  1. I don't know agree with this without exceptions, but something similar seems reasonable. Zimmerman could have ended it by shooting him in the leg. Shooting someone is just raising the bar quite a bit, and I would prefer a deterrent. However, many people have died without the use of a gun, and he could have been legitimately fearing for his life.
Quite right.Deterrents: Pepper spray? Taser? Better yet, leaving the guy alone and reporting properly to the real authorities?
  2. Yeah we should all quit arguing and get out there and stop some crime!I mean, especially if we are arguing semantics.
I put that in there because of all the discussion regarding phrasing of application of law and the inclusion/exclusion of a variety of words that may or may not change the meaning of people's phraseology, which simply seems to cloud the issue. This seems to be the core question here: Was it or was it not self-defense? I think if everyone had the option of jumping into a phonebooth and changing into their favorite superhero, I think a lot of people would, but the law and it's interpretation and application will still be a problem.
  3. merc, lets fight in florida. i'll even let you have the first punch.
If it leads to angry sex afterwards, then sure, let's do it
Those stats are bullshit. They don't tell you what they are including in "gun deaths" and yet they are clearly trying to say that you are more likely to be murdered by a gun in Alaska than in Washington, D.C., which we all know is pure lies.
Maybe so, but the point I'm making is that there is far too much gun violence and it's a systemic symptom of a society that's gone the wrong direction from what the laws intended and it's a shame, because the USA is a beautiful country and has many great things going for it.
  4. Not to stir things up, but...just an observation here:Is this or is this not a fine example of how deep down the rabbit hole American society and the laws that are supposed to govern and protect it have gone? I mean, look at you guys arguing semantics while somewhere someone in your country is probably getting shot in the face while you're posting.Amazingly, Florida isn't on this list, but I think we all know that stats and tables like this can be juked:Deadliest gun statesThis situation is far beyond an individual situation like Trayvon Martin's death. It's only superficial facts that differentiate this tragedy from thousands of other tragedies like this every year. Amazingly, the USA trails most of Central America in firearm related deaths per capita, along with South Africa, The Philippines and (what?) Estonia. There is a need for change, but I just don't see it happening. Blame whoever you want, but it's not going to stop people from dying needlessly.

  5. Sorry for the Jersey guys, but anyone with a nickname like "Fitness" shoudl have been eliminated in utero. OK, just a joke...they were decent guys, even if they did seem to be Jersey Shore rejects. Still too harsh? Anyway, point is, they were unlucky because of the ease of the challenges and the labour intensive Fast Forward.Looking forward to the bitchy comments next week in the Hottie vs Nottie clash of the titanically small brains.

  6. I yeah, one more thing, Omar's time was long ago. His character was almost too good at what he did. Very unrealistic that he hadn't been killed by a random kid/person earlier.
Omar on the witness stand: Day at a time I suppose...
Omar lived because he rarely, if ever, exposed himself to a situation he wasn't in control of. And when word on the street is that Omar is ALWAYS willing to go all the way, people gonna respect that and give the man a wide berth. Like when he went to get Cheerios in his robe with no gun. People cleared out and he even got a stash to drop in his lap without even asking.
  7. Re: Playoff Adds and Drops...Adam's right. Unless Yahoo auto-limits and/or tracks this type of thing, it's way too much admin to bother with. For my part, I didn't drop anyone off my team after my last week and I don't know if anyone else did, but they shouldn't have. If eliminated teams start dropping decent players just because they are out in order to make them available (for whatever reason), that def is something that shouldn't happen, esp if it's a marquee player and next thing you know it's a waiver war.If there is a setting to prevent drops and adds by eliminated teams, make it so. If not, just don't.For teams still playing, if there is a setting to apply adds and drops only to DTD/IR type players, make it so. If not, it should be anything goes, otherwise it's too much of a headache.

  8. Finished Tree of LifeI will say that it's one hell of a great looking movie and the editing is very innovative and evocative of life experience. this type of narrative doesn't work all that well for me. I don't need a linear story, nor do I require simplicity, but I found this movie played like a dream, almost. Or memories. Some stuff really caught me, but most of it was kind of snooze-inducing.It's still something worth watching at least once. I found it's pacing and style to be most related to 2001: A Space Oddysey. There could be less flattering comparisons, I suppose, but there is little question that Malick is an adept filmmaker, though he lacks cohesion in the story-telling department.Keep an eye out for the 6 hour Director's Cut.Tree of Life Director's Cut?

  9. "Feggs"...while not the most appetizing moniker, the actual dish sounds pretty excellent and one can certainly adjust the ingredients to suit individual taste. Thanks! Also, once had a girlfriend who was somewhat sociopathic. Very chameleonesque personality. Adept at lying and making people feel the way they wanted to feel about her and things in general. I was completely fooled until the day she was gone, then it all snapped into place...
