  1. OK so I just saw the other day that the UFC is coming to my hometown of Portland, Oregon. The tix aren't on sale yet, but anyone have a clue how much they may run for. I dont have much money right now but I'm curious to how much I would need to save. Also are any of you high rollers going to make the trip out here? The best casino in the area is about 1.5 hours from Portland, Spirit Mountain, not sure what they spread though. But there is another group of small Indian casinos about 25 minutes north of Portland in Washington. They spread 3/6 and 4/8 kill games, a 10/20 with many regs in it, and a new 5-150 spread limit game as well. I heard its juicy but haven't been to those casinos in over a year, new son and all.I would be looking for someone to go with to the fights, but cant afford the better seats. I would love a meet up here in town as well if any of you come in. I dont know how much $$ I'll have then, I am just getting back on my feet after losing my job early this summer. Lemme know,Cody
I would say they would start at about $79 upper upper level..
  2. - ELITEXC CONFIRMS KEN SHAMROCK VS KIMBO ON CBSWith less than six weeks to go before EliteXC’s next CBS-EliteXC Saturday Night Fights event, speculation has been ongoing as to who Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson will face on Oct. 4. That speculation can now be put to rest as MMAWeekly.com has confirmed with EliteXC vice president Jared Shaw that Kimbo will face UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock.Much attention was drawn recently to EliteXC’s cancelling of its Sept. 20 event in New Mexico, the company stating that it was necessary to do so to focus its promotional efforts on the pivotal Oct. 4 event on CBS. Shaw supported that statement in confirming Ken Shamrock, saying, “We were clearing the runway for Oct. 4 and we’re landing with some heavy artillery. Kimbo emerged as king of backyard brawls and is a YouTube sensation, now he wants to lay claim to the title of ‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man.’”Though Shamrock is well past the peak of his career – he’s currently on a five-fight losing streak – the facts are that he has a record of 26-13-2, he has been in this sport since before Kimbo left his teenage years, and the strongest part of his game, submissions, is one of the weakest areas for his opponent.“Shamrock is by far the toughest test of Kimbo’s young career,” added Shaw. “He is no stranger to big, tough fights. Ken realizes this is his opportunity to add a storybook finish to an illustrious career. He says he’s seen holes like Swiss cheese in Kimbo’s game.”Indeed, Shamrock has been fighting since before the first Ultimate Fighting Championship event, emerging first for Pancrase in Japan before being called upon to fight in a one-night, eight-man tournament at UFC 1 that also included that night’s eventual champion, Royce Gracie… in 1993.EliteXC is looking to capitalize not only on Kimbo’s unique appeal as a “YouTube sensation,” but also on Shamrock’s background as one of the forefather’s of the sport.“We see a tremendous fight for the casual MMA fan that has caught on to guys like Kimbo, while at the same time appealing to the hardcore fans who have grown up with Ken Shamrock,” said Shaw. “We feel this will test Kimbo and the maturation of his MMA game. Ken being a veteran of the game is going to look to expose Kimbo’s weaknesses. It’s time for Kimbo to show his continued growth and the knowledge that he now has, and put himself in a situation for the biggest victory of is career.”It is no secret that EliteXC has attached itself to the popularity of the Kimbo train and wants to use that popularity to make sure that the pivotal Oct. 4 event on CBS is a ratings success. A win for Kimbo would be a tremendous boost for the promotion in the casual fan’s eyes due to Shamrock’s name recognition. “It’s pretty simple. For Kimbo Slice, he wants to become the world’s most dangerous man and he wants to become the future EliteXC heavyweight champ. The only way for him to achieve those two things is going through Ken Shamrock,” Shaw stated. But what happens if Shamrock derails Kimbo? What does Shaw see for the future if Shamrock’s experience prevails?“If Ken Shamrock wins this fight, he’s on top of the world again. He’s once again proven that he is the most dangerous man in the world. He beat the guy that many consider one of the most unpredictable and dangerous striker’s in the heavyweight division.”In addition to Shamrock and Kimbo, Shaw also confirmed to MMAWeekly.com the rest of the main card, set to air live on CBS. Jake Shields will make the first defense of his EliteXC welterweight title when he faces British fighter Paul Daley, Gina Carano returns to face Kelly Kobald, and Benji Radach makes his promotional debut fighting former EliteXC middleweight champion Murilo “Ninja” Rua. If time permits Shaw added that a second female bout, between Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and Yoko Takahashi, would also air on CBS.

  3. historically the December show is ussually the most stacked card of the year(pretty tough to do this year with 84 and 87) and I think the card needs a little more pop than Nog/Mir. The speculation has been the GSP/Penn fight but thats just been from the fans. Dana said last week that another Montreal show is in the works so it will probally happen then sometime in the new year. The show on superbowl weekend will almost deffinatly be in Vegas so might not happen till late Feb early March.
Time it around affliction and have a double card Penn/GSP , Griffin/Liddell that would surely hurt any show Affliction has.
  4. THe key part of this though, is that Herring usually uses arm locks or choke holds for submissions. I've watched Heath fight for a long time and I can't remember the last time he used a leg submission against anyone of a decent skill level(and w/o checking wiki, I literally can't remember when he last used a lower body submission). Brock should be able to defend against arm and choke submissions. Wrestlers when they start out are always susceptible to leg locks like Mir used
But after Mir I think he would have practice defense of leg locks
  5. I felt the Condit fight was just two people that couldnt finish. It was awful to see them go back and forth and it end in what appeared a very very weak knee. Stann looked like the belt went to his head and he didnt even train, he was flat, punches were weak, defence was weak, and cardio was very weak. Now the few fights prior were pretty good and gave what the fans wanted to see. Having this free is really opening this sport to people that would not normally watch this type of stuff and opening up the fan base for sure. Urijah is going to walk through Brown and its going to be quick. He walks around at or within pounds of weight all the time and always trains hard. I think Pulver was the closest to actually challenge Urijah and he couldnt win so I think Brown is just going to be another win.

