  1. why are you lobbying to pay for this
I second that question. You got money to burn, you give Rocketwadster a call and he'll take it.
Given that we're all into this game enough to be posting on a forum (and probably reading poker books and playing a lot), it's probably safe to say that we've all got some money to burn -- especially if it's for something like seeing every hand of a final table, which could improve our winnings.Personally, I'm hoping that ESPN comes out with a DVD set including every hand of the main event featured tables and final tables of all events. I'd consider paying as much as 3-500 for this.
  2. I cannot believe this thread has gotten to 8 pages. This is an easy one guys. At small stakes, it's a raise and it's not even close. If you find yourself at a high stakes table with 6 limpers, you should thank your lucky stars, then raise. Seriously, by not raising, you're giving money to marginal hands.

  3. I just think you guys are using the term "Superstar" too loosely. Superstar, by my definition, should be reserved for the elite among the stars. Wallace is a great player, but nobody would dream of arguing that he is as good as Shaq or Duncan. He's great, but he's not in the true upper echelon of NBA stars. And no, I wouldn't call Nowitski or Rodman superstars either.

  4. I normally play very tight until 5-6 are left and then loosen up until it becomes down to the bubble. I get really aggresive at this point until I am in the money. Then by that time the blinds are so high I have to take chances.I have a seperate question. What is the relaistic expection to finish in the moeny? I believe I am around 40-50% right now. Is this is a good number? I only play single table tourneys.
You clearly play at Partypoker. And for that blind structure you're playing correctly. When the blinds get high, you want to steal as many of them as possible -- especially when you're in the money. The OP plays at stars, where the blinds don't get as high as fast.
  5. Normally distributed SnGs should be played to make the money. 60% of the prize pool is given upon cashing, and your goal is to lock up a chunk of that. After cashing, your goal is to win, period. After you cash, 40% of the prize pool remains. Third gets nothing, second gets 10% and the winner gets a whopping 30%. This means that you want to play for a win once you've cashed, but you should start the tournament trying to make the money. Multi-table tournaments are different because they are much more front loaded.

  6. Ben Wallace is an all-star and a great player, but "Superstar" implies a greatness on both ends of the floor that he doesn't have. Many people are arguing that Nash isn't a superstar because of his lack of defensive presence. The reverse case can be more easily made for Wallace.I agree that he's the best player on his team, a winner and an asset almost any team would love to have. But superstar status should be reserved for players like Duncan and Jordan, who dominate both ends of the floor.

  7. wow i love how all the gay heat fans have to come up with excuses that players were hurt. the bottom line is that the pistons always find a way to win when they need to end of story the pistons are clearly a better TEAM
Yeah, because being a heat fan totally makes you gay, and having two of the three best players left in the playoffs hurt to a clearly debilitating extent didn't change the outcome one bit. FYI, any time you start a post by calling the other side "gay" you look really, really stupid.
  8. How many teams has Shaq been on that haven't made the playoffs?
Shaq has had another all star player "leading" the way every team he has been on...with orlando he had hardaway (who was argueable the best player then)with lakers he had kobe (the lakers werent really playoff contenders until kobe got better)with miami he has wade What happened without wade in game 6? they got absolutely torn apart.B/c shaq is so big he is good and a usual 20/10 player...but he cant really shut down anybody anymore, nobodies really afraid to drive on him anymore... wade is the true star on that team
Yes, at his overripe age and while injured, Shaq is a 20/10 player. In his prime, he was a 29/13 player on almost 60% shooting. But hardaway was totally the best player on that team :-PAnd Kobe's supporting cast this year was underrated. Shaq, Odom, Grant, Atkins and Butler would have made the playoffs.
  9. is shaq good? yes...does him being 80 lbs heaver then anybody else play a huge part in that? yes. Shaq alone cannot lead a team to the playoffs any better then kobe can or do I need to remind u of game 6 where shaq had to play with out wade? Wade is the real allstar on that team and when he went down so to did the Heats hope...Shaq is good for about 20 pts 8-10 rebounds a game but thats about it. Pistons have had his number 2 years in a row now. As for the Heat..they made the playoffs last year without shaq and would have probably done the same thing this year.
How many teams has Shaq been on that haven't made the playoffs? One NBA GM said in Shaq's prime that all you need is him and 4 guys from the YMCA to win 50 games. His age has hurt him more than losing Kobe. Anyone remember the brutal speed that used to accompany his strength? It's actually kind of sad to see him struggle to score 25 against single coverage these days, considering he used to regularly get 30 against a triple team.
  10. If Shaq was at 100% health, name 1 player you would rather have on your roster. Anybody you say is going to be rediculous because Shaq is the most dominant and unstoppable force in the game. You could put Shaq on an NBDL roster and they would at least make the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Duncan. He's better at both ends of the floor right now.Obviously I'd prefer Shaq when he was Duncan's age, but that's kind of moot at the present.
  11. Yeah, the Heat losing by a small margin when both Shaq and Wade were injured is totally indicative of Kobe's irreplacability. Everyone ready for the most boring finals in the history of the game? I put the over/under on PPG at 75 for each team. God, I might not even watch.

