  1. i am having trouble in my local game we play texas hold em no limit 9-13 players 1 or 2 tables depending on the turnout. There are more weak players in the game than there are strong. The weak players play as if they are retarted. One guy who broke me will go allin with j-3 and fold pkt 10s. i don't know if he even understands the game. But when you have 5 players who play this bad play it's impossible to take control of a game and dominate it. When you raise there will be 5 callers so your pocket queens get busted cuz the guy with k-2 hits his kings. Can someone tell me if i am playing bad an
  2. just wanted to add somehitng elsei think that i am and advanced player, but not advanced enough to be reading some of the tougher to understand books
  3. ive been playing poker for about 2 years now. Mostly, i play low-stakes tournament style NL hold'em. which text or dvd would benefit me the greatest?thanks in advance
  4. every tourney i seem to play in, i bust out in 2nd or 3rd place out of 8. never have i placed any lower. yea, i win here and there, but i always seem to have trouble going deeper and deeper into the game.in the games i play in, players are somewhat hesitant to bet before the flop, for the most part they want to make their decisions after catching a glimpse of the flop. i take advantage of this in the early levels of the game, but when it gets to short handed play, it always seems that theres checks around, i bet with a marginal hand and get 3 out of 4 callers. or with a halfway decent hand, fo
  5. yea i live in western MA, im in high school though
  6. wrong title sorry, wasnt check raise
  7. 25/50 NLIn BB, check around to SB, he raises to 100 (minimum). i decide to raise back at him to 250, (i am big stack at about 15xBB, SB at about 10xBB)he calls(hed been playing aggressive all night). flop comes Q7J rainbow. he checks i bet 300, thinking that he raised minimum preflop because he had something like K10 or K9, or something with an ace. then, he raises back at me all in for bout 600. i call and he flips over JJ. i hit nothing on either the turn or flop. should i have done aything different?
  8. really to sum up this whole KQ deal, it all depends on what type of player you are, everyone has their own style. a player who plays by the books and goes by odds (regardless of stack size) will most likely find the better play to be folding. while the player who feels one measly dollar out of his 40 dollar stack wont hurt, will call.
  9. in this situation folding is the right move. not only is there several players raising, but a caller as well, fours full or nines full isnt a great hand to be up against with cowboys
  10. buy in was 150 and i had about 375, big stack was at about 1800
  11. after about 3 hours of play, me and three other buddies were left, with me short stacked, 2 players with a decent amount of chips, and one with a large chip lead. i was in the BB and was dealt Ad6c. first to act folded, then the large stacked player limped. another fold by the SB and i decided to move all in with the A6 figuring that after big stack limped in, and his many previous aggresive plays, i would be happy with a call, or a fold. he called and turned over J7d. he received an inside straight draw on the flop, nothing on 4th street, and hit his jack high straight on the river.was this
