he's going to have a better hand basically 0% of the time...we're looking to get paid by a hand like J-J or 10-10 here i think, and also we avoid the no-man's land situation we end up in on the riverIs raising the turn going to do anything more than make worse hands fold and build a bigger pot for better hands? -
3-betting against an UTG raiser at a full table is completely maniacal, even if you're against a maniac i'd still rather just call than 3-bet it and risk running into a hand behind meno to the first question. aside from being in the blinds, i would never call a raise with KJo.if the raiser is loose and raising lots preflop, KJ is an easy 3-bet. -
pukes?there's not much you can do other than trust your read...if you feel he might make this bet with a smaller flush, then you can call, but if you don't you have to lay it down

fold pfraise the river for value
-
unless you feel this guy is playing to make the money and will fold almost anything, i fold this
-
raise the flop for sure, it will tell you whether or not your hand is good, and you may get some value if it is goodeven if you just call the flop, you should probably then raise the turnas played, call on the river is fine, but overall you played the hand weak
-
i would raise all of those hands every single time with no one in the pot before me...you can't be afraid of playing flops with marginal hands or having someone play back at you, otherwise you will end up playing way too passively
-
i can't see calling here, what do you beat? would he really do that with less than two pair here? all we beat is something like J-10 of spades, and if so, why just call the flop then lead/re-raise the turn? that would seem an odd way to play that hand...so i think folding is probably the best play
-
of course if you're in the BB and get raised it's worth a shot though (drawing the J and 6 most likely)That's a hard one to play, if it's not raised yes, if raised think of folding. -
raise or fold pfas played, you have to raise the turn...there's no reason to just call down, if he's got the nut flush or J-J then you're going to losesince you just called the turn, river call is fine
-
the idea to c/r the flop should have been nixed once a different player bet the flop AND two callers come.Just call the flop.fold turn, yeah.

i like it

bet the turn, with the set and gutshot you are likely to be in good shapeobv bet the river
-
You did the only thing you can do in that spot. You were unfortunate he had two overcards but with only 67k in chips left you have to push there IMO. You really have no choice but to push there, if you don't push in that spot I am not sure in what spot you would push.

i think you have to call the riveri actually like the flat-call on the flop, since you do have cards to protect against a bigger flush drawagain, the river situation is pretty gross, but if he slowplayed a full house on the turn then good for him
-
is angry he can't play the pot, but folds

the operative word in my statement was "considered"don't write in caps, it's annoyingI DISAGREE. WHY RAISE THE FLOP. YOU HAVE A LOT OF OUTS TAKE THE CARD FOR THE 25. ANY SIGNIFICANT RAISE HERE COMMITTS YOU TO THE HAND. COULD YOU REALLY MAKE IT 75 AND THEN FOLD TO A RERAISE. A CALL LETS YOU SEE THE TURN. MORE INFORMATION AND I CAN STILL GET AWAY FROM THE HAND. -
based on the price, you are getting the right odds, but your problem here is that MP2 is going to re-raise a very high percentage of the time...i think you have to fold unless MP2 is someone who might smooth-call here with a straight, for whatever reason
-
argh...i see A-6-x-x here often, but with such a blank river i think you have to pay off
-
i think you played it very well, although i think a raise on the flop should be considered
-
i wouldn't re-raise pf, you have an UTG raiser to contend with and a drawing hand, you want people to be in this pot, not scare them away and isolate yourself against someone pegged with a strong made hand or stronger drawing handas played, fine
-
horrendous call pf, you have essentially a trash handas played, it's fine
-
i think based on our read of the raiser it's certainly realistic, and if we could guarantee that a third player wouldn't enter the pot then i think it might be slightly + or -EV, one way or the other...but since we have a loose cannon as a potential third party here, it makes it more worth it to take a flop imoI got an interesting response from a long time professional live player. His response was ths:"Simply fold the tens because of the raise from the short stack. There are plenty of opportunities to pick up free chips in [these non-major] live tournaments, so why gamble 40% of your stack with a hand like Pocket 10s?"Personally, I think this is an interesting take...not one that I personally agree with yet, but it's certainly an interesting perspective. Is it too passive/weak to simply fold Pocket 10s in this situation or is it a realistic/+ev play? -
well, i'm probably not folding tens here, even though we are dealing with a tight player, because of the set value we obtain by possibly having a third man in the poti think that based on the supposed range of the raiser and also his chipstack that he probably won't be folding if we re-raise, and we don't have the best hand too often...i think i would just call and hope to play a 3+ way action pot, esp if the limper is one of them, and just set mine from there...the key to making this play is being able to get off the hand on a flop of three babies

the 3-bet the flop/check the turn line is strange, but you're after putting 3 bets in on the flop with your hand i think you should probably bet when you hit top pairi don't think i would have raised the flop here in the first place, but the raise isn't a bad play by any means
