  1. I stayed at the Trop when I was in Vegas in Oct and I liked it plenty. It's in a good location and the games right across the street at MGM Grand are some of the softest I've ever played. The 2/4 limit and 1/2 no limit downstairs at the trop are pretty soft too, but it's a crappy little afterthought of a cardroom. Take the five minute walk over to the MGM and make your money there...Good Luck!
Thanks for the good response....the 1/2 nl game was a joke (made 2k in about 12hrs)....crappy lil card room is right, but I couldnt leave!!! Also played the Bellagio for 30hrs str8(ended that session down about 5 bb)All in all, great trip cant wait to go back!!
  2. Ace on the River was a great read......different than any other poker book out there....a breath of fresh air, if you will....Goes into more of the things that make a winning player away from the table, as well as some hand examples towards the end....a must have for poker nuts like us.....8/10 :club: s

  3. Why is it that everyone seems to complain about too much hold-em, not enough mixed games...WHO HERE EVER HAS PLAYED A MIXED GAME, LIVE? Not a one...Shiatt, 90% probably never played anything but hold-em, live. A $5 on-line stud tourney doesn't count... but all of a sudden everyone is master of Stud/8...pleeeze...
I do all the time.....lol...speak for yourself, man, not every other real poker player on hereRU kidding??? You, my friend, get donkey of the day for this post....let me guess....you picked up poker right after seeing Rounders, now youre some kind of authority??? Gimme a break  Please, guys, help me out here!!!
  4. Who needs the Chappelle when you have the WSOP?It all started episode #1 when a certain gentleman overcalled Farha and Negreanu with AJ on a 765 flop. Puzzled, I thought the guy must have been some eccentric, guy...but then they said he has some sort of non-millionaire occupation.Soon after, I saw a guy challenge Chrid Ferguson with a SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTED K9 that sucked out before getting re-sucked. I made a mental note to drink cautiously only when I was fast-forwarding my TIVO.Week #2 brought us the always entertaining Phil Hellmuth and the more entertaining "Jim Pittman" I loved this guy for ultimate censored. After cold-calling an all-in with J10 SOOOTED, he threw a verbal emper tantrum that forced ESPN's bleep department to work overtime. He threw this tantrum to protest the bad beat he took by cold-calling with a hand that would be ahead to NOTHING. I was more entertained when 2/3 of the table were outraged that Phil did not think it was a bad beat. Seriously...how can 2/3 of a WSOP table have such a non-existent understanding of the game?Jim Pittman then cemented his Hall of Fame status by putting a ridicoulous "I am not going to let Phill Hellmuth push me around with a big bluff..I am going to re-re-re-re-re-re-raise him all-in. I have KJ!!" bad beat on Phil. Phil did us proud in his response to Jim, but that paled to Jim, after throwing a tirade on his J10 "bad beat", called Phil a bleeping crybaby.Week #3 brought us emmy-caliber material for best Comedy Series.SCENE #1 - Steve Dannenman running to his cell phone as soon as he beats Lederer with a bluff. "I popped him $30,000 with 86...he loooks like his dog got kicked" Awww. good job Stevey...you are a tough guy accountant from Maryland. Seriously, I thought this guy was calling his Mom. Lederer doubling through him when he tried to be a big, tough blind defender later was priceless. Norman Chad: I don't see him calling on the cell phone now...hey I just pushed Howard in when he was a 6-1 favorite"Despite the humor, I began to get concerned about the final table. Dannenman is extremely unlikable and not in a funny Jon-Robert or Hellmuth way. They also had just shown Joe Hachem fresh off his casting call for the Rio production of Grease...combined with his failure to tip the dealers after his win, I am walking a path toward disliking the Final Table coverage.SCENE #2 - After a day 1 conversation with Jim Pittman, an inspired dude named Grolemund makes a power play at Lederer with the almighty KJsooted. Lederer makes a gutsy call with top full house and Grolemund reels. We pick up the scene as Grolemund enters a pot with extremely talented Joe Beevers. He does this with an all-in reraise exhibiting between 19-23 tells that he has AK. As all of these gestures are simply his thought process working and not an "acting" job, he clearly does not have a big pair. Beever makes the call, gettting 2 to 1.Mr. KJsooted expresses his astonishment. "I can't believe he made that call." Putting aside the fact that you are mocking a world-class player's play, you cannot complain about getting calls on hands like this when A) you just made a ridiculous play with KJ and B) you basically exposed your cards with your contortions. Always high comedy.SCENE #3 - Adam Friedman losing a pot with the 2nd nut flush. I actually felt bad for him because he got so upset...I am not laughing at that. It just really highlights how ridiculous some of the plays have been at this year's WSOP and how humorous the oblivious players have been at what they consider cagey moves. Putting your money in with the 2nd nut flush, especially when the guy could have the naked Ah, is not nearly that bad and I hope this player does well in the future.SCENE #4 - A montage of young gun chip leaders at the end of Day 2 shows Joe Stillman. Wait a second...the guy who called Chris Ferguson's all-in with K9!!!!! A chip leader? How? On second thought, maybe the WSOP is not funny.
