  1. The strict geolocation required by the NJ regulators has probably been the biggest problem the NJ sites have faced. Your experience has been a pretty common one.

As always, you are correct Bob.

My experience is pretty common. That is what frustrates me the most.

We all work to strict requirements. And most of us either meet those requirements, or we lose our jobs. The fact that these sites have put out such a poor product and still manage to operate is an insult to those of us who are held to higher standards. "We have to meet strict requirements" is a lame excuse for "We are incompetent."

It is also a very strong indication to not trust them with any of my (or your) money. Given the recent, and not so recent, history of online ( and live) poker, why would any sane person trust any of these individuals with any money at all?

I have only one option available to me to state my disappointment and disgust with the entire system. That is to take my money and run.

I have found other ways to relax in my time away from poker. I would have liked to include the game once again, but alas... it does not appear to be in the cards.

So sad... it could have been a good thing.

Oh well. Life goes on for a while.

    Take care Bob.

    You rock.

  2. So sad,

As a recreational player who missed online poker, I was looking forward to the lowly state of New Jersey being one of the first to

reinstate said poker in the United States of America.

I set up accounts on Party Poker, WSOP and 888 to evaluate the sites. I expected growing pains. I expected some hiccups and glitches. I experienced said issues. I also experienced some good times and made a few dollars in the process.

Unfortunately as of this point, the bad outweighs the good.

The constant and all too frequent disconnects never disappeared. I requested, received and installed the USB adapter offered by Party Poker to alleviate the problem. I sent numerous emails to support for all 3 sites specifically stating the frequency of my problems. I also told them, more times that I care to count, that I had state of the art hardware and software. I told them that I had numerous WiFi signals with strengths of 4/5 bars in close proximity. I could go on, but I will spare you tedium.

After a long stretch of days at work, I came home tonight to try and relax with a little poker.

    SURPRISE!!!

I could not play on any of the three major sites. They all said "We cannot determine that you are in New Jersey."

I pay extra for high speed access and a static IP address. Suddenly the system I have been using since before last Thanksgiving is no longer located in New Jersey.

Fed up... I decided to cash out all of my accounts. Like I said, I'm a small fish, I play as a hobby. It's supposed to be fun.

Lo and behold... Party Poker, supposedly the biggest player, will not allow me to withdraw my funds because I'm not in their approved area.

WSOP and 888 have at least, so far, approved my withdrawals. I'll believe it when it hits the bank.

I'm not talking large sums of money. I'm talking about the inability of "professionals" to deliver a product that doesn't implode.

Mediocrity has become the new excellence... and it depresses the hell out of me.

  3. To Fargo: You stood up for a friend, I admire that. Loyalty is rare these days.

To Cobalt: Yes it was not the best phrasing and I probably should not have used it. And thanks for the nod to the reason I was a little frustrated.

To King: How the hell are you? It's been a while.

Okay, enough arguments about trivial things.

    Group hug?

  4. Well, in Florida, they're clearly labeled re-entry. You bust...you can re-enter with a new stack in a new seat on a new table. A rebuy tournament typically means you can double your starting stack immediately and if you bust, you can buy back in for that same seat. There's also usually an add-on and you normally only pay rake on the first entry. So basically, there is an important distinction.

Alright already. There is a distinction.

So after all of this: Do you have an opinion on either side? Or are you just being obtuse?

  5. ...do you mean re-entry?

I suppose it's a matter of semantics. As a physicist, I think of NASA when I see the word re-entry. But the site uses the word "rebuy." And in certain cases the use "rebuy/add-on."

But I'm refering to the ability to repurchase chips when you have busted in a tournament. Whatever the terminology, I think they ruin the whole concept of a tournament.

  6. I've been away from poker for a few years. One of the biggest changes I've noticed is the proliferation of rebuy tournaments.

It seems that the majority of tourneys are now rebuy/add on. I know that the Borgata's daily tournaments are damn near all rebuys. Looking at the WSOP schedule online tonight, 90% of the tourneys scheduled in primed time are rebuys. 888 poker is not far behind. And I've given up on Party... their interface just blows.

Anyway, I really don't like rebuys. For the same old arguments that say something like: "gives the deep pockets an edge" etc.

But I also think it takes away from the "one shot to get it right" way of thinking.

    Thoughts?

It's a snowy Tuesday in NJ and I have some Knob Creek, some money in my online account and nowhere to go for the rest of the week.

    Life is good.

  7. After a day of sending and resending copies of the W-9 and my "Government Issued ID" I received my money.

I think they were just f-ing with me... every copy I sent was crystal clear. "too dark... too bright... blurry... etc."

    But it's all good.

Now... if only Poker Stars were available I'd be handing out stakes for an FCP barrage. 50/50, no stake back.

    Those were the days.

  8. Went deep in the $250K freeroll at WSOP.com last night.

Deep enough so that my winnings did not show up in my account. Then I received an email that basically said "congrats, you won some money... but we are not going to give it to you until you fill out some tax forms. You should get them in the next 24-48 hours. Just follow the instructions and we'll eventually give you your money."

Just pay me my money as quickly as you take my deposits.

  9. Play heads up online with BG and not respect his raises.

I'd also like to be able to play online poker in New Jersey without getting disconnected every 20 minutes because the clowns running these sites (note the plural) somehow have not been able to wrap their pin heads around the whole geo-location issue.

    Happy New Year to all!

  10. I'd like to wish all the best to the FCPers for this holiday season and the upcoming new year.

Who knows... maybe more of us Americans will actually be able to play online legally in the not too distant future.

    Take care.

  11. Oh David,

First you posted this on the wrong thread. Okay, we all make mistakes. No problem.

Now... it's Friday night... coming up on Xmas. I'm really in a great mood. I have already been banned as you so adamantly stated in your post. I have been given a second chance by the powers that be to return and be nice. I will do just that.

I did notice one thing about your post. If you filter it and omit every word that begins with a lower case letter and leave only the upper case... you are left with:

    Winona Christs I Ok Always.

    I rest my case.

    Merry Xmas
