  1. the 3-bet the flop/check the turn line is strange, but you're after putting 3 bets in on the flop with your hand i think you should probably bet when you hit top pairi don't think i would have raised the flop here in the first place, but the raise isn't a bad play by any means

  2. Is raising the turn going to do anything more than make worse hands fold and build a bigger pot for better hands?
he's going to have a better hand basically 0% of the time...we're looking to get paid by a hand like J-J or 10-10 here i think, and also we avoid the no-man's land situation we end up in on the river
  3. no to the first question. aside from being in the blinds, i would never call a raise with KJo.if the raiser is loose and raising lots preflop, KJ is an easy 3-bet.
3-betting against an UTG raiser at a full table is completely maniacal, even if you're against a maniac i'd still rather just call than 3-bet it and risk running into a hand behind me
  4. i can't see calling here, what do you beat? would he really do that with less than two pair here? all we beat is something like J-10 of spades, and if so, why just call the flop then lead/re-raise the turn? that would seem an odd way to play that hand...so i think folding is probably the best play

  5. You did the only thing you can do in that spot. You were unfortunate he had two overcards but with only 67k in chips left you have to push there IMO. You really have no choice but to push there, if you don't push in that spot I am not sure in what spot you would push.
  6. I DISAGREE. WHY RAISE THE FLOP. YOU HAVE A LOT OF OUTS TAKE THE CARD FOR THE 25. ANY SIGNIFICANT RAISE HERE COMMITTS YOU TO THE HAND. COULD YOU REALLY MAKE IT 75 AND THEN FOLD TO A RERAISE. A CALL LETS YOU SEE THE TURN. MORE INFORMATION AND I CAN STILL GET AWAY FROM THE HAND.
the operative word in my statement was "considered"don't write in caps, it's annoying
  7. I got an interesting response from a long time professional live player. His response was ths:"Simply fold the tens because of the raise from the short stack. There are plenty of opportunities to pick up free chips in [these non-major] live tournaments, so why gamble 40% of your stack with a hand like Pocket 10s?"Personally, I think this is an interesting take...not one that I personally agree with yet, but it's certainly an interesting perspective. Is it too passive/weak to simply fold Pocket 10s in this situation or is it a realistic/+ev play?
i think based on our read of the raiser it's certainly realistic, and if we could guarantee that a third player wouldn't enter the pot then i think it might be slightly + or -EV, one way or the other...but since we have a loose cannon as a potential third party here, it makes it more worth it to take a flop imo
  8. well, i'm probably not folding tens here, even though we are dealing with a tight player, because of the set value we obtain by possibly having a third man in the poti think that based on the supposed range of the raiser and also his chipstack that he probably won't be folding if we re-raise, and we don't have the best hand too often...i think i would just call and hope to play a 3+ way action pot, esp if the limper is one of them, and just set mine from there...the key to making this play is being able to get off the hand on a flop of three babies
