Daniel38 0
Hey guys, I'm currently 20 yrs old and go to school an hour away from Turning Stone (central NY). I was wondering if anyone has played there with any sort of frequency, and any advice of which cames to try and pick off there and what would be the best days to go. The past two times I've been there I've sat at the 100NL table, and twice there has been someone raising at least 20 preflop in the dark every hand (blinds 1-2, bring in of 2). I assume that this doesn't happen often and I've been lucky enough to snag a seat to the left both times. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on the level of play there (limit or NLHE I currently suck at Stud and Omaha, although I'm working to improve, and my HiLo skills are even more pathetic). Any imput on that would be helpful. I also play online at Pacific, which seems to be a really soft seat. thanks guys
erac22 0
never played turning stone, but from my limited 1-2 nl live experience, I can tell you that it is not uncommon for a standard preflop raise to be 20 dollars. I played at a game exactly like this at the Sands and at the Borgata in AC. If you know how to play limit, I would say sit at 2-4 and just play tag, nothin fancy. You will make money, and get free drinks.
Bizzle 0
I should make a copy-and-paste for these posts.Myself and kers2 probably have the most TS experience. I have been going for 6 years, started playing 1-3, quickly moved up to 5-10, and now find I can make slightly less off of the 100 max game with a lot less effort.Normally, 100 max raises are 10 or 12, raises to 20 mean that the people do not want to play postflop. Play TAG, don't do anything stupid with your original $100, and find a hand to double with. Ideally, you want a table with a few big stacks and a few small stacks-shows that some gambling has been going on.Seriously though, don't even think about making a bluff for any decent amount of chips until you have at least 150 or 200. Just don't do it.If you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to PM me or post em in the thread. I basically never had to worry about money in college, and left with a real nice bankroll because of how soft TS is.
Tantalar 0
turning stone casino is a joke.I requested a Lohl table, since its my main game. Well, lets just say that with 7 people on the flop turn, and river, theres going to be lots of variance. I have yet to meet one single person who consistently outplayed me in the tournaments or cash games that I played (I know, not saying much since it was 1-2 nl and 1-3 Lh and 3-6 lohl, but still. They are horrible.Pretty much, it is the worst poker ive ever seen. Everyone is a calling station. 2% of them are good players. You most likely wont see them, 4% are gus hansen wannabes who suck at poker and bluff too much

I have seen the occasional semi-solid player at the lower limits on a week day, but they are the exception, not the rule. You don't start to see semi-decent players until 10-20 at the earliest. Again, what day of the week you go does make a difference ... Friday evenings and Saturdays being the juiciest times.Curious ... where do you go to school?

Daniel38 0
I got to Cortland now, and since I'm 20 I don't think I can get into foxwoods, I was under the impression that it was 21 to gamble there and I look like im still 12.
