You are completely misinformed.1. The seat is Non-Transferrable, so I cannot sell it. Seats won for the other events ARE transferrable but the seat for the main event is not, you either play it or lose it.2. I take nothing for granted, but you make a big assumption that I cannot play the game, and, therefore I am dead money.3. You assume that I cannot play the game and am relying on luck. You cannot be a good poker player and win without some luck. You cannot be a lucky poker player and win without skill. Fortunately I have the skill, the luck I cannot control.Let me ask you this question, if you are ever fortunate enough to be in a big event what exactly will be your mindset be going in to it? Gee I am just lucky to be here and have no chance to win? You are a very negative person, who will have a tough time succeding in anything you attempt if you think that way. I for one do not.You have no idea what I have conquered in my life, primarily because I refused to give in or give up. The mind is a pretty amazing thing, and it is remarkable what you can do when you put your mind to it.Quite frankly, I go into this with a large advantage, which is that most people will think like you and completely dismiss me and disregard me. I on the other hand will assume that every player I face next week is better than me until I prove that theory to be false. I am hoping that every player I face considers me to be deadmoney. They will discover very quickly that they are sadly mistaken.I can assure you that if that is how YOU think you will never win anything big. I have won 2 Blackjack tournaments.Mark my words, you will see me at a televised final table within 24 months. Will it be next week? I don't know. It will happen though, I assure you.I have cashed in 3 out 5 NL hold em tournaments including one first place finish at the Bike in July.Bottomline I am a postiive thinker! Do I know that I will win? NODo I believe that I have the skill and can win? YESI can only assure myself, and at the end of the day that's all that matters, that if I lose it will NOT be because I made a stupid move. It willl be because that particular hand I put all my money in the middle with the best hand and someone out drew me. Guess what if it happens, I will graciously say nice hand get up with my head held high, and prepare for my next tournament.I am playing poker for a lifetime, not just for next week. There will be many opportunities for me to succeed, god willing.I am going into this believing I can win. If I go into this believing that I am dead money and have no chance, then I have no chance.
Obviously you paid your buy-in to the satellite + any rebuys, and your seat is worth 10k$, so you've taken that for granted. To even think about making the final table when you are someone labeled as dead money, playing against some of the best players in the world, in on a satellite ticket shows that you don't have much of an understanding of what you're in for. Making a final table takes more than luck. If you are lucky, perhaps you can cash in the tournament. Good luck.P.S.- You could sell your seat for 10k$. So basically you are missing out on 10,000$ in your attempt to get lucky in a tournament you are unlikely to make the money in. Therefore, it is not "all plus" for you.
Not sure if you bothered to read my original post where I said IF I am fortunate enough to make it to the final table.I take NOTHING for granted, but I am not in for any rude awakening.I won the satellite in a live rebuy tourney, and it is a complete freeroll for me, so it is all plus and I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.I think you're in for a rude awakening if you are thinking about what to wear for the final table before the tournament has even started. -
That's exactly what I have decided makes the most sense. I have a pretty good sense of humor, which really was the only reason I brought up the goofy hat in the first place.I don't take myself too seriously, however I do take poker very seriously and I have a great opportunity here and plan to do my best with no crazy shennenigans.I will leave those to Mike the Mouth and the poker brat.I will just do my best to play a good game and get as far as I can.I am confident in my abilities to make a very good representation regardless of the outcome.Just be yourself and play good poker. Espn shows this event like the main event right? Like they show a feature table from each of the days? Hopefully you are able to get on the TV table and represent. Good luck. -

I just got around to reading the thread. I already decided last night no need for nonsense! If I had FCP gear I would potentially wear that, but I don't, so I can't. If I am fortunate enough to make to the final table, I will just concentrate on playing as good a poker game as I can.I am really pumped up about the opportunity. The structure if it is to believed is a fantastic one for a patient player who can play a decent game:Blinds start at $25-50$20K in starting chips90 minute levelsThere were only 187 people last year and with that structure I can see why it takes a full 5 days! One thing that really stinks, is the service at the Taj. I played in ring games for 10 hours last week, plus the super satellite, and now the main event and they STILL can't get me a room in their stinking hotel, or one of their sister properties. They are supposed to call me today by noon to see if they were able to get a room, so instead I made my own arrangements to stay at the Trop where I usually play.I know that Poker players are not treated like players of other games that generate more income for the casino but you would think they wouldn't want players in a $10k event staying elsewhere. I do play other casino games and I won't play any of them at the Taj!!

