  1. that is true...you will not find the side-game tournament circut travelers at the 1-2 no limit tables. But the players who bust out of the tournament(s) who do jump into the 1-2 nlhe side games will make the game slightly more lucrative. There are plenty of these players. Such players are those who won their seats into the major tournaments online or via live sats. and do not have the regular bankroll to play higher than $40-80...they usually resort to baby no-limit.

  2. The problem with the ‘home-game’ automatic shufflers is that they only shuffle the deck once. You have to repeat the process again to get another shuffle (at least all of the ones I’ve seen). Of course this is not a big effort or anything, but don’t think that you are actually saving time by buying one. It takes much less time to simply have two decks, with one being shuffled while the other is in play.

  3. I would say that side games during major tournaments are slightly more lucrative than normal. Reason being, that players who bust out of the tournament(s) jump into side games and attempt to make some of their buy in back. Also, the play of recently busted players is usually worse in a cash game. They’ve spent a certain amount of energy on the tournament and I find that they are less focused than usual. Plus, they have to adjust to cash game mode from tournament mode which is hard to do for some. On the flipside of this, there are plenty of people who travel the tournament circuit just to take advantage of these lucrative side games.

  4. You're gonna want to reaserch this a little. Here is my two cents though..you're gonna want to have starting chips in the 1500 to 2500 range..10000 will make the tourney last way too long for a community center event. The leingth of the rounds is the key for keeping the tournament to end at a general time. The shorter the rounds, the quicker the tourney. Again, ask around some more...but more than 3000 in starting chips is too much for a community center event.for poker players in reno, nv... check out www.renopokerreview.com for info on all of the b&m poker rooms in the area! Sumbit a review to us.

  5. I don't like the minimum pre-flop raise. If you would've raised to at least 600 (3 times the bb) or more, it would've been easier to put the BB on a certain range of hands if he came over the top of that. Coming over the top of a button minimum raise often is a (steal) re-steal. But your opponent has raised and you don't really know if he has a lagit hand. Therefore, in your shoes I would not have called the pre-flop raise from the BB - unless i thought he was re-stealing - and i would possibly put in another raise. but i am certainly not calling. I do not call a large post flop bet from my opponent, whether i lead out or not...It sounds like you were probably beat.

  6. After reading the last two posts, I am becoming a little confused re. DN’s cash game obligations to the Wynn Las Vegas resort. If I’m not mistaken – DN had some sort of official agreement to play all ring game poker at the Wynn. I understand, however, that he is able to play tournaments anywhere he pleases.I know that the big game (4000-8000) can be played at various places but is usually spread at the Bellagio. Has it moved to the Wynn? Or is DN playing at Bellagio because his Wynn agreement is up? Perhaps the Wynn agreement was only for six months or so. Does anyone know anything about this?
