  1. The first candidate to figure this out and put together a moderate campaign, to exploit this situation and run to correct it, will be the next president.
Therein lies the problem. Badnarik spent over $1 Million on his campaign, and had I not mentioned him before, most people wouldn't know who the hell I was talking about when I mention his name. The media typically picks one particularly useless 3rd Party candidate (it was Nader during the last election), makes some jokes at his expense, and that is their "comprehensive coverage" of the 3rd Party ticket. The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) is led by former party leaders from the Republicans and Democrats. What chance is there that a 3rd Party candidate can even make it on the stage with the "Big Two" to debate real issues (not just the respective talking points of the Republicrats)? None...in fact, if they try to get in, they get arrested quietly outside of the venue.
  2. If this country was libertarian from the get go, there would never have been roads, dams, police forces, armies, etc.
Those things would exist, but they would be built and maintained by private industries. I know this sounds like a bad thing on the surface, but think of the value of competition in roads and dams...they would be better built and better maintained so that you would pay to use one company's roads over another. That's right...you would have to pay to use roads...but you wouldn't have to pay to build roads in places that you never visit, as you are doing right now (through taxation).Capitalism thrives in the Libertarian utopia (that will never exist).
  3. I have seen this topic popping up in all of the online poker ban threads, so I thought I would give the Libertarians on this forum to make a compelling case in a single thread. Below are some snippets from other threads, including my case for voting Libertarian.

I voted Libertarian in the last presidential election. If anybody had actually taken the time to look at what Michael Badnarik had to say, a lot of other people would have done the same. Instead, they just do exactly what their party leaders told them to do, or what the media told them to do and voted Red or Blue. I don't give a rat's *** when people tell me that I flushed my vote down the toilet, or that I'm a nutjob for voting 3rd party. I voted for the candidate that I thought would do the best job. I have heard countless people saying that they voted AGAINST Bush, or AGAINST Kerry. I say that THEY are the ones that flushed their vote down the toilet because they didn't vote for the candidate that they thought would do the best job...they just voted against the one that they thought would do slightly worse. And before you go railing against my attack on the media above, let me ask you something. If a candidate for President of the United States was arrested during the campaign, do you think you would have heard about it? Well, Badnarik and the Green Party candidate, David Cobb, were arrested outside of the St. Louis Presidential Debate because they tried to serve a Order to Show Cause that those two candidates were excluded from the debate. This news didn't exactly make it into the nightly news or the newspapers the next morning because, who cares? They were just candidates to lead our country.
"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers and then you cash in on guilt."Ayn Rand --- Atlas Shrugged --- 1957
Ayn Rand was a noted Libertarian. Coincidentally, Alan Greenspan was a student and collaborator of Any Rand's...until he became Fed Chief and completely trampled the Libertarian ideal of a gold standard.
I will vote Libertarian the moment the Libertarian party becomes relevant and runs a candidate that has a chance. Seriously I agree with alot of Libertarian ideals, but the biggest problem with our government really is the 2-party system and I see no way of changing that right now.
Hint: Elections are not like the roulette, where if you pick the winner you get a prize. They are your chance to speak your voice. If you vote based on "who has a chance", even if they disagree with you, you have completely defeated the point of elections, and harm yourself in the long run.
Seriously, voting in this election is like voting between eating filet mignon, a piece of **** with peanuts, or a piece of **** without peanuts. And everyone's saying, well pieces of **** usually win, so I'm gonna vote for the one with peanuts since that has more nutritional value then the one without. Either way you're voting for the same thing, and it's destroying the country.