  6. Its actually a cyst, a huge cause from them are ear peircings. I get them all the time and they go away. a few years ago I had one burst it swelled my ear to about 20x the size had to go to the emergancy room and have it sliced open and drained. I have been since told just keep your ears and peircings clean and dont mess with the cyst

  7. Yeah, I'll always tune in when Diaz is fighting, but he's just overrated by most people because of his fight with Gomi. He should have destroyed the guy he was fighting tonight. The guy was a can and a shot fighter. He had no legs and it still took Diaz forever to finish him while he got beat on for the first couple minutes of the fight.Mazzagatti is just terrible, I have no idea what he's thinking when he's in there. If he wasn't going to stop the fight, what the hell was he doing stepping in between the fighters when Baszler was on the ground? That was really the weirdest thing I think I've ever seen in an MMA fight.
Have you also noticed Mazzagatti will let the ground game go during the early rounds but when its the last round even if the same slow, not enough work is going on he will stand them, its shiiiittty
  8. Meh...the Robbie fight was okay, the Diaz fight had a great first round as far as excitement goes, not much skill though. The only reason I like Nick is because he never has boring fights, I think if he took it to the ground more he'd do better, I agree about the head movement.Overall the show sucked, but it was better than last time. Like Dana said "the EliteXC card on CBS set MMA back about 5 years."That cyborg chick is ridic, does anyone know if thats the chick that beat up the dude on Rio Heros? Her and Carano would be a good fight imo.I wonder if the night before the fights, Steve Mazagatti sits in his room and tries to figure out how he could **** up and confuse everyone every time a fighter hits the ground. He's really good at that. This dude should never ref again, he's the worst. The "Rape choke" term was first used in the Matt Hamill fight in that random fight night not too long ago. I think Rogan got in trouble for it and he didn't use it again with Wandy.
I agree the EliteXC sucks they need to stop, I dont know about all the rest it may be my cable provider but the broadcast was shit, almost fuzzy all the way through. Smith needs to do something he might have some serious issues internally to keep getting fights ended due to his mid section. The Diaz fight was perdictable, and Mazagatti is the worst Ref Ever he's so flip flop, one fight he stops because of blood next he lets it go to blood is all over the place, one minute he warns of illegal hits ( not just eye gauges) then he lets the opponent due them, he needs to be stopped. Bring back Big John.Wandy/Jardine I think the thumb was low enough not to ubstruct the forbidden areas. As well as the fight was going in a way it wasnt to improve his position/outcome. At that point Jardine was already trashed.
  9. I guess I should have shown him my shotgun sooner, huh?
My daughters future boyfriend will see the guns.... And be asked if he has a platinum card for the date, she has expensive tastes, high end sushi (uni, sea snails, all the exotic stuff), crab, lobster, steak.. And shes only 5.
  10. it had a bit of back and forth feel to it. MaybeI was surprised by Edgar after seeing him against Maynard.
Yeah me too, but Franca looked flat and was not in shape Cardio wise.. Probably alot to do with the roids and has to rebuild his foundation so much he didnt focus on the cardio. Franca on roids or at or near the level he was at on roids Edgar would have been destroyed.
  11. It was a forgetable night.Which fight would you pick?
Well I look at it like this if individual fight replays for the night were say $3.99 and I had a $3.99 credit and had to use it on one of the fights I wouldnt use it on this fight. I rather watch the Markham fight or even the Silva/Irvin fight (even how short it was). The Franca fight was boring all the way through except the last few seconds when Edgar almost got KO and held on for the win. Just those few seconds I dont think constitute a fight of the night bonus.Edit: Dont get me wrong Edgar did follow his game plan perfect however the score cards were WAY in his favorite and I think a fight of the night should have been something that took the fans out of their seats. This fight did not.
  12. Casino."Yes, I did get thrown out of my own casino, I'm not sure how exactly that happened, but they do say that I gave the order."
The GrandWhy are you just standing there, you idiot? I'm not speaking English am I? Wouldn't it make sense to find someone who could talk to me so you could find the person that set me on fire, perhaps? He is the Devil. You've never seen anyone like Keyser Soze in all your miserable life, you idiot. Keyser Soze. Do you at least understand that? Keyser Soze. The Devil himself. Or are you American policemen so stupid that you haven't even heard of him? Keyser Soze, you ridiculous man. KEYSER SOZE.
  13. Reservoir DogsYou two are divorced. So love failed. Two: Mom, your a New Ager, clinging to every scrap of Eastern religion that may justify why the above said love failed. Three: Dad, you're a slick, corporate, preppy-ass lawyer. I don't really have to say anything else about you do I dad? Four: You move from New York City, the Mecca and hub of the cultural world to Utah! Nowhere! To change nothing! More to perpetuate this cycle of greed, fascism and triviality. Your movement of the people, by and for the people got you... nothing! You just hide behind some lost sense of drugs, sex and rock and roll. Ooooh, Kumbaya! I am the future! I am the future of this great nation which you, father, so arrogantly saved this world for. Look, I have my own agenda. Harvard, out. University of Utah, in. I'm gonna get a 4.0 in damage. I love you guys! Don't get me wrong, it's all about this. But for the first time in my life, I'm 18 and I can say "FUUUUUCK YOU!"
