  1. in the terms of a tournament?
    ....example...450 people start..45 tables..only the winner of the table advance..so next round would have 45 people....better explanation..look here....http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tournaments/event.php?id=2280&writeup_id=278&screen=writeup
  2. just got this from the new cardplayer MAG.....i dont think this issue will be out for a week or so....march 15...cover-hellmuth..special National Heads Up Championship issue..TEN MILLION LITTLE PIECESThe Promise of Another Matusow Adventureby Michael Craig I get no shortage of Mike Matusow news, and not jusr because he is my friend and I have written about him. He seems to generate an entire rumor industry, in which nothing is ever too reasonable to be false or too wacky to be true. Most os these items tend to be in the form of questions: Did you hear about Mike in Aruba? Did you hear about Mike in the Bahamas? Did Mike play Chau Chiang heads up? Did Mike record a rap song? Are Mike and Phil Hellmuth friends or rivals? Is Mike broke? Did you hear about when he was playing poker online and... I cant get away from him. I was in Las Vegas on four kinds of business, alseep. My cellphone began making an unfamiliar noise, eventually awakening me. It was signaling that Mike left me a voice message. Even my cellphone has a separate set of rules for Mike Matusow. The time on the message, 4:58am. "Hey Mikey. I thought maybe you'd be up, because you're always up. I got 10 million things going on..." Of course, I call him. And, of course, we get a couple of minutes into the call and he needs to crash because it's 6 am. "Can we get together later?" Thats an insane idea because i have too much stuff going on to even think about meeting Mike. Even more insane? I was the one who asked. Not everyone is interested in Matusow's gravitational pull. One Cardplayer reader wrote, "Keep your love letters to yourself," in response to my pair of columns about Mike at the Tournament Of Champions. (Worse, I think it was written after just the first column ran.) But that was the only negative Email I received. I received many very personal letters- personal to Mike. These correspondents told me what they really wanted to do wass add their own opinions. I can tell you three things about the people who wrote me. First, it was an intelligent group. Even though Mike appears to be the ultimate blue collar hero, many of the people who too the time to voice their appreciation and support of Mike in poker and life came from very educated backgrounds. One email was from a student at Yale, part of a group that offered me $1,000 fro Matusow's Full Tilt jersey that i wore when i spoke there.(i turned it down) Another was from an English teacher. All the emails were smart. Second, they demonstrate that Mike Matusow projects a kind of charisma that makes you feel that you want to be friends with him, and that you may already be friends with him. R. wrote, "From the WSOP to the Tournament of Champions, Mike has been in my house doing what he does best, being "The Mouth." The idea that R. has invited Matusow into his home is not metaphorical. He continued: "My relationship with him, although I have never met him, seems to be a love-hate." Another reader wrote, "I see Matusow and i see the kind of guy I'd like to call a friend, the kind of guy I would easily give the shirt off my back for being so genuine." Yet another, C.,was standing next to some of Matusow's friends and hhis brother Scott (whom he subsequently got to know) when Mike busted out of the Main Event in 2004. C. gave him a hug, and got one, when everyone along the rail was trying to console Mike at what was one of the most emotional moments caught on camera in a poker tournament. Not pretending to know Mike Matusow anymore then that, he still felt a connection. "Mike has made some mistakes- hell, we all make mistakes- but he know what they are, admits them, and is trying not to make them again. Mike wears his heart on his sleeve and will do anything for a real friend." Third, many emails expressed genuine concern and worry for Mike. R. concluded his email by saying, "I just hope that he doesnt crash. A Stu Unger repeat? I hope not." Several readers said they hope Mike invests his money and succeeds in fighting his demons. From having got to know many celebrities- poker players- I recognized that there is a difference between knowing someone and knowing about someone. i take it as a compliment that my writing can contribute to the impression that you can get to know someone by reading about them, but i caution people about taking it too far. On the other hand, I know exactly how you feel, because Mike Matusow is THAT guy. Sure, he acts a little for the cameras, but not about himself, his confidence, his insecurities, his trials and triumps. As i mentioned in this column before, I became friends with Mike the same way: I spent a very short time with him and felt that connection. Not everyone is a fan of Mike Matusow, but despite a lot to potentially object to - he lets it all hang out; he's the biggest target in poker - that number is very few. At the Tournament of Champions, he managed to take a nap on a hallway couch at the end of the dinner break. A woman snatched her boyfriends camera and tried to take a picture. It seemed wrong, so I casually stepped in front of him. A moment later, she apologized. "I'm sorry," she said. "Could you move out of the way? You're in my picture of Mike Matusow." A few minutes later, I followed him into the tournament area. Another woman on her cellphone hurriedly hung up, blurting out, "Mike Matusow just walked in the room." We're all folloing Mike around because we want to see where he is going and what's going to happen when he gets there. His friends, real and potential, are betting on a happy ending.hope you all enjoy....