  5. Anyone remember Roundhouse from SNICK?
I remember SNick before SNick was a show. It was just the Saturday night Nickelodeon lineup. All I remember about it was that it started with Hey Dude and ended with Are You Afraid of the Dark?. I'm pretty sure that is where a lot of the Nicktoons debuted.
  6. I am totally cool with people having opinions that go against mine. It really bugs me when 'celebrities' think because they have a certain skill or fame, then their opinions on any topic are gold.Daniel - You are a phucking high school drop out. You are a professional poker player. You are NOT an expert regarding political leadership, global politics, political policy, and the true workings of American government. You making such extreme unfounded statements (ie "Bush doesn't like black people" etc), shows your ignorance & maturity.
Uh, last time I checked, Daniel was a person. Just because he is famous doesn't mean that he thinks his opinion is gold. Also, just because he is famous doesn't mean that he stops having an opinion. The only difference that his fame brings is that more people will know his opinion, and some people will respect it more because of his fame. I don't agree with a lot of what Daniel says in his blog, but it really isn't any of my business, so I just ignore it and go on with my life. I don't agree with about 100% of what comes out the mouths of actors in Hollywood, but I still go see movies all the time. You know why? Their opinion, in no way, affects their abilities as actors. If it did, they wouldn't be good actors, and nobody would go see their movies.Your knee-jerk reaction to Daniel's expression of his opinion, on Daniel's own forum, no less, shows your lack of maturity.
  7. If anybody would like to gaze into a crystal ball and see the future of America, go grab a history book on the fall of the Roman Empire. There was no precedence for a society of that size and complexity, and at the time, members of the empire thought that they were invincible from previous historical governmental collapses. Turns out they were wrong. I'm hearing this same hubris from people, not only in this thread, but on TV, radio, in person, etc. The fall of Rome was nothing compared to what will happen when America collapses. I just hope I'm not around to experience it.

  8. I think you are missing the point. This discussion is not about wether or not Bush is a good president, but about Daniels comments regarding Ahmadinejad.
My post was a direct rebuttal to DrawingDead's post. Also, I was primarily making the point that Iran *should* be of no concern to us right now. The only reason that this is an issue is because Bush has some sort of agenda over there, so bringing Bush into the discussion was more than appropriate.
  9. Gosh, I dunno. Maybe because those wing nuts have no problem hurling two planes into two gigantic centers of commerce?
While you're entire post sounded generally like the ramblings of a retarded monkey, this line in particular struck me as stupid. Not only was Iran or Ahmadinejad not responsible for 9/11, but neither was Iraq or Saddam. I swear, hardcore Republicans that refuse to see any error in the ways of their leaders are getting scary now. That's one hell of a propaganda machine that Bush has running when he can publicly admit that Iraq/Saddam were not responsible for 9/11, yet his key supporters STILL believe the opposite. Bush has become very adept at creating faux patriotism by presenting bold faced lies as real intelligence. Then when somebody questions his motives, he doesn't have to answer, because all of the new "patriots" will attack that person for him.Bush's imperialistic attitude is dangerous, and it is about to get us into another unwinnable war. Think about it. We are currently fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are having trouble keeping enough active troops deployed to support those two wars. What is the option when we go to war with Iran? That would be the draft, for those of you who are too dense to figure out answers to rhetorical questions. Now, onto the reasons for war with Iran. Hmmm...they are Muslim, but we supposedly don't hate people simply for religious affiliation. Well, they have nuclear technology that they claim is for peaceful purposes and we cannot prove otherwise. Plus, if they are building a nuclear warhead, how is that reason enough to attack? Did we attack Pakistan when we knew for a fact that they were developing nukes? Nope. How about India? Nope. Why, all of a sudden, is this a big f***ing deal? I can tell you one thing for damned sure, if I had a crazy son of a ***** like Bush fighting wars on two of my borders, I would be developing a nuke myself.Despite what Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and President Bush tell you, AMERICA IS NOT THE WORLD POLICE! It is not our responsibility to end all injustice in the world. Especially when we apply our "justice" selectively.

