  2. It depends how you play it. Sometimes I play strong hands pretty strong up to the river and bet a rather small portion of the pot at the end as a value bet just to get the guy to call. I've also called very fast, and checked, making it look like I was on a draw, then bet big on the end. It all depends on how you play the hand, and how strong you feel your opponent may be.

  3. Raise more preflop, and more on the flop right? I'm not sure if I played this aggressively enough. Thoughts?PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)BB ($24.50)UTG ($23.50)UTG+1 ($23.65)Hero ($18.95)MP2 ($25.40)CO ($24.65)Button ($16.10)SB ($4.75)Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Kclub.gif, Kdiamond.gif. 5. I know the call is kind of loose preflop, but I figured that if I get the right flop I can more than double up, and clearly, but the way he's betting, he has an overpair (I put him on QQ or JJ). Also, I was about to head out, so I said to myself "one more hand" and I end up here, so I felt the need to get involved. What do I do here? Play it conservative? Shovel in the rest since I'm already invested? Is it a bad call preflop?Reads on the SB: He just lost two big bots and is somewhat tilted / steaming. The first pot he lost he had an overpair, or two pair or something, someone flopped a set of 4s on the flop, and both of them get it all in right then and there, and he loses. A few hands later he had Kings and someone else had Aces, another loss.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)BB ($4.40)UTG ($6.95)UTG+1 ($28.50)MP1 ($3.40)MP2 ($25.35)MP3 ($41.55)Hero ($16.65)Button ($25.60)SB ($21.15)Preflop: Hero is CO with 6club.gif, 7club.gif. 6. Heya,Over the past month or so I've built up $15 to ~240 mostly playing 0.10/0.25 tables, and although this definitely has been profitable for me, I would like to move up in stakes at some point, without blowing everything in one buy-in. If I worked up to 2k is that enough for 1/2 NL? I consider myself a slightly above average player, and from what I've played in the 1/2 games online, it's more competitive, and for the most part, better players compared to the micro stakes. Any suggestions on bankroll management? Thanks.

  7. Thanks for all the replies. It was late last night, but from what I remember the guy was in a fairly big pot and took a big hit to his chip stack. He sat at 40-50 for awhile and just recently got about the same amount as I. Looking back on it, the reraise was just too small, and not needed. It seemed like a lot of hands that I came in for a raise, he would either call or reraise me, which was annoying because he had position in most cases. I wasn't terribly impressed with how he was playing up until then - I remember several times when I had a middle pocket pair, and the board would be like K22, or something along those lines. He would fire on the flop, I would call him, on the turn he would either check or bet a very small amount into the pot, and I would repop it or bet a reasonable amount and take it.

  8. I've been playing poker for about 5 months or so, and after thinking about this hand a bit more, I think I should have possibly mucked before the flop. On the flop I put him on either AK or AJ, possibly even JJ.