  4. good job. don't let it go to your head too much, but enjoy it.
it was just a good night..i think i played well and i hit some flops...same night..a lady folds pocket KK preflop...i think she played it totally wrong....3 players..first player bets 25 dollars..she just calls( i think this is where she went wrong) third player raises 100 to go...then she fold face up...the raiser just chuckled...looked like pee wee herman
  5. so i been down and out lately and havent played much...i didnt have that much spending money and was kinda busy with work... so i look in my mail and see a local casino gives me 25 free bet... so i go to the casino and i have 105 bucks with me...i know the poker room is running a 1/2 game with 50-200 buy in... so i take the free bet and put my own 25 cash on the table and play it..i win with a 18 with the dealer busting and she pays me 50 dollars..so i take the 25 cash out and play the two greens(25 chips)..dealer has a A showing but i look at my cards to see a blackjack..so i ask for even money and im up 100$.... i think cool..i have 200 and i take that to the poker room where there are like 6 guys playing in the 1/2 NL...i play tight for a few rounds and im up alittle ...then i find 55 so i limp in and so do 3 others...4 see the flop...flop comes As5d10d...i fill up on the river and a guy pays me off with his A and then I have about 350 in front of me.. next big hand comes when i have about 400 and dealt 10c8c so i limp in but the button raises to 10 and 3 people call in front of me so with the pot odds i call...the flop comes Ac10d3c...everyone checks to the button who is one to my left..he bets out 15 dollars...again all three call in front of me..so i call with my 4 to the flush...i callthe turn brings a 9h and everyone checks to the button who bets out 20 dollars..one player fold next player calls then the one right of me goes all in for his last 36...so i have to call with the pot odds(felt like i was getting sucked in but i knew i was the only one with the flush draw)..so i call...then the original bettor saids....."i reraise all in"....i say you cant do that because the all in player didnt make a raise so you could just call or fold..i didnt want to call another 80 dollars he had left...the dealer agrees with me and he calls...the river brings a Jc making my flush ...so i bet out 100...the button calls with his last 80 and the other player folds...button show AK and i take a huge pot...now im up to about 700 or so and defiantly playing big stack poker....few rounds later i hit a set and bust another guy with a board of K J 4...i had the 444..and dude goes all in with K7..i checked the flop..one to my left bet 20..call..call...i raise 80 togo and then the dude goes all in for 100 total..20 more to me..im up to about 900 or so and grind my way to 1000....then i cash out...sorry it was long....something to read while you guys are bored...

  6. i hate singers at a poker table......i dont care if you have a great singing voice..there is no singing in poker...last night a guy with his Ipod starts singing ..Dancing with my father again....he aint no luther..he wasnt even black..he was armenian or something..the best part was me busting him and sending his arse home..

