Smooth calling preflop implies that we don't spring the trap until someone bets at the flop after we check. Why do you prefer checking the flop here? Are you only getting action from hands that beat you? -
If that is the case, shouldn't you check the river hoping to induce a bluff? He sounds passive and would most likely check behind with an ace or better king.I called the flop and bet the river because I had my opponent on exactly king high, or possibly worse. The biggest mistake these guys all make is that they pay off way too much
Which one is it? If he pays off too much, he isn't folding A high for sure, and will call many if any king highs. I think that your weak K high is best as a bluff catcher, based on what you've told us of the villain so far. A read on the villain in the original post is always niceWhen the 8 hit the turn, though, I figured I had to bet in case he has king high or decides to fold ace high there
Just because YOU know it's the right play, doesn't mean that that thought ever even crossed his mind ;)PS- Don't flame me guys, I know it's DN and all, but people regularly get ripped on much worse for posting hands without reads and such. When posting hands in strat it shouldn't matter who you are, there should be constructive criticism given....(it's actually the right play vs. me for sure) -
As long as you have enough chips to cap every street (for those rare times you hit a monster), it doesn't matter. The only exception that I can think of is on a site where they have uncapped bets when heads up on the river, and there is a maniac around who will 5+ bet into you with poor or non-nut holdings. In that case make sure you have him covered

Looks good. Gotta raise the turn to make the button pay to draw out. I don't give MP2 credit for having a 9 or 10-7 the way the action went. I would put MP2 on 77 or A8, if even that good.
-
I could see going into check-call mode after he caps the flop when there are no draws to be had. You are likely looking at 88/A8/AK once he does that.

As they say, easy come, easy go. You won 30 buyins in a month, that is some savagely good variance right there.Remember that it's a long run game. It's easy to get on a rush and think you are the best ever and able to leave up a buyin or two every night. But you're also bound to have the terrible nights, it's just the flip side of the good variance that you just experienced.

Okay, that 10% "admin fee" is pretty bogus (I just looked it up on party's site). B&M tables that have BBJ's don't take any admin fee as far as I know, so at least there it would be neutral EV.That's not true.85% of it comes back to you, 15% goes to the house.Or maybe 10%, either way, it's not a neutral EV situation. -

Technically in the looooong run that 0.50 raked per pot will come back to you, so it's neutral/zero EV. Basically it's just a way to wildly increase the variance and drag more gamblers to those tables.

Looks fine. If UTG+1 is tight and wouldn't check-3bet with something AT or less, then you could fold the flop. That would take a read though since many will do that with KT/AT..

Looks good. Also see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poker_probability_(Omaha)

Hell yes. Not to mention that sometimes this is a lower set instead of a straight.

Fire again on the turn. You are open ended (any 9 or K) and your A/J may be clean. And this guy may well fold or call with a weaker A high. How bad is this? I almost folded the turn, but stuck around for the gutshot. -
You are trying to bluff a player who is loose, aggressive and can't lay down a hand. Think about that for a second.
-
I call here minus any significant readsvillain is running 30/0i can tell he is not very good, he is very much a calling station and is very passive.

Omaha (especially PLO) can be very frustrating. Today I played a short session of PLO ring games where all my bluffs got called and all my 2nd nut hands (sometimes even with redraws) were losers to the nuts
Oh and one hand where I had the nut straight with a flush draw, and the guy with the same straight as me backdoored a different flush. That sucked.

The rake at this 3/6 game will probably be quite killer as well... I would suggest doing some bonus whoring/rakeback deals online and see how that goes.
-
Well from their perspective you could have the nut flush, since your actions (smooth call the club flop, check the scare card, value bet the river) are consistent with that... Button could well have a hand like 52/62, but when the SB 3bets the river that hard, I think we are looking at a straight flush or quads here...

You committed your stack when you 4bet preflop. Not a great flop, but shove anyways. FWIW I often just call in spots like that preflop because raising $15 more, with still fairly deep stacks and out of position (as well as turning our hand face up) usually ends poorly for us.
-
QFT. And if he has JJ-QQ and an ace or king hits the turn, you may not get the rest of his stack. Awwww riiin.Shove since he 4-bet you preflop. He's got an overpair and isn't letting go. -
I like a call/call/fold river line since it's the only real way to get value from worse hands. Throwing in a raise at any point will fold out <Q high flushes. On the river most villains won't be 3 barrelling a 3rd nut or worse hand for full pot.
-
I just fold this preflop. 3568 is trash that needs a perfect flop to play for stacks... And J43 isn't that great of a flop.

Chris Moneymaker and Jamie Gold won the WSOP ME. In any tournament a run of great cards can do wonders...

Yeah in Ace on the River he said that in his lifetime he has won something like 58% of his limit holdem sessions and 70% of his NL holdem sessions.I think barry g said something just like this as well... that he wins %60 of his sessions or a winning player does I cannot recall one of those two.
.25/.50 99 Early Position.

Looks good. Leading out could well result in MP2 raising and forcing out the fishy.
