  1. So you have a friend in a Canadian city agree to put you up. You open a new (singular intended) because your US persona is gone and toast. You are now a bona fide tourist visiting Canada and on Canadian soil you can play on PS or FTP as long as you claim residence and can prove it.It will not be easy but doable. It will take a little work.I was in France a few hours ago and if I wanted to play FullTiltPoker, I would have to register at fulltiltpoker.fr because only licensed dot FR poker sites can operate in the French market. I picked up four poker magazines in French and 75%+ of the ads and stories were about dot.fr sites of every kind. The WSOPE has moved to Cannes this year which is interesting because ironically all the PS and FTP advertising is legal there ... except it is fulltiltpoker.fr & pokerstars.fr :club: Now think about it a minute ... what France has is probably the best case scenario for the US, but first PS and FullTiltPoker are going to have to settle this DOJ thing. My comment about VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) is an obvious way for some people to go but here is the bottom line for serious winning poker players in the U.S. ... if you want to play online poker you will have to take yourself out of the US and go to a country that allows you to play, and change your address with PS or FullTiltPoker. My suggestion of just registering your full name with a middle name in a new account was to avoid the problem of PS and FullTiltPoker deciding to not allow U.S. players to play even if they leave the U.S. to avoid potential troubles with the DOJ downstream.Banking arrangements are easy in Canada, Britain, France, etc, but they will take some work and a fixed address of some sort. I have been using a Bank of Montreal Mastercard forever to put money when needed on my FTP account, since my learning curve in PLO has been savage :ts and you get a $2.75 service charge for a $500 deposit. The debit says clearly FULLTILTPOKER and not some bogus florist etc. This being a forum, I just floated the idea as practical and included some (hopefully) useful data. I really feel for a lot of my friends that depend on poker for their livelihoods.
Fortunately I just got this email
Dear aucu,As you may have heard, due to recent developments in the USA, we had to make changes to our website address. We have moved the PokerStars website to www.pokerstars.eu. Our Support email address has also moved to support@pokerstars.eu.These developments do not have any impact on your ability to play real money games and tourneys on PokerStars - it is business as usual for all players outside the USA. Sit & Go's, Multi-Table Tourneys and cash ring games at all stakes and limit types are running normally. You can rest assured that player balances are safe.If you have any further questions, please contact us at support@pokerstars.eu. In the meantime, please continue to enjoy playing our games! We thank you for choosing PokerStars. The PokerStars TeamFind the Poker Star in you!
Setting up banking in a country that you do not have legal residency in, may be a no go in many places (Honduras, Nicaragua,,,,) with the exception of places like Grand Cayman where you need to provide them with a reason you are opening an account (such as I live in Mexico and don't trust the banks) and a banking reference (a letter from a bank stating that you have been a client in good standing for x years)Getting a utility bill in your name is easy (phone, power, gas, cable) as long as you are able to receive mail at said address, the bank will want this as well.If anyone really wanted to they could get a place in a Mexican beach town and set up shop to provide "residency" for USA players and pretend that a house was an apartment building with as many units as needed and a server that they could log on to and virtually play from out of the country. Should get a Mexican cell phone with international roaming to provide a phone number that customer service could call.Anyone doing this would have to be someone of good standing such as JC.I have no interest in doing this myself because I don't have the time and I'm no hard core player. This kind of thing would be much harder to pull off in Canada as pretending your house is an apartment building and getting custom made utility bills may be hard.Don't could on the USA government authorities acting logically just because there is revenue and jobs at stake, just look at what they have done to the offshore oil industry which is worth so much more.Making the jump to physically and fiscally move to a new country is a big decision that needs to be investigated and thought out.
  2. I think that US online poker players are going to learn VERY VERY quickly how a VPN (Virtual Private Network) functions. :club: They are cheap, you can log in a foreign city, and all you need is an address in the country you are logging into. Don't log in any city from France because they have the retarded "French only" government monopoly. If you registered as "Bob Smith" open a new account using your middle name "Bob Newton Smith (these are examples of course) and quite legitimately PS or FTP is off the hook. Your address should be a friend that you can visit and therefore you have a legit address. When I travel I play anywhere except France where it is blocked and now I will have to hook up to my VPN in Canada to play if I am travelling in the US.I live in Canada so not affected but I already have a whole bunch of friends that want to visit :ts ... if anyone wants info on Vancouver (free of charge of course) email me.Let's keep in percpective that on the road to poker regulation, this scenerio of US AG's foaming at the mouth shutting everything down is not an unforseen situation, and the reason that FTp & PS have been banging the drum in overseas markets with (ironically) freer markets than in today's USA.There is so much money in it for the governments regulating online poker that the prognosis for regulation is probably good. Let's just hope that the politicians understand the moral behind the fable about the goose that lays golden eggs and negotiates a settlement quickly because right now the DOJ is strangling the US goose ... but only the US goose.Just my two cents. The interent is full of VPN but do some research and pick a reputable one.
Over the years I've lived long term in three different countries and changed my address with poker sites each time, they always ask for a copy of a utility bill in my name at the new address as proof, which has never been a problem. So rather than opening a new account you may be able to "move" but you may have to set up some kind of banking arrangements as well outside of the USA.
  3. Agreed, it's a big call, but that's just it. I don't think any of us will ever see gold at $1200 ever again. What I'm saying is that I'm in the camp that believes there is no significant 'correction' to take place in this current range. All the indicators seem to suggest that gold will continue to rise and revalue as a secondary reserve currency.
Gold can still drop but I does seem to be re-claiming it's roll as the original reserve currency. For practical projections most of the mining industry is still using US$850-$900 gold as a average long term price for new projects and proposals, that's to play it safe and offer up a lot of blue sky.No one really thinks it's going back down to US$900 but as always there could be some convulsions.
  4. The Cons are the only gov IN HISTORY to be found in contempt of parliament. the usual conservative stuff, lying, coverups, non-disclosure of info, etc...they do not deserve to be voted back in. yet most of the public are idiots, so they just vote for the party they always have.
    Balanced point of view?
  5. Opposition parties voted down the government today, triggering the fourth election in 7 years.Conservative government lacked a majority so this was only a matter of time, they also lack a common touch and charisma.Liberals forced the election even though they are down in the polls and their leader is also a cold fish. One of the other two parties could have held up the government but feel now is the time for an election.Probable result will be another conservative minority with more seats, less liberals, more NDP and BQ. There could also be coalition of the left but it's touchy if the BQ is included because they are separatists. The good thing is that the election could be over in as little as 36 days.

  6. I like Antonio's play so far he is there to play, Vanessa is starting to click, liked the bluff on Doyle but her appeal is limited.Robl is a drag on the game, why did they let him play again after being such a drag on the Big Game? This game needs players like Tony G, Sammy F, PH or DN to sit down since the FTP guys are a goner.

  7. My name is aucu and I'm a news junky.I prefer Blomberg and the Economist for the straight up, CNN and Fox are in the mix but the editorial slant is obvious, I also follow AJ, RT (Russia Today) the editorial slants are variable but it's good to see how the story is being played "over there", Telesur (Hugo Chavez Channel) here the editorial slant meter is all the way over to propaganda machine, National Post (Canadian right Wing), The Globe and Mail (Canadian Left wing).
