  1. im tired. yeah they can have more than 4. but it's not likely they also have 2 diamonds, so 5 at most usually.but betting out is still better. no free cards, get immediate value, and if we can 3-bet we trap the field for several more bets with a big hand.
heres another scenario: what if the pre-flop raiser is directly to your left and theres a good chance he'll bet any flop. Nobody has said anything about the position of the raiser pre-flop which affects the flop play.
  2. if you play too high you lose the $50kind of defeats the purposeit's fun to playit's not always about making the most the quickesthe may want to preserve his role and build the slow-safe way.
you bring up a good point. I think u are referring to goals here. This is up to each individual. (and my get-rich-quick-schemes have yet to work for me)
  3. this is interesting, at what point does the pot become big enough that our main concern is winning it right now? is there some kind of math behind this? its like one of the main ideas behind sshe (protecting your hand when the pot gets big), but it never gives a guideline for how big it has to be to make checkraising better than leading out here.
In my experience, the bigger the pot gets the tougher it is to eliminate or thin the field. So even though u may attempt to thin the field by check raising, the pot size may make the field call with any pair or over cards. So, although check raising is meant to thin the field, this is not always the result. And if they cold call 2 bets, the pot is built even more for the nut flush draw and aces up hand.
  4. who are you?I'm incapable of thinking like 20-40 LimitI don't want you to leave and your tenacity is admirablepeace.
I'm nobody..... You're wrong about the capable part. The critical thinking I see here is better than most 10-20 limit players. So, perhaps without knowing it fully, ur guys' thinking is well advanced and way above most micro limit players. This being the case, it is difficult to read and predict micro limit players that don't possess your critical skills.
  5. thats what i was thinking, but if he's putting the bet in anyway, i dont think it really matters.
I'll tell u why it matters. Put the raise in as soon as you can and put him all in because you never know when u might get disconnected. This may sound silly, but over the past 6 years I have lost mucho money because of disconnects and power outages. Actually, only the past 4 years or so since disconnects have been totally disallowed by online sites. As far as the hand goes, u guys are thinking like the game is 10-20 or 20-40 limit holdem. It is hard to translate this game to the micro style of internet play. So based on this, and because he was deep in the hand, calling him to the end is probably a must. If gonna dump the hand, it has to be as early as possible to save all those bets.
  6. This leaves us asking... is it better to offer no expertise or to make something up like you did... you missed the mark by a mile with that fold equity definition, there's no need to try and save face by insulting Zach... just walk away...
I'd prefer to make something up. This causes buzz and people like Zachary will zoom in and correct it. Thus the guy's topic gets answered quicker........
  7. NL hands should go in the NL forum. However, since I just started playing NL, I will give my opinions :DFolding preflop isn't awful. Calling isn't bad either though. Depends on the raiser.Anyways, flop is good.Turn, I'd make it about $5. Looks like he's trying a blocker bet with a FD.I might value bet the river. $6 as played, $10 if I made it $5 on the turn.
I like this analysis. If you raise on the turn, push all in. Maximize this hand. If I'm not mistaken, you only had a few bucks left after your raise on the turn.
  8. you dont want to checkraise because you face the rest of the field with 2 cold and we have a hand where we want to trap the field for as many bets as we can, not knock them out of the hand and get ourselves HU.youre right, giving a free card here sucks, but thats not the main reason we dont want to checkraise
If u merely had a nut flush draw, I would agree. But since you have top pair/top kicker, eliminating some of the field wouldn't necessarily be a negative. Especially since the top pair is a pair of 8s.
  9. Full Tilt PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $1/$27 playersConverterPre-flop: (7 players) Hero is SB with :D:club: UTG calls, UTG+1 (poster) checks, MP1 (poster) checks, CO raises, Button folds, Hero calls, BB folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 folds.Flop: :) :) :D (10SB, 4 players)Hero bets, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, CO calls.Turn: :D (6.5BB, 3 players)Hero bets, UTG+1 folds, CO calls.River: :) (8.5BB, 2 players)Hero bets, CO calls. Results:Final pot: 10.5BBJust sat down and saw CO raising from EP with K10s PF.Anyone check raising the flop,Check/call turn and check-fold river?I couldn't decide which line is better.
the play was fine, leading out on flop is good because u don't want to risk trying to check raise and let an overcard peel off to beat ya.I would definitely check/call the river though. A check could induce a bluff from your opponent and you can't stand a raise on the river with your hand. With this in mind, a value bet on the river isn't worth it.