  11. If it's available then he can get it. Just like the other poster said it has to be shipped to a FFL holder in your state. Unless you're friends with em they usually charge like 40-50 bucks. But, es, I'll ask him tomorrow. I should prolly wait til Monday. Tha's when the distributor will be open again.
That's fine. If I find it at the gun show, I'm going to buy it. I'll let you know so you don't have to ask him.
  12. Hey NicksDad, can you, or your ex father-in-law see if you can find the following gun ...Taurus M617TT4" barrel, 7-shot .357 MagnumTitanium revolver in Spectrum Blue finishNone of the gun stores or distributors around here can get it (I think it has been discontinued). I'm going to the gun show tomorrow to see if I can find it, but my hopes aren't high.

  13. Yah, 17 is a classic. I'm going to look up the 34 now. On impactguns.com they are selling a 17 with a Crimson Trace Laser for a little over $700 bucks. That seems pretty cool. Also, I am using it for target shooting. I can't pack heat in Canada.
You know that if you buy a gun online (at least in the states) it has to be shipped to a person with a Federal Firearms License (FFL). All of those people charge a transfer fee, and most will charge you sales tax on the purchase. I think that guns are one thing that, even though they have a better price online, it's better to buy them in gun stores.I'm going to the largest gun show in Kentucky tomorrow morning. I'm going to try to find a revolver that I've been looking for, and that place is definitely my best bet.
  14. But if it IS for self defense then when defending yourselfin close combat (for lack of better words) you press the gun against your chest while your off shooting hand is str8 out to keep them away. If your gun is compensated you will burn a nipple off :club:
I'm still not grasping your argument. If you are close enough to the person that you aim to shoot, then chances are they are going to knock the gun off target before you have a chance to pull the trigger. I would much prefer to be shooting at said person from across the room, which would give me more than enough room to pull the trigger without burning my nipples. Even if you are too close, I'm not so sure that the compensator flash would burn you...it is 6" or so away from the end of the gun. If I were that close, I would be much more concerned about the recoil of the slide hitting me in the chest. I've held a gun wrong and gotten the web of my hand hung in beween the slide and frame of a pistol...not pleasant.

  16. http://www.kel-tec.com/pf9.htmldecent (not great) power and it'll fit in a pocket unnoticed
I used to have a Kel-Tec .32. That was the smallest gun I've ever seen, but it was also a steaming pile of ****. It wasn't very accurate at all, if you could even line up the ignorant sighting system it had. It jammed all the time, and was a ***** to clean. The only thing it had going for it was the size and price (they are cheaper than dirt).
The 22 looks nice. How about the 17? It's 9 mm, the original Glock but ammo is 1/2 the price. I'm only shooting targets so really I don't need a 40 but would like a little bit of power so don't want to be shooting .22's.In Canada, barrel length less then 105mm is prohibited so the 27 is no good.
The Glock 17 is a solid gun. It used to be standard issue at several police stations in the US. I believe that they have switched over to higher caliber weapons, though, because 9mm has no stopping power.I want to get the conversion kit to make my Glock 22 shoot .357 Sig rounds. That's a cool looking bullet. It's a .40 shell casing necked down to accept a .357 bullet. You can use .40 guns and magazines with them, but you have to have a special barrel to shoot them.
  17. I don't think I'd want acompensated gun for protection.
Why not? It's easier to get back on target for multiple shots. I have shot it at night before and never really suffered from flash blindness...plus it looks cooler than hell with that V of fire coming out the top of it.
    how much are they?
What Sideshow Bob said...a little over $500 new 5 years ago. Mine was a little more because of the factory porting in the barrel.
  18. Since ia 38 wont go throuh the person you shoot , the car behind them, the house behind the car and the person down the street behind the house.
If you're using Hydra-shoks, even a .45 won't go through a person. The inside of that person will be liquified, but there won't be an exit wound.
Now this gun has stopping power. Shot one this weekend and it's a NICE piece of armour.
Yeah, but it costs about $1 per round to shoot, and the gun costs over a grand.
