  1. If EP had junk but played the same way...is that a small element of what strong poker is all about.EP sees you making a typical Top Pair bet to protect against flush and/or Straight draws, then pops it on the river. Whether he flopped two pair, trips, or nothing...is that not a plan for success? Of course he may be getting trapped to..but it may be awhile before any players catch on if he makes this move once an hour. Thus, is there any defense against it? Or do you just hope someone else will call him down to reveal his ways?.thanks again for the repliesps: Maybe it would be dangerous fo
  2. NLHE full ring game ($0.10 / 0.$25 NL )EP limps insay 2 others mp limperssb foldsHero: BB has KJo, checksPot = $1.10, 4 playersFlop: Kd 8d 5cHero Bets $1.25, EP calls, 2 foldsPot = $3.60, 2 playersTurn: 2sHero Bets $2.5, EP callsPot = $8.60, 2 playersRiver: 10hHero Bets $5, EP raises to $12, Hero should ?This is the scenario I get and cant play it right. The trapping player opponent complex. So I have 2 questions?1. What should hero do on river given the situation as is? call or fold river2. Assuming EP has pokets 8's, tell me how each player played this hand right or wrong. And how it s
  3. Seriously, his call of my pre-flop r/r to $5 after he just limped got my attention. So I bet small to say "Hey still interested" and then I get my answer. Stupid wimpy bet considering the odds of hitting the set is less than %15, and two pair was highly unlikely I'd say. No excuse now as I think about it.It's like he thought "Eh, I got AJ, but I can get this pot on the flop, watch me..he'll slow down when I call his pre-flop r/r"I have no idea what he had, except later I saw him play very few hands and be aggressive with solid holdings.Obvioulsy, I've got to be willing to risk losing to flo
  4. board comes 55QA (oh crap!) Kit reveals his AQ. So I was way ahead pf and won it on the river. If he knew me, he would never assume that AQ was good against my $3 r/r, as I rarely, if ever, bluff pf or play that loose. In response to DKE..I see the point of pushing, for on another day I was pushed off of A's after the flop when he called (after limping) my r/r from $2 to $5 pre-flop and then moved in for $20 after I sheepishly bet $5 on flop of 5,7,Q. I'm timid and folded suspecting a set. He played few hands and I convinced myself it was a good laydown; however, it could have just as wel
  5. A few times lately I've been new to a table or played against a new arrival and have had to make tough decisions ( well tough for me ).Playing Party $25 Max buy in nlhe bb=$0.259 handed5th hand you've seen.Hero ($24.50)Hero dealt (K, K)Hero is BBUTG Raises to $16 Folds to SBSB callsHero Raises to $4UTG Moves All In (putting Hero All In)SB foldsHero ?Only significant read: Current UTG player just won his last hand slow playing 22 when his set flopped and full house came on turn, beating 3K's for about $22 pot. Please crtitique the raise to $4 and suggest what Hero should do now. And with what
  6. back up?Not for me..anyone else getting in?I get a message from tech saying the real money area is down but will be up shortly.I just want to make sure that I dont need to do something like reload the software. (obviously i'm not to savvy on this tech stuff)Edit:lo and behold I tried again two minutes later and its going.
  7. point: justblazeok. But cut me some slack..I can be a dope once..or twice.
  8. that I caught my error and admitted to being newbie.
  9. As I understood Morton's theory (think I got name right) the lower flush draws flop call of 140 screwed the poster and made the AQ call good. A case where poster actually would want the worse hand to fold, so that AQ would have as well...maybe...gee..i guess without doing the EV who knows what the best scenarios would be without the knowledge we gain on later streets. Oh..and that was for limit anyway..see I'm newbie!Back to op. Yeah, I dont like getting cussed at table because I didn't put my opponent on "AK" when I called his pot+bb size flop bet and the board is As 7s 8h and I've got 9s-
  10. Odds of A,K, or Q landing by the river is ~ 3:1 forThus there is a 76% at least one of them will come.=1-38/50*37/49*36/48*35/47*34/4657% chance hit on flop68% chance hit by turnassuming you do not have any of themNumber of hands dealt is completely immaterial to the odds of one of them hitting the board unless u have any knowledge of what others have.
  11. For example, playing $ 0.10 / 0.25, we have a fella calling everything. For example, calling $6 (pot size) bets with AJ on the turn (two overs to the board) and catching his J. Ok…that happens, so I note. Then I get pocket Jacks in 3rd pos, raise pf to $2 and he is the only caller. BTW, I’ve been playing <25% of all flops, and winning around 45% if I see the flop. Flop comes Q,2,3, rainbow. I overbet..$6 into $4.35 pot. I’m thinking: a) Build it up because I’m likely ahead, B) Maybe he’ll finally fold his A-10ish hand. He calls. Turn brings another under card to my J’s but the secon
  12. Vade: Yes..beautiful!.. thanks for all the commentary. One detail: MP also has open end str8 draw..not that it effects his plays, but he was not drawing dead. And why is the turn bet for Player 1 automatic..for deception?Also..the SB should play first post flop...I know u know that..but I think you got it mixed up.Thanks again!Nevermind..Re-read..I missed it..got caught at work in conversation..and missed ...your fine on the betting order...Edit Again..geesh..ok MP did not have open end draw..only one 9 could help him..but he thinks he does, of course..
  13. To all the great hand analyst, of which I’m not one.We often see posts of hands played. Sometimes the outcome is not immediately provided, but the “Hero” is. To the extent that this one sided perspective skews the analysis, I thought I’d provide a hypothetical hand and ask for repliers to play thru the entire hand acting as each player.I’ll provide some Player Images and all the cards. Each player is not necessarily bound to act according to there image, but should consider how others perceive them and also assume their reads on other players’ styles match the images below. (Just make it m
  14. Jayson,I believe u are correct, Sir!Odds of flopping exactly 2 pair :In Excel: =COMBIN(3,1)*COMBIN(3,1)*COMBIN(44,1)/COMBIN(50,3)= 2.02% ~ 48.5 to 1 againstAKA: Ways to take 1 of 3, and 1 of 3, and 1 of 47, of the total ways to take 3 of 50.My rookie thoughts on the whole completing.. I would do it with anything because I don't always think mathematically and would look at it as "Small bet for huge pot possible". That explains my lack of success! The relevance of the 5.9% is that even if you see all cards against all 10 opponents and no more betting, you will only win enough to barely justify