  7. here are my thoughts on live vs online..and why people play better live..1. the main reason is there are less distractions live.....no web surfing, no watching tv, no kids running around, no wife asking how much longer you are gonna play, no multi-tabling......just less distractions2. after a hour you might still be playing with the same 9 people you started with and have a decent idea how they play..online, you might have 9 new players every 20 minutes...3. there are tells in both games but it think the tells live are much better reads...how they bet(not click), what they do after they bet, alot of the times if i have a marginal hand(suited connectors, middle pairs,AX suited and such) i look to the players to my left and alot of the times i see them reaching for chips before i even act...so i fold...good enough for a call not for a raise which i know they will do...4. less collusion live...i know people play online with instant messengers, cell phones, tag teams, 2 computers.....wont find many live5 love the free drinksjust a few reasons...my opinions....

  8. you always here of professional poker players with PHD or master degrees...or they dropped out of harvard or another ivy school...but i got proof you dont need even a high school diploma to be a pro(a successful pro player)................read this.........When Angela and I were in the Vegas airport, we ran into a bunch of people we knew. First we saw the Man in Black...no guys, not Johnny Cash, the Man in Black of this era is none other than Phil Hellmuth himself. We stopped and had a nice chat about a few different things and it was actually nice to catch Phil with his guard down. He didn’t feel as if he had impress or brag about things. After seeing Phil, we made our way to the gate and there was none other than the Lance, Manager of Poker at Bodog.com. It was kind of cool seeing him, accept I was a bit embarassed because I am a bit behind on my articles for him. I felt like a kid seeing a teacher and not having my homework. We got checked into our rooms and headed down to the “ski concierge” to get our ski rentals. Man, we really thought that our hecticness had ended...i know he is a good player..but kid who graduated from junior high school would know better.......
That is a jopke, and he may be a mrono, but you can't deny that he has all the mobney.(I'm assuming you understand the typos)
typos and not knowing how to spell are understandable.........but cmon meng...

  10. Not to change the topic but how do you guys feel when a known couple are playing at the same table as you?At my local home game there was a kid and his girlfriend who used to play. If a pot ever got heads up between the two of them they would check it down no matter what. Not even trying to hide it. One time they both flopped two pair and checked it all the way to the river and then laughed about it. I didn't want to say anything to them b/c they both sucked and were huge donators to the game but this really censored me off and when i confronted the guy I ended up censored him off so badly that he doesn't play with us anymore. Now everyone is mad at me
wow...there's a couple at my homegame that does that exact same thing...as long as they're the only two in the pot they check it down so that they don't fight about getting outplayed...but they're both donkeys, so whatever
the girl in your avatar......is it me or is the panty too big..its covering her who a55
  11. what are some of the poker couples in the past or present??daniel and Evelyn Ng were togetherEvelyn Ng use to date Adam SchoenfeldTodd brunson and jennifer harmon datedjennifer and marco are marriedanymore......???i know they are brother and sister.....but ..did anyone see annie duke STADDLE hug her brother howard after she won that bracelet? who straddle hugs their brother?

  12. If you were doing this on your own, the whole thing would be mildly stupid. But you have a son (if i read correctly)? I hope for his sake that he lives with his mother and that his mother makes a steady income. Because playing 25/50 PLO with only $10,000 to your name and a child to support is criminally stupid.
i dont think he is married or has a child...he does have a niece....the games in vegas are so soft and filled with fishes that even if he went broke..he could grind it out in low limit and get it back......its not like he went to a roulette wheel and put the whole thing on black...he saw a soft game with a guy his style fits and went for it...its not like he gonna call with AK with a K on the board for all his money...he is gonna wait for a big hand...its a calculated risk...you guys have to give him alittle for credit then thinking he would go broke so easy...
  13. Blackjack gets me back my poker losses. (Commence loss of credibility to forum.)Increment your bets. At least you lose more slowly.Double-down as much as possible, but don't be the one person at the table who doesn't know basic strategy. It is kind of funny. But people get so mad when someone stays on 12-16 with the dealer showing a face card, but they don't say much if the dealer busts and pays the table.I play blackjack 3 or 4 times a week. I usually play $50-200 hands. And I've had success over the last few years. If I could say one obvious thing, "Don't ever play blackjack online." I've never been able to catch a streak and increment that into a win online.
and i thought i had problems
