For those who aren't doing so hot...www.standupcomedyvideos.netEvery relevant comedian of the last 30 years. If you haven't heard Richard Pryor in a while you need to be reminded how he started it all.

Ugh.I'm leaning towards the push.I'll pay to see the set.It does suck though, that's for sure.

I'd prefer you bet more on the flop, at least the pot or even something like $125.We need to adjust to the villains' stack sizes, and we want them to decide to commit their chips on the flop.Judging by your read... I'm with Drew. If you're checking to induce the bluff, you got your wish.Remind yourself how crazy the table is and how tilting he is at you.And KJ would really, really suck.

Textbook case of where not to shove all-in, for three reasons. 1) Math isn't right. A shove would be $198 at $72, including villain's bet. You do that, you're only going to get called whenever you're destroyed.2) Flop is somewhat coordinated. JT isn't in terrible shape against us. And that's assuming we weren't out-flopped, which is entirely possible.3) We have position. Let's use it.The pot flop bet smells like a go-away bet. I'd prefer to just call the flop and wait to see what the turn brings. We can get away from the hand with a bad (8, J, K, A) turn card. If a complete brick comes, that gives HIM the tough decision of whether or not to bet and how much, not us.Now we're $162 behind in a $72 dollar pot, so we can shove over any bet he makes and it's a pot-sized bet. And, most importantly, if he's got a pair-and-a-draw type hand, we want to get the money in with 1 card to come, not 2.The point is, by just calling the flop, we can play with more flexibility AND more information in the hand. We can play "get to showdown" and try to keep the pot as small as possible. Or, we can sense weakness and lay down the hammer. Or, if the turn card is a good ol' UB special, we can cut and run.Position changes everything.

What about betting the turn instead?Your check screams to the world that you're scared of the ace.We don't really have any draws to protect against, so I think a $15 lead turn bet would let you know fairly quickly where you're at. Keeping the lead is important here, I think. As played, I'd say you have to make a position fold. Can't screw around out of position.

With no reads, you've got to give him credit for having one pair beat. Like bullet said... min-raise followed by a shove? Doesn't sound like AT to me.
-
Hypothetical question:Suppose he calls the raise and checks to you, and the turn is T or less.Do YOU push the turn?

The problem is relative position. We're directly behind the bettor, and raising faces the rest of the field with a double bet (usually making us heads up with the bettor, who has a pair and is ahead most of the time). We don't have the equity to play heads up, so by calling we induce other people to call, putting our equity edge to work. With 3 other people in... we're putting in 25% of the money and we've got somewhere between 30-35% pot equity. With 2 others, we're putting in 33% and we're not far from the "neutral" ballpark, but hopefully we make up for it profiting from implied odds when we hit, and saving bets by folding when we miss.Heads up, though, the split between our fraction of the money going in vs. our pot equity isn't likely to be favorable. Now, if there was a bet and a CALL and it got to us, we should raise for:a) free cardb) fold equityand most importantlyc) valueHow big would the pot have to be on the flop to try to raise to knock out any weak flush draws? -
I've been known to dark-raise for a round just to throw people off.Seriously though... it happens... maybe try to find some more marginal situations to raise. Anything you normally limp from the button or cutoff or MP3... throw in a raise and see what happens. Even if calling is clearly better, raising in late position instead can't be that much worse. For your second question, I say something like "well guys, I'd love to play, but I need my cards to add up to more than 9 first."

Actuary... you owe me a new laptop....Because I just threw up all over my old one.Cap preflop, bet/3-bet flop every single time.
I didn't have time to run poker stove...But I'm pretty sure AA has a somewhat favorable equity standing against that range.Must. Cap. Preflop.I put him on AK and JJ+ given the EP repop, 99-TT less, maybe AQs, but he might try to play mw with thatenough read bs, it's .5/1 -
I hate to be That Lame Guy in the strat forum...But why are we calling raises with T9o?I like the flop though. Some people PLAY position... you're WIELDING position there.Love the relative-position-awareness and the check-raise on the cheap street to knock MP2 out of the hand and put the pressure on the raiser.

That does sound sexy...But as the pot size increases, our inclination to raise/fold should decrease. Pot's too big to be pulling that, especially readless.hmm could we raise/fold the river? -

Mako's is going away?NOooooooooooooooooo!I know someone who works there. That place would be a lot cooler if it wasn't a $15 cover for dudes, and a ton of sketchy old guys running around trying to buy up all the shooter girls.

Which bars in Buckhead?I'm a big fan of the Hole in the Wall/Moondog's/Peachtree Tavern triumvirate. You can definitely find SOME pretty young thing with daddy issues who would like nothing better than to get hoo-wasted! Good times.you do know that most of those bars are getting torn down right? putting up a mall at the end of june or july.about the only one that will be left is Bellbottoms! Dave's bar! -
I remember you saying that when you were in town. It's true that there are some pretty good lookin' ladies down here, but Hotlanta was definitely hotter with you here! This doesn't happen often so take note, I agree with Norm.I've said it before and I'll say it again: The finest women in the world live in the greater Atlanta area. I felt like an ugly duckling with no chance of ever being a swan. -
Oh yeah... we've definitely got some nice butts down here in Atlanta. If you ever make it down here I'll take you to Buckhead where we hit up the binge-drinking college bars. Lotsa young girls down here with looking for a father figure in their lives, hahahaha

And now... for the high point of my day...Time for an office dump.Brb.

If there's one thing I've learned about poker...It's never be surprised about the general stupidity of people. If I think I'm losing, I think it'll be A2s. I'll still pay it off though.I'd be shocked if it was a concealed boat.for the record this was 3am eastern standard too. -
I found this uproariously funny. The crocodile says he has to check this out and walks into the rain forest, finds the tree where the koala is sitting finishing a joint, and he looks up and says "Hey you!"So the koala looks down at him and says "Fuuuuuuuuuucccccccccck dude.......how much water did you drink?!!" -
No straights out there.I call.Seems like it's an "I'm a fuck-tard" shove to me.

As much as Atlanta traffic sucks, I'm pretty much the best there's ever been at finding alternates and getting around traffic at all times of the day.I got my new car at the end of October, '06. It now has 21k miles on it.

I like this hand a lot.On the flop, your only choices are 3-betting or folding. Calling invites too many people to come in, and we're frequently ahead here.I think the turn raise is fine too. If he was drawing on the flop, he's still drawing, and we've improved. It's ESPECIALLY good if he's laggy. We need to keep the lead here. When the spade misses the river, I think we've got the best hand and a value bet is in order.
