  1. And saying, "Catholics molest boys" is not nearly as bad as saying, "censored are thieves." I hope you see why.Ice
I'm sorry I don't see why..... what's the differance? they are both discrimanatory remarks made on drastic generalizations.... there really is no differance in either... it's like saying"Jews are cheap""French People Smell bad""mexicans are dirty"they are all generalizations that aren't really true for every person of that culture.pretty much the same thing... and no I am not Catholic or Black.
  2. Did I just say that I wasn't a guy?You have the right to say whatever you want, but so do I.And keep this in mind. When you blast people on this forum, not knowing anything about them, you may be burning some bridges. You have no idea who I am or how deeply I'm connected in the poker world. Do you think I put WPT in my name just because I'm a fan? You need to think a little before you go off.Check your anger at the door, young 'un.Have a nice day.
uh-oh ghost face! you just ticked of Shana Hiatt.....there go your chances.... that sucks, but on the other hand, anyone who still chooses to defend Antonio after reading the "clubbing tutorial", the "rocks and rings society" AND that line... well, it's actually probably his mom...
  3. agreed, I like the idea of trying to get new members but 90% wont ever post again
Does it suck knowing no matter how much you whine about newbies being allowed entries, it won't change? And knowing that no matter how much you keep posting all over the place telling people 'ONLY 500 ENTRIES! ITS FULL! STOP POSTING!', people will still keep posting entries into the forum?Don't you hate knowing you talk so much and nobody is listening?
does it suck coming into a forum and instead of being welcomed you have to know that everyone is always gonna hate you because in your first 5 posts all you did was attack a member of the forum?
  4. i'm also a fish, and this is probably really wrong, but in NL, if I've been the pre-flop raiser with big slick and I get three undercards, I bet the flop as to represent an overpair. Often everybody folds.
there is a difference between three undercards and a board with a J and a Q on it... betting there would be bleeding money... especially with 5 callers preflop... I see someone with QJ here often smoke you.
In this situation I can understand that. I too have a hard time throwing away big slick.Let me ask then, what about if there was just one face card, not two?
if there is only one face card I might put a bet out there, but the problem with this is that if he just calls you, you really still have no information about his hand... this is why position in hold'em is so important... if he only calls you here, you have no idea if he is on a draw, if he has a hand, or if he is just one of those guys that will call you with 67, suited for no straight or flush draw.... but let's look at every situation... and what will probably happen...1. if he is on a draw, and the turn card does not help out the draw... you will probably want to bet again, to try and get him off his draw... but you have to have a VERY good read... cuz if he is on a hand, he will continue to bleed money out of you.... So, if you check the turn cuz you're out of position this gives him a great opportunity to steal it on a draw, or to just push you off of your hand...2. if he already has a hand, but still just calls, you still have no read about his strength... he might be on AQ, or on Q7.... so if an ace falls on the turn you think "awesome, now I've got this" but really he's just gonna break you with his two pair.I think the best way to play this when only one face card somes, and there is no straight or flush possibility would be to bet the flop, and if you're called check-fold the turn if you don't improve...but on a coordinated flop, just let it go.you see in No-Limit I don't think so much about the hands that will make me the most money, I think about the hands that will get me in the most trouble.
  5. i'm also a fish, and this is probably really wrong, but in NL, if I've been the pre-flop raiser with big slick and I get three undercards, I bet the flop as to represent an overpair. Often everybody folds.

  6. you should have folded this on the turn....the 2nd jack makes it even more likely that you are beat. if someone is holding a jack the only card that would win you this pot is a 10... and that's only if the player wasn't holding J10 which is a very common holding in hold'em....if you had bet the only way you're going to get called is if you're beat... and on that turn you're VERY likely to be beat, someone will be holding either a straight draw, a flush draw, or at least a pair and they're not going to fold on that turn... AK is a nice looking hand, but when the board looks like that... its time to let it go.

  7. I think you are a real jerk. It's people like you who are going to ruin poker. Where do you think the dead money comes from? If you want poker to grow and the pool of money to expand then you better embrace the newbies here and anywhere you can. I'm sure you wouldn't mind taking their (our) money!!!!!
there's a quote button.... learn how to use it....so that others can follow your train of thought... I'm just gonna guess you were talking about XXeddie, and not the other guy who posted right before you who offered to give up his spot.
  8. I didn't realize that the cap had been hit. I will gladly relinquish my entry to any forum regular here that has been left out if it comes to that, since I have learned a ton from all of your posts and it has improved my game. Let me know.
I like you...I hope you stick around, see you seem like the guy we want to stick around and stay in the forum.... I'm not mad that new people are moving in, I'm just a little upset that a lot of the guys who have been around for a long time don't get a chance to enter because the field is already full...anyways, yes I agree the forum could use some new members, but I want new MEMBERS not new registered people just so they can play and then will never post again.
  9. Sklansky would never put on something like this unless he was being laid the proper odds.... I could see it now"It's not worth it to me to put this on because I would not have a proper advantage.... how about this 2+2er's? I'll submit 20 teams, and all of you submit one.... and if one of my teams wins all of you have to send me $2, but if another team wins then I'll send him $20.... otherwise it's not a profitable endeavor, and I won't accept your challenge. otherwise, I will play 7card stud hi/lo no qualifier versus any of you if I am being laid 1.4 to 1 odds."

