  1. if you finished a complete thought with "I doubt you could teach me anything" you should use a period. your ellipses (.....) serves the purpose of carrying on a thought. you said you're not english, so your horrible use of the language can be forgiven.saying the opponent is a moron is referring to his poker skills. he plays like a moron. we dont know anything about the guy personally, why would we call him a moron? i bet he's a nice guy to hang out with.im sure with your expert knowledge of the game nobody has ever called you a moron, so we can see how you could have made this mistake.
    I don't speak gibberish either.
  2. In my mind, that's one of the beauties of poker. Not everyone plays the same way. And a wild, stupid style can be effective at times, though not over the long haul, of course.
I agree with this. Different styles make the game interesting. I think DN may have been a bit surprised by the move. I would have also like to see Daniel humor the guy and let him reveal his thinking and maybe his cards. And, again, humor him because theres no place for coaching at the table.
  3. regardless, just pointing out something you could learn.
No offense, but why would I want to play correctly in micro limits? Big tournies and cash games is where the money is at. Micro means small doesnt it? In poker, I would rather think big.
  4. Yeah, I figure that's sage advice and if my BR supports it, I'll do it.How should I handle the drunks? Really tight until I make a hand, then push push push? ABC style?
Hit em hard pre-flop, isolate them, and take their beer money.
  5. you've shown a poor understandnig of basic principals:RIO and Fold Equity come to mind.and Bankroll management
I rely on instincts. I dont worry bout RIO and equity. I follow my instincts and the rest takes care of itself.
  6. My qoute:Oh, and I doubt you could teach me anything......well, maybe something about reverse implied odds that I would hardly ever use.
You quoting me:Oh, and I doubt you could teach me anything...... that I would hardly ever use.
you implied he was the best player at the table because he mixed his play up and Bud would not be able to read him.I responded mixing play up is bad at Micro, 95% of the time.Espcially when mixing involves limping with AA-TT.Not only can I teach you something about Small/Micro stakes Limit but so can Rise and Bud.
Again, my focus was on the name calling. I implied he shouldn't be called a moron, regardless of his play.
Not only can I teach you something about Small/Micro stakes Limit but so can Rise and Bud.
This may be the funniest thing I heard all week. Thanks for making my day.
Not only can I teach you something about Small/Micro stakes Limit but so can Rise and Bud.
You three sleep in the same bed??
  7. yeah, pretty bad to mix your play up at Micro stakes. You see, you just miss bets when you limp AA-TT preflopUnlike NL, you can't make them up enough post flop to compensate.Mix it up by raising JTs after 2 limpers. Not by limping AA in late pos at micros.you'll learn Loopie.
My point is the name calling that goes on. "Moron", "idiot", etc.... Not the play by this guy, but the fact "moron" was used.Oh, and I doubt you could teach me anything......well, maybe something about reverse implied odds that I would hardly ever use.
  8. "Button is a moron. He likes to limp in with aces, kings or queens and do stupid plays trying to be fancy. So his hand range here is pretty wide."This "moron" u speak of is probably the best player at ur table. The guy mixes up his game so u think he's a moron?? I believe your thinking to be flawed. And since I do, I suppose I'm an idiot or donkey for thinking so....right?

  9. Was playing a bit of 5/10 at Party last night, and there was some chat (an accusation really...) of a couple of players playing in coercion with each other. This got me thinking (because I'd never actually considered it before) - what are the advantages of two players sitting alongside each other (live) playing at the same online table?? The obvious answer is that the player with the weaker of the 2 hands would fold more readily, and that could reduce their overall rake, but apart from that - is there any obvious advantage??.Further, this team-playing is obviously already happening online, but does anyone have a feel for the extent of it??Would be interested to hear your thoughts??
Zach's answers are all good. Behind the scenes, online sites try to protect u against cheaters. Party doesn't allow certain people to play at the same table. For example, if I go over to my friend's house and use his computer to log in to party, from this point on my friend will not be able to join a table im at because of "accociation". Party has kicked off many players or accounts in their history due to collusion.I hear of people playing teams of like 5 or 6. They know what cards are outespecially in omaha. But, again, the major online sites are doing stuff to prevent collusion which most people are unaware of.
