  1. The difference in styles between online players and live B & M players....
About an hour ago, watching the first couple of levels of the WSOP at Daniel's table, there were a couple of hands in which Daniel raised to $150 and $300, and another player went all in for $5,000 and $10,000. When Daniel said "I bet $150 and you're all in for $5,000?" another player said, "that's poker!" Daniel then said, "No, that's not poker!"Seems like he had a few online players at his table.
  2. I'm sure that you're watching it on TV right now like I am. Even better, I like the hand when two players held Q9, and KJ, and the flop was 10 J K rainbow. They got all of their chips in on the flop and the player who held KJ said, "you've got a flush?" and Norman Chad said, "who are these people, and how can he have a flush?"Obviously, he meant to say, "you've got a straight?" Of course, the player with KJ boated on the river to win the hand.

  3. Drawing Dead in DM is clever enough to do this; but I don't think he carries it this far. He's too close to the mods, unless some fallout occurred. Nah, can't be.Teneight? It's probably a random idiot who's savvy enough to bypass the IP Ban.

  4. How has this guy not been IP banned?
In some ways, he adds to the entertainment factor of the forum.I kind of knew this guy a long time ago, and I asked him, "Hey man, how've you been doin'" He said, "Oh, nothin' much. What'chou been up to?" And I replied, "Oh, pretty good."And he just walked away nodding his head, unfazed.Same thing.
  5. who here would buy a poker figure of they were to come out like a phil ivey figure or a hellmuth figure me beng a doll collector i would buy 2 of each
TopDollar, are you looking for life-size dolls of Ivey and Hellmuth?Ron White, the comedian, said:

"They searched Michael Jackson's bedroom and found life-size dolls of little boys, one of them dressed in a Cub Scout suit. Innocent enough, but if they searched my room and found a life-size doll of a woman, everyone would assume I was fuc
    k
in' it. And they'd be right!"

  7. So this happened to me once (when I had a temporary mental lapse) and got me knocked out of a tournament, but I was wondering if doing this intentionally was a good strategy, or just unethical.I know that in a tournament, once you say "raise," you are bound to raise. So one time when I was playing, I accidentally said "raise" without realizing someone before me had acted. I had to then re-raise the raiser, he pushed, and I was then priced into the call and lost. My question is whether that can be done strategically, or if it's unethical to do so. For example, if I get dealt AA on the button, pretend to not pay attention, and if the blinds are 100-200 and someone had raised it to 1000, throw in 600 and say "raise." Then act like I didn't see the initial raise and reluctantly min-raise after having the table explain to me the rules of poker, fully expecting a re-raise all-in which I would gladly call.
Based on what I read in the original post, there's no mention of acting out of turn, as a couple of people misinterpreted from the post. Although you cannot throw in 600 and say "raise" (to make it a raise) you can say "raise" and throw in 600. You then have the option of making the minimum raise or more. Once you throw in 600 without saying "raise" first, it's a call. There's nothing unethical about it and it's not against the rules. Other players can read whatever they'd like into your actions as they would in any other play.

  9. You mean that you won a big hand with AA? I've done it before, but it doesn't happen very often. I don't like your min raises; especially preflop. Also, you appear to have won the hand yet the subject of your post is "Bad Hand, this ever happen to you" and it's in the "Bad Beats" forum for some reason?

  10. It's a tough hand to get away from in that situation but, as you figured out, with a raise and reraise ahead of you, you were behind. In a situation like this, it's usually best to be the first to bet and raise all in than to basically call all in. Yeah, I know your stack was a little bigger than the reraise. One exception to this is when I was in a tournament, there was a standard 3x BB raise, a few callers, and I looked down at 4 7 suited. I put the others on big aces, and I pushed for about 6x BB. I was right with my read - a couple of A J's & A 10's, and I wound up winning the big hand and finishing 19th out of 299 in a WSOP Circuit event. In a situation like this, I either want to have AK, a big pocket pair, or a hand that I believe is not dominated like suited connectors.

  11. If you've got a question of non-personal nature, you can post it and probably get an answer from Daniel or someone else who is knowledgeable pretty quickly.