  10. see the problem is now the cap has been reached, and members of the forum who have been around for a while can't enter now. iveyfan30, and rwood... these guys are both at least known around here and they can't enter cuz I'm sure some newb posted like 3 teams.

  11. I am a newb, but I have been reading this forum for 6 months or so. My only point is this--what are the odds of someone that comes on here, posts once and is never to be heard from again actually winning this thing? think everyone is getting prematurely worked up. I can almost gurantee someone that has been here a while and knows what they are doing will win.
ummm.... it really wouldn't be that hard.... I mean it's a fantasy pool....I won the NCAA pool at my place of employment this year... and I couldn't give less of a crap about basketball... I hate basketball.... doesn't mean it's hard to win the fantasy pool.... and the fact that there like 40 entries by newbs and 10 entries by oldschoolers is a little hint too.
  12. look I'm not trying to act like I 'own' the forum' date=' but I'm a member of it... and I've been a member for a while. It's like being on a championship high school football team, and all of a sudden the next year the freshman come in and act like they're gonna make varsity.[/quote']But really, it is nothing like a high school football team. Its like if you bought Tide everyday for ten years then it went on sale some one bought it one time and didn't plan on buying it again... and got censored off at them about it.I just think that it is DN's site, his forum, and his contest and if he didn't stipulate rules, possibly because he wanted to attract "newbs", then all should be welcome.
that really is hilarious.... the tide thing... oh that was great.anyways umm no I don't go to wash U whoever asked that.
  13. well, I wouldn't really know about all that... I've never been in the a/v club...I think you're right to say that we can't assume that all of the new member will be worthless... but I haven't seen one prove me wrong yet.as soon as I see a worthy post by any of these guys I'll lay off... links are welcome... but all the posts I've seen so far by people who joined in the last week or so have been a complete waste of time/ completely ill-mannered/ incredibly arrogant as if they feel they can move in and just control the forum now...I mean listen, I'm not saying they can't control the forum just cuz they're new, I mean we can't control the forum... it's not our forum, it is DN's forum... so I'm not saying I'm upset cuz we're losing something that was 'ours'... I'm upset cuz they think that they can just sign up one day and it will be 'theirs'...I really don't mind too much, because I know that in a couple months all of them will have either been banned or they will just disappear.... that's the look of it anyways... but if we get even 2 or 3 more posters with some actual substance to them than it will have been worth it.I just think it would suck if it got capped at 500 people and 400 of them were guys who had never even had a post before, meanwhile posters who posted their team too late but have been a member for a couple years can't get an entry because it's full... they might be right about a few of the riginals not being very welcome to newbs... but most of the time. it's when a newb comes in and says something completely wrong and then argues about it for far too long just cuz they're too stubborn..... like umm.... 'toogood', I can't remember this other guys name but he was like a horse trainer or something, I just remember us making fun of him cuz he claimed to make a buttload of money but he picked up horse sh1t for a living, and a few others.... those are the ones we try and turn away... but there are plenty of people who will come in and say 'long time reader, first post' and as long as they don't come in flaming away we respond...'welcome to the forum, blah blah'.... it's the ones who come in with insults that piss us off... like someone joing the forum for the sole sake of calling someone out... someone registered just to tell xxeddie he was a fag.... yeah that's the kind of members we want.... I'm sorry but if this a way to increase traffic, I think we're just gonna turn it into another rgp.

  14. If you play on party poker, be sure to sign up for instantbankroll or freefiftybucks before you make an account... but also, be SURE to never ever transfer any money to anybody, or have money transferred to you... cuz they will freeze your account and it will never be unfrozen hahahaha...I'd recomend pokerstars because they have good microlimits that your bankroll could handle.