  10. I love fantasy football and have recently got involved in fantasy poker. I played during the WSOP and enjoyed it. This Fantasy Page has free fantasy poker throughout the 2006 year and offers free prizes. Last year, I participated in 9 fantasy football leagues and it got out of control. Hopefully this year I can reduce my fantasy frenzy.....I
perhaps Spam but maybe ok cause its FREE. The word free may be the most popular word in the human dictionary. (As opposed to the non-human one)
  11. well, when pot odds and implied odds warrant it. (as i said before)But also when u go for it make sure there is no flush draw out there(rainbow) and that your gutshot is drawing to the nuts. The thinking behind this is if u pay for it and hit u want to make sure it's good.So for example, 8-9 on a flop of Q-J-3. This gutshot would be bad because a 10 would give u the straight but also possibly somebody a higher straight. Whatever u do, be consistent.

  12. is that supposed to relate at all to what I said?
You say that it depends on how short stacked and it depends on how tight the table is and yada yada yada.Generally speaking, Kjs is a no brainer utg short stacked. (IMHO)
  13. I understand pot and implied odds, but pretty much any bet into a pot that is more than 1/4 of the pot size should price a gutshot out. Yet time and time again I lose pots to people who call my pot-sized bets with gutshots.
So u play no limit? Try and bet more than u normally do and pick up the smaller pot right there. Some people can't fold draws, so this is where "long run" comes in. Supposedly, u will win out and the draws won't hit and ur made hand will hold. But, generally, if u notice particular players drawing for any price, then over bet the pot when they are in.
  14. depends how short for KJs UTG.also on how tight table is.I will say 1st in vigor is overrated at small stakes. And sometimes it's better to "race" with KJs than it is to try to just steal blinds from Late position hoping it's folded to you and your JT is not called.
I thought this was "general strategy". Everything in poker "depends". And if everyone played alike, then nobody would play.
  15. This is one of the few draws in poker I have no idea how to play, aside from betting them. I am constantly losing money to people who it looks like are making donkey plays by calling me 5x the bb raise with a gut shot in the flop and somehow making them on the river. So when is it ok to just call with a gutshot? And how do you normally play gutshot draws?
check into pot odds for limit holdem and implied odds for no limit holdem."Normally play"? You just pound and pray they dont hit. Pound and pray
  16. I used to think that to. Lately, i will raise and they will insta push. I think for me it is the situation though. I have been playing in some cheap sit and gos lately and people play any ace and if they hit they are looking to get there money in.It still confuses me because I used to take this as a sign of weakness but I guess since everyone says weak means strong, I am going to ahve to reconsider.
The weak means strong scenario is usually related to visual tells of poker players. If a player acts weak, he's strong and so on. Weak and strong bets do not fall into this category. It is difficult to get into a person's head after they make a bet. Are they weak? Are they strong? Are they lazy, and just press minimum bet on their screen? Do they know this is no limit holdem? Are they making a move? Do they know what a move is? etc.......
  17. This isn't copied right out of the book. Just the formula. You don't have any control in that position. You "control your own destiny" by acting on the information you've recieved from the other players
Ahhhh, but utg u are up against the wall and have little choice. The general thinking here is if your hand is good enough to push all in late postion first in, then it is good enough to push short stacked utg. One must not be eliminated from a tournament as the other players check it down. Hell, I even like K9s utg short stacked.
  18. Recently finished reading theory of poker and have started it again for the second time (taking notes this time, making sure I fully understand all concepts). The thing that I don’t get is reverse implied odds. What exactly are they? Why are they important and how do you use them?I’m really struggling with the concept, any help (or links) would be appreciated.
with all the other variables to consider during a hand, forget about reverse implied odds. After all, reverse means backwards.Focus on the important stuff that matter. After all, you only have 30 seconds or less to compute information before deciding what to do with you hand. FOCUS on pot odds in limit holdem and implied odds in no limit holdem. Fully grasp these concepts to their fullest!!!