  12. What about just raising instead of limping with AA?
The OP plays in games with 100BB stacks. If he plans to raise AA, he has to raise a lot of hands, or else he kills himself with reverse implied odds.Limping with AA in EP when deep stacked is often a good play. You're guaranteed to break someone if you get set over set, you get to raise and take down a sizable pot if someone bets. If you're generally a tight player, then limping with AA from EP is necessary, otherwise everyone at the table will know what you have when you bet. For lower limit online players, limping isn't necessary (in fact, it's probably foolish), because the other players aren't paying any attention to you. For a 1000NL player, limping may be the best play. To the OP: I would generally repop to 200, because once 20% of my stack is out there, I know the dude doesn't have implied odds to call, so I can proceed with the hand comfortably. I'm sure there are better ways to play aces than that, but it's all I can offer. I usually play with 50BB stacks, at lower limits, so I don't come across this situation often.
  13. If you want to learn how to play aces in early position I gave a free lesson under some other thread. fell free to post feedback here.
No, what you did was throw a lame bad beat story into a worthless post. I'm actually mad at myself for reading this much of the thread.EDIT: By the way, limping with AA when you have 12.5 BB is a bad play most of the time. You got raised because someone had a premium hand, not because you played ssssoooo perfectly.
  14. "Nice call jack***"or"How could you..."any barraging in a hand is a sign of fish, and it really censored me off at tables.  You see it once an hour online. Some one gets a bad beat, and then is stupid enough to give the fish LESSONS!  What are you doing? Why don't you want him to stay bad, and more importantly why dont you want him to have fun and feel excepted.  Pros make the fish feel like its just a fun game.  No insults, or the bad players feel bad and they will leave.  Any good player knows that.If you make fun of the live ones, you probably are yourself.
You only see it once an hour? You must not multi-table."Play me $500 heads up right now!!!"-- dozens of fish, daily
  15. I think you should bet more preflop/on the flop. Unless you raise a lot of hands, you're killing yourself with reverse implied odds by only getting 10% of your stack in there preflop. If you do raise a lot of hands, good raise.I'd check/raise all-in on the flop. Given that you checked the turn, I think you've just got to take a read. Does this guy bet small when he has the nuts? Does he bet small when he bluffs? Does he change it up well (worst scenario)? If you haven't been paying attention, use pokertracker stats to figure him out as best you can. If you don't have pokertracker, and you're playing 215s, get pokertracker.

  16. is that you talked shit to him. Why not just be polite and add him to your buddy list?If you buddy list him now, you'll be getting shit every time you sit at a table with this cash cow. Learn to leave your pride behind and just take the fish's money. Over and over again. Furr-real

  17. wtf are u complaining about...thats not a bad beat u fool, u flopped a flush but there were possible hands that killed yours on the flop....u bet like a pus sie and let the guy with 2 pair who was right for calling ur weak bets hit is boat...i mean c'mon u wanna hear bad beats i'll give u an ear full...
fuhreal, that small flop raise was not rocks and rings