Okay now that Patrick is finished, I want a little advice. I didn't want to take away from his moment so I wanted to wait until he was finished before asking for advice for my potential moment of glory.I am thinking positive here, since I know I am a long, long way off from having to worry about this.As many of you know I am fortunate enough to be playing in the $10k main event of the US Poker Championships starting next Tuesday at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.If and yes, I mean if I am so fortunate as to make the tv table I want your advice on whether I go serious or goofy.I always were a ball cap when I play and I could just do that at the TV table which is about as serious as I get.I also have considered the very goofy approach which I am sure will get me much more attention but is really silly, which is to wear this really silly hat that my daughter has that is a jester's hat with the goofy bells and everything. It is a purple hat with the, not sure what to call them tassels, tentacles that the balls hang from of all kinds of colors. Now I figure that not only would I get attention, but this hat is sooooo over the top that it might distract people kind of like players claimed they were a little freaked out by Raymer's dumb glasses.Had I had time I was going to have a t-shirt created that would have read something like, I love FCP Ron Mexico on the front and Let's go on a Royal Tour on the back which would have only held meaning to the loyal FCP folks, but can't make that happen. So serious or goofy?

Nice job Patrick!

That's fantastic!Keep it up and good luck.I hope you make it to the TV table!

God look at that picture then go to www.wptbootcamp.com and look at her there!Shows what a whole lot of spackel, a good industrial strength trowel and some makeup can do.

While I understand where you are coming from and I applaud you for your new found conscience your thinking is somewhat flawed and the only one who will lose if in fact you are a good poker player is you. Here is why, Poker is no different then business, or life in general. The days of the gold watch and retirement and loyalty either by a company or an employee are long gone.Take for example Hewlett/Packard, when the founders of the company were alive, one of the things the company prided itself in was the fact that they NEVER laid anyone off.Do you think that is still the case today? NO! They have laid off many, many people. Life is rough, tough and ruthless.I have been in the games industry for 20 years and have had to move my family far too many times to count because, I have worked for smaller companies that downsized and I had to find another job.My current employer is fantastic, and the company is doing very well, but guess what? We just laid off 30+ people a few weeks ago. Now did we let these people go because they were bad people and or doing a bad job?No we let them go as a cost cutting measure. The point I am making in all of this rambling is that you need to take care of yourself and your family. If poker is one way of doing so and you can make money, do it!!You are NOT responsible for your friends and their actions. If you feel bad for your friend, then here is a happy compromise, don't play against him.Just use your skills to play against the other fish who are strangers. Poker has been around forever, and won't go away. Someone is going to win the money, it may as well be you.I for one will continue to play!!!

I agree the Wynn is the new avatar leader. Have no clue who she is, but me likes!!I am straight, but also internet gay, so I can fantasize about Ron and Royal!Wow. a all gay thread and my name was only mentioned once.Thank god you people actually understand.I myself am straight, yet internet social gay. You almost have to be since the male / female ratio is brutal.P.S. THE WYNN.. I BOW BEFORE YOU GOOD SIR.I'm affraid my title as avatar champ may be in jeopardy. I will gladly pass on the title to you new age "animation-avatar" posters. -
Man what a lightweight, that's the highest you play?Try this 85,0000,000 / 170,000,000, NLI play this with Bill Gates, Michael Dell, and we used to have Dennis Kozlowski, but it looks like he won't be able to make the regular game for like another 8 1/3 to 20 years.45,000,000 / 90,000,000 -
Currently no. I am contemplating it soon though.Does any posters out there play higher than 3/6?if so how high...no lies! -
I did have good luck in ring games, and I guess if those freeze up no big deal.I certainly won't play anymore tournies there. There service blows. They don't fix it because they dont have to...the fish will keep playing there because its the big site, and the rest of us will keep playing there because the fish do...partypoker could change its name to diarrhea poker and people would still play there. -
Then why play there? With all the damn money they spend advertising on TV, you would think they would get their crap together! It happens all the time... -
Yeah well that's all well and good, and for one clown at my table with 540 in chips it's great, for me with a chip stack $1k shy of the leader it pretty much sucks.I won't play on this site again until they fix their problems. It's actually kind of nice sometimes...For example...one time when I was just censored around with $50 on party poker i was down to my last $6 and played a 5+1 multi...was up quite a bit after an hour and it frozei made $55...about 10th place moneyi could've made it that far...but not that likely...so i figure i did better than if the tournament would've kept going... -
I am at the point now where I hate this site. People complain about PS, the software is solid and reliable. You can check your rank during a tourney. If you go to enter a table, say like a SnG the lobby is accurate.PP has none of that and they tournies freeze up.I have been at a limit tourney since 7:20pm that has now been locked up for over an hour and I am/was in fourth place out of the remaining 158.No announcement from PP at all to let us know what is going on. That is something else that PS does in the very rare times they have a problem, they communicate it to their players. What is great is PP can run announcements in the chat box advertising their other tournies but nothing about the problems.Party Poker really has a lousy way of running a site. I wonder if Dutch Boyd is running it?tourneys are down. this happens all too often. -
Have any of you had this experience, I started a limit tourney this evening at 7:20pm and about an hour ago the tourney froze. No explanation from PP, and another guy at the table says it happened to him earlier and after a long while they cancelled the tourney and split the money 50% to everyone remaining and 50% by chip stack. This really blows. There were 580 and there are 158 left and I am in 4th place with 10,284 with the high stack at 11,190 and average being 3,671.If this is a regular occurrence on this site I don't think I will play on it again. It is also irritating that they have not made any improvements to their software in like 2 years.