  15. BTW, theres no CAP on the number of entries. sorryteneight
"Announcement: The 2005 WSOP is almost here and you know what that means! It's time for another WSOP Fantasy Pool. Only this year it's a total freeroll limited to the first 500 entries. For more details check out the poker forum. "
hmmm give the link to his please. I have looked everywhere and it's no where to be found. anyone can make a comment like that and pretend its daniels. SO LINK PLEASEteneight
hahhaha.... leave it to a newb who doesn't even know how to use the forum to come on here and tell us some false info that is easily found on the MAIN PAGE.......sorry couldn't help myself...here are my feelings on this issue anyways... I wouldn't mind at all if it was a way to get more traffic on the forum, and to get some new posters...but the problem is, most of them aren't contributing anything to the forum other than their entries..... and I don't think they plan on staying afterwards to contribute anything after that... the only posts I've seen from any of these people are complaining about what a bunch of assheads the 'originals' are... do you think they're gonna stick around? probably not. and even if they did, what kind of contributions would they be? Jfarrel incarnate? look I'm not trying to act like I 'own' the forum, but I'm a member of it... and I've been a member for a while. It's like being on a championship high school football team, and all of a sudden the next year the freshman come in and act like they're gonna make varsity.
  16. who cares who wins.....and why is it unfair is it your money thats handing out the prize?you guys sound like sorelosers before the final results are in.GETA LIFE MAN ITS JUST A POOL AND WHO CARES HOW MANY PEOPLE ENTER HOW MANY TIMES WOW YOU GUYS REALLY NEED A LIFE.ESPECIALLY THE LOSERS WHO HAVE OVER 2000 POSTS.
does this sound like a guy who's gonna hang around after the fact and contribute anything to the forum once it's over? does he even sound like a guy that you would WANT to hang around?
  17. ummm well he's more popular a figure than you. sucks to say it but I like him.he's funny, and sure sometimes he's a little rude to people who don't know their place...but I really agree with him as far as the WSOP pool goes... what's up with all these people having contributed nothing to forum whatsoever all of a sudden finally joining just so they can get in on a prize...and secondly, how do you know it's not people coming up with a second and third account name just so they can submit more teams?

  18. I hope him and his friends start a secret society... and they can all be called the grinders or something... and whenever they want to say something is cool they will call it 1.9 ...... and then they will get in a gang fight with the rocks and rings.... and the rocks and rings will be like."Don't mess with us you online poker playing n00bs, we're 1.4"and then they'll be like "what b1tches? 1.9 sucka!"

  19. but i think the bottom line it boils down to is...... What effing difference does it make whether he calls it a set or trips.... seriously, why does it bother you that they call it one and not the other? It just does.In response to all the posts about the history/evolution of poker...in my original post it was clear that I was talking about a specific type of player. This wasn't the godfather of poker I was referring to, it was a dueche with a WPT t-shirt, trendy sunglasses, and an attitude that made it obvious that he only started playing poker after Moneymaker won the bracelet. A guy like this who thinks VVP is the next Bob Costas should know the difference between these "new" poker terms. Honestly, I think it was just the guy himself that bothered me as much as the "set" comment that bothered me. I know that poker is much more profitable with all these fish around, but it was much cooler before everyone and his mother played hold em (literally). I used to make my money at college by first teaching hold em to drunk freshmen, and then taking all their money. That sh*t just doesn't happen anymore.
this post absolutely confirms my suspicions...you lost money to this guy, you got upset... and when he used a phrase that you don't normally use, you got even more upset just cuz you were losing to a 'n00b'... it really wasn't about the fact that he said set instead of trips. it was just that you hated him cuz he had your money... it makes no difference... that's why pros like dan harrington will say phrases like "flopping a set a trips" cuz they're the same damn thing.
  20. he didn't say non-existant... he said "Almost non-existant at high levels." learn how to read one full sentence at a time.... he is correct too... all the terminolgy came from draw and stud poker... where every player could have three of a kind, or a set, or trips or a royale with cheese, or whatever they felt like calling it... cuz they were the same hand... it means the same thing... so now when people get all upset over someone calling it a 'set' when it's only one card in their hand, it's retarded.... cuz it's the same thing... it was the same thing LOOOOONG before Hold 'Em became so popular, and it will continue to be the same thing years from now... I don't care what old cranky guy tells you different... he's just pissed because you flopped trips and he lost money....and they tell us we shouldn't be upset cuz it's "evolution"... well listen, I'm not upset... you can call it a set whenver you want... and you can call it trips whenever you want... or you could even call it three of a kind.. and I won't care what you call it.... But if you're really interested in the evolution of poker... why don't you go check out JFarrels ideas of two pair beating "trips" when it's only one card in the hand, but losing to a "set" when it's a pair in the hand.... yeah... now there's the evolution of poker.but i think the bottom line it boils down to is...... What effing difference does it make whether he calls it a set or trips.... seriously, why does it bother you that they call it one and not the other?