  10. It is NOT a limited bankroll.A bankroll is a RELATIVE term.$50 is a HUGE bankroll for $0.01/$0.02 limit.A few people here are just looking down their nose at a mere $50 it would seem, and I'm just trying to clarify for the OP that just because some people don't value $50 as their bankroll, doesn't mean that everyone doesn't.- Zach
the point is he needs to play the limit that allows him to move up. Killing a .02 limit game for weeks won't allow him to move up in limits. Unless he wants to grind his years away, put the $50 limited bankroll towards a limit that has potential to grow quickly.
  11. Ugh, shortstack strategy blows.Make real money. Play full buyin NL for $5 then.I don't see what you are arguing about, it's not like he's due to make more money by playing $25 NL with $5 than if he were to play $5 NL with $5.It just boils down to your desire to have everyone play shortstack strategy.Frankly, playing deeper means that skill wins out more quickly, and luck has less of an effect.- Zach
short stack play can frustate many good players who have big stacks. A different strategy needs to be used in order for the short stack to be successful. But there are advantages of playing with a short stack, despite the majority theory that big stacks and max buy-ins are the only way to go.
Are you still ragging on those that play micro limits? If this is your general attitude towards poker, I'd suggest you stop coming around here.
    oooooooooooohhhhhhhh
  12. i think you might win more at your home game because there is no rake. rake kills you online at the lower limits. just a thought.
Most home game I ever played in took rake. You talkin about penny/nickel games on the kitchen table?
  13. PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)No real read. Ive played almost a round and havent seen the guy play a hand yet.Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Kheart.gif, Qdiamond.gif. 1 fold, Hero raises, 5 folds, BB 3-bets, Hero calls.Flop: (6.50 SB) Kdiamond.gif, 9spade.gif, 8heart.gif(2 players)BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls. When he checks it feel like a trap, but maybe hes just a passive player with QQ or JJ. Can I fold this? Is this an automatic bet when checked to?When players 3-bet out of the blinds then check on the flop how often is this a trap against an unknown?Turn: (5.25 BB) Jspade.gif(2 players)BB bets, Hero calls.Fold or call when I pick up the gutshot? Fold is standard if I dont improve, right?River: (7.25 BB) 8spade.gif(2 players)BB bets $0.5 (All-In), Hero calls.I was gonna fold this but then I saw that he was all-in and sometimes you see people do funky things when they are real short stacked and just want to leave.Final Pot: 7.75 BBIm a donkey. Help me with hands like this.
You seem to have the questions and answer them yourself. I thought donks were supposed to have no clue.
  14. Since you are probably a tricky player and watch all the tricky moves on TV, I suggest this: Check raise him on the flop about 3 or 4 times his bet. You don't want him catching his card on the turn to beat you. This becomes a better play when the blinds are a bit higher and there is more in the pot at the time. Waiting to steal it on the turn and river may allow him to catch his card.
And by the way, if you do check raise the flop say to 1,800 he probably folds unless he has hand. But what if he calls? You have two options now on the turn: Move in with a total bluff or check the hand down. Moving in is bold, but if you put him on a weak hand is a good play. Checking down is ok to because you still have 6,000 or chips left and this is prob not be the spot where u want to risk your tournament life. (And after the hand, you may find out what type of player ur opponent is but it will be too late).
  15. Ok , 25k guarantee FT . I have 8000 in chips. I am a TAG (extremely)Villain has 7500 in chips. (I have no read on this guy) Blinds 100-200 25 anteI am BB. I know I posted the result, but I would like to know if I was correct in checking the turn , in hopes of representing the 10 , and stealing it on the river. Unfortunatly the Jack fell for him, and I guess he read me all the way. What do you think of this hand?

  16. I will be travelling to Vegas the end of September and would like peoples recommendations about what nightclubs are good. Also when it comes to entry do you have to book ahead, what are the lines like is it best to reserve a table??? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.goose
Definitely reserve a table and do it up right. Otherwise, face long lines and no place to hang out once in. Barbary Coast has cool after hours club that is not too crowded compared to the other popular clubs.

Sounds like a SCAMMER. SCAMMER rhymes with?
  18. The last 3 $20+2 180 man sit and gos i have played on this site i have taken 3 sick beats after putting my money in with a huge favorite, i am starting to wonder if something is up. I have made over $6000 in this branch of sit and gos and find if awfully frustrating when this **** happens. The odds of me taking these tree bad beats consecutively are 300-1.Tourney 1me AA him ak offsuitall in preflop im a 10-1 favTourney 2me 88him ajall in after a flop of 993im a 3-1 favTourney 3me k-10hhim q-10 ofall in on rainbow board of k-10-9-6im a 10-1 fav hereall together consecutively thats 300-1 thats some bullshit, all these beats happened in the first hour with an average stack in all, just so dumb.thats my rant for the day
im not sure how u come up with 300-1. It seems to me each tourney is an individual event. In any case, if ur up 6,000 bucks playing these things, IM puzzled as to how u can complain.