Well I will improve at poker but you sir will still be a complete dick!Have a nice day.I dont have a book coming out.I'm not a professional poker player.I play 100 and 200 $$ tourneys online not 10,000 $$ buy in tournies.I never said I had a book coming out.But if I did, I wouldn't tell people to call 3x BB raises with 2 3.Sorry. -
Correct and in fact they want to pay you in cash so you lose it all in their casino. I have won 2 Blackjack tournaments each for 25k and they actually pay you in $100 chips. The security guard will escort you to the cage and then you can decide what you want to do.The first time I won, I had told my wife that if I won I would bring her $5k, now I didn't really expect to win but I did so I asked for a check for $20k then I took the balance in cash.I intentionally had not told my wife that I won, I told her to close her eyes and put out her hand, then I put 50 $100 bills in her hand! What a great feeling that was!Let me answer...they do whatever you want them to do. Cash, check, wire etc. Most people seem to get a check and sometimes take a small % as cash.btw, Hachem's money is still at the Rio. Also, in the old days they would escort so-and-so winner for his $150K prize with a security guard etc. But, nowadays, they just seem to point $200K, $500K winners to the cage.Really weird... especially when they ask for a tip later... I mean where's the pomp and circumstance - the service? But, the point is that things have changed and money seems to mean less in these tourneys. -
I think we should all be taking advice, Poker or otherwise from someone who feels compelled to make fun of the mentally retarded. What is so messed up in your own life that, not only do you seem intent on continuing to come after me, which btw is fine, as I am amused by how petty you are, but your life is so shallow that you need to pick on mentally retarded people?Sir I truly do feel sorry for you, you should spend your time elsewhere and get the help you truly need.I have no clue what kind of a poker player you are, and I won't make the same foolish assumption that you are making, that you are a fish. I truly want to sit at the poker table with people like you who overestimate themselves and underestimate me.Ha, i just reread a bit and realized you weren't even in the SB completing with 23, you limped in from somewhere and then called his raise. -
Are you curious as to whether or not I am under 18 or Hold Em is?
I really wonder what % of online players are under 18 years old like this gentleman? If this forum is any sort of indicator, it's shockingly high.
Let me tell you, with my track record with that, anyone that doesn't want me to play it better make it very, very expensive pre-flop.Otherwise I am moving forward with it.See now 2 hands after this one I had 3, 4 suited and another guy was much smarter and bet around 240 pre-flop, that was enough to get me to let the hand go.stop playing 2 3 suited to a raise. -
You missed the section on reverse implied tilt odds then didn't you?lolSW :roll:its already out.its called harrington on holdem volumes 1 and 2and i didn't think he says you should be calling raises with 2 3. not sure though. -
Sorry I guess I need to type slower for you and make myself clearer, so here goes:When is YOUR book coming out?Unless you are telling me and the wonderful FCP audience that you are in fact Dan Harrington, then I ask again, and for the last time:When is YOUR book coming out?I am truly looking forward to reading your wise and sage advice as I need a mentor.its already out.its called harrington on holdem volumes 1 and 2and i didn't think he says you should be calling raises with 2 3. not sure though.
advice goofy or serious?
