot of hands. You could be in rough shape against certain hands. Generally speaking it is a profitable situation to be inwith A 2 5 6 however, you 100% of the time know where you are in the hand... absolute worst case scenario you are basically break even. This hand is a dynamite hand. You have a complete wrap nut low/nut flush draw. This is a true omaha hand, get in all of your money with this beast as soon as possible#1 most important bit of advice - play really really tight and play full handed. Full handed I usually play 24-28% of hands dealt.

  16. So I just got poker tracker omaha and have been doing a lot of data mining and I wanted to have an opinion from the community142 sessions+ $356 13,176 hands 214 hours1.31 bb/100VP$IP 18.18RPF 4.08 W$SD 53.54As you can see, I have been getting absolutely sodomized on FTP lately. By the end of the month Ill have made over $1200 in rakebackI firmly believe it is in my best interest to play as many tables as possible and earn as much rakeback as possible even if my win rate suffersPros and cons of playing 8+ tables at once+ A lot more rakeback+ Tons more Full Tilt points which translates directly into tokens/tournament buy ins/Ipods/tvs+ Lots of ironman medals / easy entry into Ironman Freeroll+ Ability to be at the right table at the right time when someone is spewing / always be at the juciest table- A less impressive win rate (unless you are an absolute master at 8 tabling I guess)- more short term varianceIf I continue to do what I am doing I will not have the best win rate at the stakes I am playing but I will make a lot of profit as well as set myself up for more big tournament entires (Im like 0/40 in cashes from my $26 tokens that I have made from full tilt points) :club:
