  1. Pitt TD: I flipped out!Miami TD: I was pissed!Pitt TD: I flipped out!Miami FG: I was pissed!Miami TD: I wrote the bet off as a loss and prayed that this wasn't a scam.Pitt TD: I'm still not confident, but I start watching again.Pitt INT: I about **** myself.Pitt missed FG: I about kick the TV.Pitt INT TD: I damn near had a heart attack.Rest of the game: Couldn't watch...my heart was racing.Keep in mind that I was the idiot that jumped on the bandwagon WAY too early, and had the bet placed for Pittsburg at -5. When I heard Big Ben was out, I all but wrote the whole thing off. This is by far the most I have ever bet or won in my life, and unless another no-loss bet like this comes around again, I'm done with it.

  2. I still think the Steelers have a decent shot to win the game still. They have one of the top defenses in the league, plus the steelers are more of a running team. Big Ben is pretty efficient, but I"m pretty sure the backup will do just as well. (Maddox right?).If you haven't figured it out by now...I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just want the Steelers to win.
Ditto...I'm trying to convince myself that the Steelers can still win without Big Ben and Hines Ward. Your good Defense plus good running game sounds like a convincing argument.
  3. Young and dumb is all I have to say.that's damn right that cigarette companies got their filthy asses sued for billions. unfortunately it's not stopping them from trying to hook the people en masse.
Like I said...it is their job to try to get people to use their products. If they were in the business to get people to stop smoking, chances are, they would stop manufacturing cigarettes. The fact of the matter is that the demand is there, and there are companies willing to provide the supply.
as the former MD who used to work for the cigarette companies testified as a key witness, "hook 'em young, hook 'em for life" was the motto at RJ Reynolds.so your grandmother gets taken by a slick con man, it's not the con man's fault -- your grandmother must take responsibility for her gullibleness.
The tobacco executives were wrong to target consumers that consume their product illegally, and they paid the price for it. But marketing cigarettes, alcohol, and fatty food is not, in itself, illegal or immoral. The con man, on the other hand, is doing something blatantly illegal, so he is at fault in your weak attempt at a comparison.
(edit: oh and yeah, CAPITALISM, only the most perfect -- absolutely 100% perfect system the universe has ever known. Nothing ever goes wrong in a capitalist system. never a single problem. Perfect capitalism -- lets make every drug (meth, cocaine...)in the world available in every walmart, and then let the corporations MARKET just how incredibly wonderful brand XYZ cocaine is or how much housework can be accomplished from a little snort of meth...)(edit2: in 2001 the alcohol industry spent over $800 million trying to hook 'em young, hook 'em for life. Today, with all forms of advertising it is approaching $1.5 billion. I see something wrong with that. --and they have congress firmly wrapped up.)
Capitalism is perfect. The only problem is that it must be implemented with the basic assumption that people are responsible for their own actions. You could make illegal drugs available at Wal-Mart if there was a market for said drugs and they ceased to be illegal, but the people that purchase and use said drugs are responsible if they get hooked or suffer side effects from those drugs. People like you do not realize that the more laws passed by the government, and more restrictions on free markets makes the United States a less free country. You need to learn how to look out for you own best interest instead of demanding that the government make your life "safer" by restricting what can be produced or marketed by corporations.I don't give half a **** what the advertising budget of alcohol companies are. If they have the money, then they obviously sell a product that people want. More power too them.
  4. gov't hypocracy is what it boils down to.it's okay for the alcohol companies to bombard the nation's young men with almost a billion dollars worth of beer commercials from his very first TV football viewing at age 8...it's okay for the alcohol companies to burn in that image of how totally cool it is to go clubbing and drink Molson Ice...but when that impressionable young person gets pulled over and blows .082, ends up in jail, misses time from work, and has to cough up an extra $8,000 for all the fines and xtra insurance --- where are the alcohol companies?they're laughing their asses off in the board room saying, "hey it works".meanwhile our pus.sy politicians with their heads up the asses of the lobbyists choose to only get tough on the impressionable youth.Go Muslims! Kick our asses
You are exactly what is wrong with America right now. Whenever you do something stupid, your immediate reaction is to look for somebody to sue, or at least blame. Cigarette companies market their product (which is their job...they are supposed to market the product to make sales to make money...it capitalism), so it is somehow their fault that you smoked 2 packs a day for 10 years and now have lung cancer.McDonald's has fatty foods, so they are somehow responsible for you eating that **** every day for 20 years, so it's their fault that you are fat and will die of a heart attack before your 40th birthday.Alcohol companies market their product, so they are responsible when you drink yourself retarded and either wrap your car around a tree, or kill somebody's father in an accident, or get pulled over and get a DUI, or die of liver cancer when you're 40.How about this? YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS! If anybody claims that they are unaware of any of the above consequences before they perform those actions, then they are delusional.OP: The term is not don't drive drunk. It is "Don't Drink And Drive". You drank, you drove, and now you get to pay the consequences. It isn't the cop's fault. It isn't your friends' fault. It isn't the beer company's fault. It isn't society's fault. IT'S YOUR FAULT! Have fun with your fees, increased insurance, and criminal record.
  5. I find it amusing that so many people these days take everything they hear as fact, without even thinking about questioning what they hear. Young people so often read something and automatically believe what they hear or read as fact. With the circus that is big media today, I wish that people would actually do some research before they commit to a belief system, instead of thinking one thing and only looking for evidence to back that belief up.
You have precisely nailed the problem, Jeepster. The only problem is that the conspiracy theory sites that WingNut links to are just as credible as the major media outlets and governmental press conferences these days (i.e. each of them hover around 0% credibility). There is so much secrecy, supposedly for the sake of national security, that we are willfully giving up civil liberties for threats that either cannot or will not be substantiated. The government (and I'm not only talking about Bush here) benefits substantially from having a fearful populace under their control. It gives them power that is not even remotely comparable to those powers laid out in the Constitution, and in fact, several of these "implied" powers (that Bush keeps talking about) are in direct opposition to limits on governmental powers outlined in that document. What better way to instill fear in the civilized world than to constantly remind them of a terrorist threat that is at least indirectly caused by the government that is supposed to be protecting us. Now, the Western Superpowers have taken to prosecuting pre-crime (a la Minority Report) by saying that they have successfully thwarted terrorist attacks while providing little or no evidence that said attacks were imminent. If you don't believe that the government is just a huge PR machine, then think about this. Somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3 of Americans still believe that Iraq and Saddam Hussein were responsible for the 9/11 attacks. I don't even think the Bush administration ever made this claim...but the timing of the war (immediately after the invasion of Afghanistan), and repeated claims that the war in Iraq is a front in the War on Terrorism, has led Boobus Americanus to make the connection between the two in their minds.
  6. Is that bar/club next to the poker room still go off with really loud music every 30min or so? That was getting really annoying, I never did go look what it was.
You should have checked it out. That is Centrifuge, and along with that music comes VERY hot bartenders/waitresses wearing not much dancing on the tables and bar. I've heard that the later it is in the night, the less they wear, but I was only there until about 10 pm.
  7. huh? all the betting on the steelers is going to push the spread the other way, to -6 or -7.
Yeah, what he said. The point of the spread is to get 50% of the wagers on each side of the game. If more money is going on the Steelers, then the books will try to get more people to bet on the Dolphins. If the Steelers have to win by more points in order to win the bet, then the Dolphins will be a more attractive bet. Therefore, this promotion should single handedly push the line UP by 1 or 2 points (i.e to 5.5 or 6.5). That is, unless some of the previous posters are correct and Mansion is covering their *** by hedging in order to minimize their losses if the Steelers were to cover. That way, a nearly equal amount would be bet on both sides of the game and the line will stay put. I don't think there is any way that enough money will be put on the Dolphins to push the line anywhere near 2.5.
  8. WTF you were playing .10/.25 with a 5 dollar bankroll ? OMFG thats insane....shame on you. That game is way over your head man what are you thinking thats just bad bankroll management. LMFAO (the bankroll management dooshes would rather you play 01./.02 cent limit)
Uh...I think you need to re-read my post. I had a $35, freeroll, bankroll on Empire at the time. My bankroll is more than sufficient to play .10/.25 (although most of it is tied up in the Steelers bet right now), but Empire gave me free money so I was screwing around with it.I know you were joking, but at least get the figures right if you are going to rag on me.
  9. 100% bonus up tp a 1000$!!!i guess im leaving the money on the site wheter i win or lose and im going to try to clear that bonus.
You better leave all of it until you clear the bonus. I know a lot of sites will void the bonus AND ALL WINNINGS TO THAT POINT if you withdraw ANY funds before an active bonus is cleared. If you get the deposit bonus, win this bet, cash out the funds, then try to clear the bonus, you will likely only get your original $1100 out and forfeit both the $1000 win and the bonus money.
  10. The spread on sportsbook is Steelers -4. Not that -4 to -4.5 matters in this case, cuz a push is a loss.
I'm kinda pissed at myself for betting early and missing out on the -4.5 line. But my thinking at the time was everybody is going to be betting on the Steelers because of this promotion, so if anything, that will push the line higher. I never thought that we'd see the line drop at all before the game.
  11. I noticed this thread getting bumped last night and re-read the first few pages. I had just gotten some free money from Empire, and was about to cash it out (only $35 after I cleared it), so I decided to give the strategy a try. I was down about $5 (playing $25 buy-in, $0.10/$0.25 blind NLH) from the blinds and missed sets/flushes. Then I pick up A4 hearts, and limp in. Flop is 3 hearts, Jack high. I'm on the button, and there is a min. bet, call, and raise to $1.50 in front of me when I push for $18.xx. Two folds, then this guy thinks for almost the whole time (20 seconds, I think) and calls with KK with the K of hearts. It was beautiful. I left immediately after that because I wanted to go to bed...that probably steamed the guy even more.

  12. its been discussed in this threrad...check the other pages, i posted my chats with their support...the money will be availabe for wd right after the game.edit...its on pg 3 of this thread.
I think he is talking about a deposit bonus on the $1100 deposit needed to make this bet. If that is the case, I think I heard of some people on Pocket 5's getting a 1st deposit bonus, but I don't know how much it was or what you would have to do to clear it. I, for one, wanted to be able to make a quick exit after winning or breaking even on this bet, so I didn't investigate any type of deposit bonus. It might be worth your while to deposit about $1500, get a deposit bonus, make your $1100 wager, then use the extra $400 to work off the deposit bonus before the game. It might be risky and jeopardize the promotional bet though, so I would steer clear until I confirmed that it would work with the Online chat people.
