  1. well I do think it's a trivial fold :icon_biggrin:I mean even if you want to add in every ATo and AJo and still keep TT out of his range which I think is a huge stretch and being very optimistic it's still a foldText results appended to pokerstove.txt 27,720 games 0.005 secs 5,544,000 games/secBoard: Ah Jh TcDead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 38.966% 34.79% 04.18% 9643 1158.50 { AdJd }Hand 1: 61.034% 56.85% 04.18% 15760 1158.50 { KQs, KhTh, QhTh, Qh9h, Th9h, 9h8h, AJo-ATo, KQo }I really think it's very unlikely that he is going to c/r AT here and def. not JT...there's just no way to continue with this hand

  2. I'd fold it Zimmer. 3. 2 calldowns from today:http://www.pokerhand.org/?2582873So, this hand is a good exercise in board reading and also on bet-sizing tells once we get to the river. Flop is QQ7 2-tone, a board that misses most of my opponents’ range and a board that is generally great to c-bet because you are likely to take the pot down right there, and even if you don’t you can still put a ton of pressure on likely weak made hands on the turn and river. However, there are two factors that lead me to check back. 1) my hand has good showdown value, and 2) the blinds are both good, aggressive players who will notice the same thing that I have about the nature of the board and may therefore choose to play back at me with total air, and they will certainly put some pressure on if they flopped a flush draw. Getting c/r’ed here puts me in a spot where I have to fold even though I have the best hand a lot. For the same reasons, they are also likely to stab at the pot on the turn after everyone has shown weakness, and I have a nice bluff-catcher.The turn is a T putting out a second flush draw. Villain is in the perfect steal spot after the sb checks the turn again and I have already shown weakness. And there are about a billion possible draws, so gotta call the turn.Everything bricks on the river, and he bets again. Now we’re in a pretty tough spot, and it comes down to what his individual frequencies for continuing with bluffs are. But in this case, there’s something else. He only bet 330 into a pot of 500! To me, this was a tell that he most likely did not have trips or better, leaving him with a range consisting mostly of AT type hands and bluffs, and I have an easy call. I cannot stress enough the importance of picking up on these bet-sizing tells; many, many players have them and if you can pick up on them you are increasing your edge by a huge amount. Obviously it’s also important to make sure that you yourself do not give off these tells.http://www.pokerhand.org/?2582867Just going to go through my through process on the calldown here. Villain is a player who I haven’t played with all that much but I can already tell from a couple of hands I have played with him and something Mark told me that he is very aggressive and capable of making a big bluff. On the turn there is just way too much possible stuff going on where my hand could be good, and if I am folding an overpair to this player when a good bluffcard for me falls I’m going to get run over. At first glance it appears that a bad card has fallen on the river. But the fact is that after I call the turn he has to be considering that I might be on a flush draw myself, and in spite of this he very quickly bets out almost a full pot bet. This makes a non-flush hand that beats mine very unlikely, since if he has a set or whatever he has to be concerned. So now I have to figure out whether he has a flush or not. This was a case where me holding the As really made my decision a lot easier. Without Axss as possible flush hands, the only hand that really made any sense to me that beat me was 34ss. I honestly didn’t consider that he would have floated the flop OOP with worse than A high, but even if you add in overs that he’s floating the only extra possible flush is KJss. And it adds extra possible bluffing hands with the other king jacks that didn’t make a flush. So, given that there are almost no reasonable hand combinations that make a flush and his ability to run a big bluff, I have a straightforward call and win a nice pot.

