6 players PartyPoker: 100NL HoldemHero has tight aggressive image but generally opens with wide range in late position. No reads on villian he has showed one hand down and it was good.Hero: $125Villian: $156SB: $89Hero is on the button holds 9 9 , villian is in the BB.Folds to hero, hero raises to $4, SB calls $3.5, villian raises to $13, hero?whats our line here? do we call for set value/re-raise or fold?
-
yeah here is an example of when not to bet a flop, the only time I would consider firing on the flop if its heads up and I have solid read on villian. As played I think a shove it's proably best!

I think you hit the nail on the head here buddy. I'm no hit & run artist but I do become annoyed when I get up to say $200 and leave the table with $125 profit and feel unsatisfied with the win!@bdc30, I have read the Greenstein book and I try to stick with barry's suggestions however it's easier said than done imo!!It's pretty common I think but it points out a number of related leaks:1) Tilt is almost certainly a factor in the big losses. Not always but I'd say 80-90% of the time the big loss sessions will involve at least a few hands where you didn't play your A game because of emotions. Some lag chases you down with bottom pair and cracks your AA on the river and a few hands later you're pushing JJ into him on a K high flop. It's easy to write these off as a read but they're more often tilt.2) Becoming passive or over conservative when you get a big stack is also common. If you're working to protect your chips rather than taking every edge that presents itself you're probably better off leaving.I find an odd related phenomenon that also limits the size of my winning sessions. Say I'm playing 100 NL hit a bunch of hands over a period and work it up to 250. Then I pickup AK, 3-bet, whiff the flop but c-bet and the guy raises so I have to lay it down. Now I'm down to 220. Well all of a sudden emotionally I'm stuck. I want to get back to that milestone number of 250 again. I try to force a couple hands and then I'm down to 190. "I'll just play until I'm back over 200" and more forcing, a bit of tilt and I nearly wipe out my win before I get up. It's all stuff to be aware of at the table. Honestly assess your emotional state and take a break if you're not at your best. Sometimes I can be so stubborn that I'll sit there saying "god I'm tilting bad" but still won't get up or sit out a round. -
I have been evaluating my game a lot recently with poker tracker and I have a 65% win rate playing 100NL running at approximately between 9-11BB/100 over 20,000 hands, however my big losing sessions are much bigger than my biggest winning days. I try to play a tight solid game and not to tilt however there have been sessions where I run dry (who doesn't?).Is this a common situation to be in????I very rarely run good enough (or stick around long enough) to be sat on a stack over $300 but often see average loose type players on $400 stacks when running good. How many of us have bigger losing sessions than winning?

yeah I agree, get your money in here, you have 2 overs & flush draw and gut shot str8.
-
yeah get your money in on the flop, raise to $2.50 and call a push.
-
Hand 1: I probably lay it down if he has me covered although its marginal, I dont hate the suggested shove.Hand 2: I'm never folding here at NL50, get it in.Hand 3: I don't like the raise in MP1 to be honest, as played it's standard but I think your beat here...Hand 4: Very read dependant hand, your only really beating AQ suited, could be 99/10 10 or JJ but it's still a flip.. I lay down unless I have good read that he's donking about!

I am the only one who thinks check calling is a bit weak/tight here? I'm definately leading out again here, we have overpair, an openender and no huge sign of strength from villian.
-
yeah this is a shove imo, I even see this play in 6 max games, you are normally well ahead in this situation with QQ.
-
thirdSecond every single thing here. -
re-raise it preflop, as played postflop is standard! he got there with AJ right?
-
I would bet the turn if he's that loose, if you get a big raise then ditch it but I think we are good here, you have to raise that river bet also for value, I would shoot it to at least $60-75
-
I re-poped it to $70 and villian pushed, I called and the board wentturn river Villian showed for a split, thanks for reply's.

Partypoker 6 Players - 100NL Holdemhero is SB, has a loose image as I have been getting a few cards and raising a ton in late pos. Villian seems kinda loose but no stats to verify, just my read!Hero ($133.68) BB holds: A 10 Villian MP2 ($134.11) Villian raises to $4, CO calls $4, SB folds, hero calls $3.Flop: A 7 10 hero bets $11, Villian raises to $30, CO folds, hero?Good spot for a push?

Just watched an online video where the guy had a nice black skin to the table & background, anyone kow where I can download some decent skins?
-
we are beating a wide range of hands here and are only really worried about JJ QQ 55, I can't see him calling the re-raise with QJ unless he's feeling very prickly indeed. For me I would re-raise to $26 and call a shove.
-
I agree 100% however there were a few contributing factors to my all-in call, firstly I was starting to get steamed from dry card session, the previous hand against the same villian, Playing above my normal 100NL level & not wanting to be pushed around.None of the above are excuses but me just being honest with myself!! I have lots to learn.OOOOO KKKKK .... one thing I always do when shoving is stop and think for a minute about what I could be facing and if I'm drawing totally dead or not. I don't like to shovel when I could be drawing dead on the turn. I don't like shoving on the turn. What is it the pocket5s people say ... a turn raise/shovel usually means one pair is no good? Situations and opinions will differ, but I've usually found it to be true. -
Thanks for the reply's guys! I appreciate your comments. here is what happened,I fired $75 on the turn which after evaluating the hand afterwards looks kinda scared and villian pushed all-in, I only had about $70 left and was getting 4.5/1 so made the call. Villian turned 10 9 which sucks but, I'm happy with my play & just wanted confirmation that in your opinion I played it good too.

Party poker - 6 players 200NL HoldemHero $ 204.45Villian $ 252.65Villian is starting to get real aggro after initially playing tight. Could be catching cards, could be switching gears, I have been pretty card dead & therefore have nitty image. One thing to note is that the previous hand I lost a $100 pot to villian when my AA ran into a J J 6 - 2 -10 board and villian raised my turn bet & led out all-in on river, I folded as he was repping a J.Hero SB A K Folds to villian (button), villian raises to $6, Hero raises to $21, SB folds, BB folds, Villian calls $15.Flop: A J 8 Hero bets $35, villian calls £35.Turn: 7 Hero ?

Poker tracker & hud work fine with vista. With regard to your downswing, I would recommend the following - play less tables for the next 2/3000 hands, move down if you don't have confidence to play an aggressive game, re-evaluate ur hands and see if you can plug some leaks. It sounds like your just running bad imo, take a couple of days off and give it another go!
