  1. Thanks to everyone who replied.I'm getting this sinking feeling that I won't get to play poker while on this vacation ...Best regards.
  2. Hi there, I'm taking the wife and kid to somewhere in the Carribean in July or August, and I was hoping to find a series of NLHE tournaments somewhere. You know, kind of like WSOP week(s).I've searched the web for hours, and all I could find was something called WPS(?), but the 800 number listed didn't even work, and they don't have dates yet for the next location in their series.I'm hoping for all-inclusive, pool(s), and ocean snorkelling, with the poker mostly in the evenings. Thanks in advance, and best regards.
  3. Therefore, rakeback is something that a player could get when they sign up to a new site?In other words, as I'm already at FullContact and FullTilt, I can't get a rakeback on either? Thanks again, and best regards.
  4. wow, I've learned more in the last 3 days than the last 3 months, thanks! Now, at the risk of sounding stoopid, what's rakeback? (yes, I'm blushing)
  5. OK, thanks, I think understand everything you're saying above. So, I went to the FullTilt site to find out exactly what the rake is ... but I couldn't find anything.Isn't the rake standard across sites, or different between sites, or even at different stakes?!Thanks again, and best regards.
  6. Hi Sefaje, excuse my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with the terms that you're using ...1) In your first paragraph, are you saying that FTP charges twice as much in rake as other sites? Is this just an issue at the NLHE lowest blinds of .05/.10, or at all of their "low stakes" levels?2) In your second paragraph, does "NL10" refer to the same ".05/.10", and what did you mean by BB/100, NL50, and double-rake? Sorry for not understanding, but I'm new to all these terms. Thanks again, and best regards.
  7. I'm determining an approach for clearing the rest of my bonus at FullTilt, and given my skill level / experience (mediocre/newbie), I'm trying a "smash" method at lower-stake ring games. My question is, as FullTilt posts the following info per table, in which order should I be searching this data? What would be the most important factor, and for each one, am I looking for the most?- number of players (I'm assuming more players?)- average pot size (I'm assuming bigger pots?)- flop seen percentage (I'm assuming higher percentage?)- hands per hour (I'm assuming more hands?)Thanks and regar
  8. Zach, thanks lots. Much appreciated. All the best.
  9. Hi there, I've been playing poker less than a year, and online a few months. In addition, to be honest, I'm a mediocre player, playing multi-table tournaments at $5 or less, I sometimes cash. When I joined FullTilt, I deposited the full $600, enticed by "doubling" my money by eventually clearing all of the bonus. The problem is that I don't feel experienced enough to try ring games, but by only playing low-stakes multi-table tournaments, well, I'll never get to clear the full $600.I was describing the situation to an acquaintance, and as he was leaving, he said something like:"just play a lot o
  10. Hi there, I've been online for only about half-a-year, and I generally only play multi-table tournaments, and at relatively low buy-ins. Therefore, I see very many different opponents. Now, in 2 books I've read it is recommended that I "keep book" on opponents. In one case, it was a relatively simple classification of players as one of 5 or 6 "types" of player, and in the other book, it was suggested to accumulate a lot of detailed information per opponent played. My question for this forum is, do you think that such data collection would be worth it for me?Thanks in advance, and best regards.
  11. Hi there, while browsing at the local bookstore, I've seen some books that categorize players using various methods. For example, tight-aggressive, tight-weak, etc. or even animal "codes", like the lion, the eagle, the rat, etc.Any recommendations out there on such books, or books with good sections on this concept? Or, do you think it's a bad idea to over-classify opponents, that it's better to put in the effort to uniquely classify each opponent? If the latter, to be honest, that seems overwhelming, as I really only play in big multi-table tournaments, which is why I figured categories would
  12. Hi there, can anyone see any problems with depositing to FCP/DGN using eWalletXpress, and withdrawing using Neteller? I'm not aware of any "cost" to either move. but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask here. Thanks, everyone.P.S. I heard 7-14 days for our old FCP cleared bonus to be added to our new DGN cashier account. Has anyone heard (or better yet, know!) differently?
  13. Man, this is moving fast, this is great! If I understand correctly from Patrick, you used to be on Stars but left for FullTilt ... any particular reason (aside from what you listed, as everyone here at work is saying Stars, but I'm one of the better players at work!)And excuse my ignorance, Patrick, but I'm not sure I understand everything you're saying ... would you mind if I emailed you? I'll probably choose a site by tonight, and it would take me a few days for my first deposit, as I was using eWalletXpress on FCP, but I didn't see that available at FullTilt. Would that timeline still get me
  14. Wow, thanks for the quick responses! When you say FullTilt is rockish, do you mean conservative? If I'm only playing tournaments and aiming for bigger tournaments, wouldn't that be good for me? On the other hand, I'm "tight", and guess would stay that way! :)By the way, I'm Canadian ... does that make any site(s) more appealing? Thanks for the PokerStars recommendation ... my wife is on the play-money version all the time ... I'll email them now and see if we can both be coming in over the same router, one to NET and one to COM (or cut her off! )Thanks again, and best regards (feel free to ke
