That was certainly a special night.
When I go to a fast food restaurant, and my order comes to $6.28, I like to give the cashier $18.71. They look at me and say 'What's this?' and I say 'I'm all in'. They usually fold.

No. I forgot who said it but it was some website which said they will get 87 wins and sneak into the last wildcard

In Florida? Thatíll be really fun.

My sis will be down there. My Dad lives in Bradenton in the winters, about 10 mins away from the Pirates spring training facility. The golf course we played was right beside it, so saw some randoms (presumably not major leaguers yet?) in Pirates colours doing some training last week. Anyways, they go up to Dunedin for a game or two each year, I think.

The one thing I love about baseball is that a lot more teams have a chance to win a title. Preseason rankings are a lot more off than other sports.

Exciting time of year for sure

At first I was going to agree with you, then I thought about it, and really, I think its just as 'open' as hockey. Or at least in terms of who wins it all.
But maybe baseball does have more surprise teams that do very well or very poorly. Would be interesting to see an actual analysis.

The one thing I love is this time of year, and spring training and all that. I would love to get down to Florida one year for ST, that would be so cool.

Agreed that Hockey is pretty close. NFL has certain teams that canít win.
Obviously main beef is with NBA. It is mind boggling to me that at this late in the season I can bet on the Eastern conference leading Raps to win the championship at 14-1.

From my vast knowledge of the game, basketball is an individual sport disguised as a team sport.

basketball is a few things that contribute to it being more predictable.

It's a minor event sport. Each game is made up of hundreds of scoring plays. regression to the mean happens much more quickly in NBA, often over the course of a single game, but almost always over the course of a 7-game series. and therefore there is much lower variance, and the better teams win with far more regularity than other team sports.

It is also a "strongest link" sport. having the best player on the floor at a given time is much more important than having the best depth.

couple the second point with the fact that the superstars play 90+% of the game, and it becomes very difficult for upsets to occur over a 7 game series.

Exactly how I felt..

It was a sad day when Jaromir Jagr left the NHL again...He was the only player that is older than me.
