  1. Alright, so I really suck at Omaha 8. It's definately my weakest game. Any thoughts would be gretly appreciated.$3.40 Single Table HORSE Sit & Go Turbo on PokerStarsFirst Hand of the Omaha 8/B SectionEach Player Started with t1,500 in chipsBlinds t15/t30Seat 1 (t1,410) FoldsSeat 2 (t1,570) CallsHero (t1,500) (JhAcQc5h) CallsSeat 4 (t1,410) FoldsSeat 5 (t1,580) CallsBotton (1,530) FoldsSmall Blind (t1,615) CallsBig Blind (t1,340) ChecksPREFLOPSeat 1: FoldsSeat 2: CallsHero (Jh Ac Qc 5h): CallsSeat 4: FoldsSeat 5: CallsBotton: FoldsSmall Blind: CallsBig Blind: ChecksPot Size: t150FLOP: 2c 7d 3sSmall Blind: ChecksBig Blind: ChecksSeat 2: ChecksHero: ChecksSeat 5: Bets t30Small Blind: FoldsBig Blind: CallsSeat 2: FoldsHero: CallsPot Size: t240TURN: 2hBig Blind: ChecksHero: ChecksSeat 5: Bets t60Big Blind: FoldsHero: CallsPot Size: t360RIVER: AsHero: ChecksSeat 5: ChecksAgain, I suck at Omaha 8-any help would be appreciated.

  2. I was going to post this hand from a HORSE tournament in the tourny section, but i figured the folks who frequent that section are mostly no limit guys and probably wound't know much about Omaha 8/B. Omaha 8/B is definately my weakest game, so feedback on any part of this hand would be greatly appreciated.Situation: Fulltilt $24+$2 HORSE Tournament. 157 Entrants. 19 Players remaining. 3. there's only five others at the table.. is this a single table SNG or what are we playing for? I think AJ is the best hand a LOT of the time five handed, so I think the raise UTG is a fine play, but a better play because we're so shortstacked. Once he reraises, we might as well get it in here.
This is a $8 satellite to the FTOPS Limit Holdem Super Satellite. There we approximately 30 entries. The tournament pays out to the top 3.

Short handed and I'm short stacked. After my initial open raise I only have a little over 2 big bets left. It doesn't seem like I can just call. It seems like my only options are fold or reraise? Or was I just a donk for open raising AJ in the first place?

  5. It seems obvious to me UTG is representing a big pair (or possibly AK, though unlikely). I would muck 99 preflop. The only hand within his range that you can beat is AK. Unless, obviously, you have a read on him and have a reason to believe he'd open raise for that much $ w/ a broader range of hands. In that case I would shove preflop. I wouldn't want to put myself in a tough spot postflop from out of position w/ a hand like 99.

  6. I just baught pokertracker and am looking for some help using it for tournaments. Specifically, what should my VP$IP, PFR %, and TA numbers be if I'm playing solid, aggressive tournament poker? Are there any other numbers that are important to look at when using pokertracker in tournaments?

  7. On this kind of board I want to say check behind on the flop. What's your equity against a set? That would decide if I shove or fold. I don't think call is an option - if the flush hits you won't get paid, and if it doesn't, you're facing a big bet on the turn.
Agreed. If you just call and then make your hand on the turn, you'll never get paid. Just shove.
  8. I'd have a hard time laying down KK in a low stakes short handed game, unless I have really good read. Without knowing your specific read on the player, I tend to fall back on what I know of players in general at $.25/$.50. It's pretty common to see them overplay hands like 10-10, JJ, QQ, A-Ks, or even A-Qs (occasionally). Since there's only one hand within his range that scares you (AA) I think you have to call.

  9. Hard to comment on the hand without knowing how much you bet relative to the blinds and pot size on each street. As far as for your last question, you should try the $.01/$.02 games on pokerstars.

Well first I have to say that I have no job at the moment and shouldn't of been playing poker but had about 45 bucks on me. So I thought I'd sit down with about 30 in one of the .50/1 games around here. One of the hand I tried a bluff... bet the flop, my friend calls. Bet the turn, my friend calls. Bet the river... my friend turns over a K for top pair. He asks if that scares me... I just sit there and stare at the board and I think that is what gave away my bluff. So he calls... I ask to see his other card and he had a 3... soooo. Did he have a lack of respect... or just for sure know that I had nothing? He's a pretty decent player and I'm not sure if he got better... or lost respect for my bets. Another hand... I raise to 6 with AJ mainly not wanting to really see a flop because there were about 3 or 4 limpers. He calls with position on me with 7s10s. The flop of course is a good flop for me... hypothetically. A710. He fires out 15 and that's what I have left... I'm not putting him on AK or anything relatively high... he probably wouldl've reraised. BUT, I can put him on A10.. which I shrugged and said... if you have A10 you got me and he turns over 710. I like him calling the raise... but is he just straight up outplaying me? I used to give this guy advice but I think he got better and this is prolly the firs time I'm admitting getting outplayed in this game. AND, is there any advice someone can give me to NOT play poker... it's an addiction and I don't want to play without a bankroll because I think that's the worst thing you could do and that's sadly how I've been playing for the passed 3 years. So my options are ... 1.) Save up a bankroll 2.) Quit completely 3.) ???? help me out if there is another option lolThanks!
  10. I'm pretty new to PLO and thus still pretty ignorant. I was deep in a $5.50 + Rebuy tourny on PokerStars the other night when this hand occurred. I'm not sure if I played this poorly postflop or just got unlucky. With this in mind I put him on AAxx, KKxx, or QQxx (I'd only seen him raise a total of four pots preflop in 2 1/2 hours. With this in mind I decided to call his preflop raise thinking I might be able to take the pot down if he missed it. I'm especially interested in how you all think I played this hand on the flop. Did I overvalue my hand or just get unlucky?

  11. I was reading McEvoy & Cloutiers omaha book and they subscribe to the idea that one should never put in the first raise preflop in PLO, regardless of your holdings. Any thoughts? I see a lot of people getting themselves into a crapload of trouble making pot size raises preflop w/ AAxx or KKxx. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  12. yeah, it is, but there's no short cut. You just have to play a lot of hands. You'll figure it out eventually. Poker's so situational, it's not like someone can give you one trick or strategy to win all the time. Get good at figuring out what hands your opponants are playing and act accordingly. If you learn to do this you'll win a crapload of money. It took me a year to become a winning player. Best of luck bro. Rooting for you.