  One of the best posts I have ever read, period!!! You sir have summed up my feelings on this years "WSOP" to a tee!!! Well done.P.S. I know, I know....but, I was so entertained, I figured I'd re-post it....sorry guys
  5. It was lovely seeing Howard beat Steve out of 45k or so after losing that 30k on a great bluff and then Stevie running to his cell phone to pimp himself. LOL
I was wondering why that douchebag wasnt on the phone then..."Hey...yeah, ummm...I just doubled him up with K5....well, ah, ummm.....I had to defend my blind."STFU A$$hole!!!!! That other poster was right....he better watch his a$$ around other pros since that pitiful display aired(Dont these morons realize theres cameras and mics everywhere??!!!) Whew....sorry guys, that felt good :wink:P.S. How horrid was that donkeys play with KJ when Howard had nines??? Bets 20k on the flop, gets called then goes all-in on turn when a 9 hits??? Huh??? WOW
  6. Oh, I might have made that call too.  I dont fault him for losing with the 2nd nuts.  That happens. However, I would not cry after losing.  No crying.  Especially on TV.
I agree....tough hand, but as far as whimpering like a child after losing??? No freakin way, TV cameras or not :!:
  7. Best part by far though was the red-headed kid crying after losing with a K high flush to the nut flush. There's no crying in POKER!!!!
Almost peed my pants!!! Talk about throwing bait to the sharks....can you imagine if someone at your table did that??
  8. This whole thread is irrelevant, b/c Hudson bet, Farha raised, and then Hudson went all-in, and then Farha auto-called. So, Hudson had no chance to fold, and you can't say he should have been scared by Farha's first raise.....
 You bring up an excellent point
  9. The guy leans back in his chair to take a moment, no exactly a slowroll....geez
He said something about 'if I lose, I can go blah, blah, blah...'...when he had the unbeatable nuts. That was unnecessary.
  Were you even paying attention??? He acted like he wasnt sure about calling or not....started breaking his chips, counting them out....total spit in the face....not the way a pros supposed to actP.S. Timdog was paying attention, you were just watching
  10. Let me add something for those with reading comprehension problems....the amount Zeitman raised Jen Harman on the flop represented more than 1/4 of Jen's stack....What the fuk do you think Harman is calling off a quarter of her stack with on that flop? She either has you slaughtered or drawing with a set....there is no in between...Harman is not a donk....I don't think she sees KQ in her hand on that flop and says...Yeah...I'll draw to a split.....and calloff 1/4 of my stack to do it.He ANNOUNCED his hand.....she is a good enough player that you can make a deduction from her ensuing action to your announcement.
Agreed...that is a bad bet on the turn...you take the free card and see what develops on the river
  11. Not sure why you are surprised that a Blackjack player plays poker badly...or did on the one hand we saw him play anyway.:think:I heard Michael Jordan sucks at baseball too.
Thank You!!! Guys, hes a blackjack expert....doesnt mean he has to know what hes doing at the poker table as well :!: That was absolutely horrible play, including Sammys call with 33(did you hear DN?? "Gambling, huh??")
  12. Huck could have any concealed pair in this spot, or three suited or connecting cards. Queens are a PREMIUM PAIR, you don't just fold because one is out. If you figure to have the best hand, which DN most likely did, then you play it, which he did. I don't know what else there is to it. It isn't THAT likely that he is gonna run into concealed Kings or Aces.
My sentiments exactly....if you dont play this hand with aggression, then youre probably playing way too tight, imo