  4. Some hands from today that I think illustrate some interesting points.POKERSTARS GAME #16938346695: HOLD'EM NO LIMIT ($10/$20) - 2008/04/23 - 13:20:46 (ET)Table 'Equinox' 6-max Seat #6 is the buttonSeat 1: TheCleaner11 ($3109 in chips) Seat 2: Jeetorious ($2555 in chips) Seat 3: ImNotSoGood ($2072 in chips) Seat 4: Flupkees ($3084 in chips) Seat 5: TheKaas ($1970 in chips) Seat 6: punketty ($2000 in chips) TheCleaner11: posts small blind $10Jeetorious: posts big blind $20*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to Jeetorious [Qd Ad]ImNotSoGood: raises $40 to $60Flupkees: folds TheKaas: folds punketty: calls $60TheCleaner11: folds Jeetorious: calls $40*** FLOP *** [8d Ts 2d]Jeetorious: bets $133ImNotSoGood: calls $133punketty: calls $133*** TURN *** [8d Ts 2d] [7c]Jeetorious: checks ImNotSoGood: bets $389punketty: calls $389Jeetorious: calls $389*** RIVER *** [8d Ts 2d 7c] [Kd]Jeetorious: bets $1973 and is all-inImNotSoGood: folds punketty: folds Jeetorious collected $1753 from potJeetorious: doesn't show hand Seat 6: punketty (button) folded on the RiverI think the turn in this hand is a spot that a ton of players mess up. They think "oh I've got a flush draw" and bet again without really thinking about the situation because they don't know what else to do, or do something even worse like c/r'ing or c/c'ing. But once you get 2 flop callers and the 7 rolls off (a card that is going to hit their ranges hard), I think betting again is hopeless as you have very little fold equity and many times you won't even get to see the river since someone is going to raise. So I decided to check/fold, but then with a bet and a call in front of me I was all of a sudden getting very good odds, so I called. Then I hit on the river, and instead of taking time to think through the situation I decided to shove quickly because I think that looks the bluffiest. I'm still not sure what the best play is, that is one of the scariest cards that can fall and with 3 people each putting bets in on the flop and turn I'm not sure how often a non-flush hand is going to shove. Then again, it's still very hard to get called when you shove. I think I still slightly prefer shoving since in general people are more likely to make the mistake of calling too thin than value-betting too thin.POKERSTARS GAME #16938182798: HOLD'EM NO LIMIT ($10/$20) - 2008/04/23 - 13:12:10 (ET)Table 'Isonoe III' 6-max Seat #1 is the buttonSeat 1: punketty ($4426 in chips) Seat 2: TheKaas ($2409 in chips) Seat 3: Flupkees ($3021 in chips) Seat 4: Jeetorious ($2195 in chips) Seat 5: emaille ($2000 in chips) Seat 6: TheCleaner11 ($1870 in chips) TheKaas: posts small blind $10Flupkees: posts big blind $20emaille: posts big blind $20*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to Jeetorious [6s 6c]Jeetorious: raises $60 to $80emaille: folds TheCleaner11: raises $200 to $280punketty: calls $280TheKaas: folds Flupkees: folds Jeetorious: calls $200*** FLOP *** [6h 7c 2s]Jeetorious: checks TheCleaner11: checks punketty: checks *** TURN *** [6h 7c 2s] [8h]Jeetorious: bets $611TheCleaner11: folds punketty: calls $611*** RIVER *** [6h 7c 2s 8h] [As]Jeetorious: checks punketty: bets $3535 and is all-inJeetorious: calls $1304 and is all-in*** SHOW DOWN ***punketty: shows [Kh Ah] (a pair of Aces)Jeetorious: shows [6s 6c] (three of a kind, Sixes)Jeetorious collected $4717 from potI think the river check is instructive, and I also came very close to folding my hand on the river, took about 25 secs off of my time bank before finally making the call. I think shoving the river against this opponent is a mistake, as he is more likely to make a big fold than a big call, and once the ace hits it’s very difficult for him to call unless he can put me on complete air a good % of the time (unlikely given the prior action). However, he is very capable of turning a made hand into a bluff (since my hand looks exactly like one that wants to see showdown for free, as with air hands or monsters the standard play would be to shove) or going for thin value himself with a hand like KK. So I checked, and he shoved the river fairly quickly. The timing of both his call on the turn and his shove on the river gave me a really eerie feeling; I think this is a fairly complex spot and he generally needs to take at least a few seconds on the river before making a thin value shove or deciding to bluff, and I think 77, 88, and AA are definite possibilities for him. I think being able to go with your read in these spots is very important, and on a related note I think it’s funny how everyone seems be giving Hachem shit for doing exactly that and folding the 35…people make bad calls over and over day in and day out and you never hear a word from anyone about it, but if anyone ever makes a bad fold it’s like they committed some terrible sin. It’s obviously in human nature to want to see the cards which makes calling more appealing than folding, but in the end a mistake is a mistake and it seems like everyone has gotten so opposed to folding the best hand they avoid plugging the rather large leak of being station-y. Anyway enough about that, in the end I still thought I was behind more often than not but I wasn’t confident enough in my read to overcome the nice pot odds I was getting and I ended up calling. It’s weird in that my read about the type of hand he had may have been correct, but AhKh is about the only hand with which he has a clear value shove that I’m ahead of.I actually have another hand as well but this post is long enough as is and I’m not sure if anyone is actually interested in reading my babbling so I’ll hold off and post it if anyone requests it.

  5. I have had a question to ask you since I saw the Stinger vids you were in. Do you really get enough fish at those stakes to feed all you guys? Or do you play lower regularly?
I was in Stinger vids? There aren't too many fish fish, definitely some but where a lot of the money comes from is that weaker regs cycle in and out of the games, either taking shots from lower stakes or just guys like hotmark who are rich and decide to play a lot for a couple of weeks, guys who have been on heaters, etc. There are also guys who are good winning regs but if you can figure out their games you can take a lot of money from themI'm probably going to be playing about half 5/10 for the next couple of months because I'm not yet convinced that my hourly at 10/20 is higheredit: thanks anthony!

  7. fwiw I recently started bringing bank checks to casinos and getting cash for them there, easier/safer to carry those instead of cash and also easier to get from your bankAlso if they only give you chips from a wire, seems like you could just get the full amount in chips and then get cash for chips?

  8. but this is where there is TONS of the poker world has convened for the sole purpose of playing poker. what Tony G is talking about is the biggest regular running cash game in the world and no well known professional poker players in it. i'm still skeptical.
Yeah seems likely that Tony G is full of shit...I highly doubt he has won anywhere near $8 mil in his lifetime nevermind the last 4 months
  9. fun/weird hand I played today. Villain had been reraising to 110, so as soon as I saw 220 I realized that he had mistyped ( or fake mistyped), and I had a pretty easy shove. But he knows that I know, and there's a lot of money in the pot at that point.
