Ok, next issue on the agenda.... a player must be on the NHL roster to be picked up. I hate when a guy gets called up on Tuesday, plays one game and then gets sent back down, thus becoming unavailable. I'd like to see it changed to as long as the player was on the roster at any point that week, he is available for pick up.

Essentially, the waiver is just considered a tiebreaker when 2 or more teams want the same guy.

Yes. If none of the other 19 were interested in that player that he shouldn't lose his spot.

I disagree. Why should a team retain their priority just because nobody else put in a claim on a player?

 

Because we don't have a way to simply pick up a free agent

Let's all remember this for the off season since it isn't something that will change in season.

 

I can see three reasonable ideas.

 

1. If nobody else claims a player you pick up then you don't lose your position for the next week.

 

2. All teams who pick up somebody move below teams who didn't pick up anybody but the teams who had to use their priority to get their players move behind the teams who didn't pick anybody up and the teams who picked up players who nobody else wanted.

 

3. status quo

 

#1 was immediately the solution I thought of.
