I really really want to but have to work, and no one really to watch it withSome good battles on the card it seems
It's a great card but I'm more anxious to see Gracie's comeback versus Hughes in 6 weeks time. Why must we wait so long.

Anybody watching this on Saturday??I think Griffin/Ortiz will be a great battle.I don't think Tito's taking him seriously enough...
I'm sure that tito is taking him seriously, its just that if Tito fights like he is capable, Forrest is going to be in major trouble as he hasn't fought someone like Tito ever and right now isn't the that elite level of fighter

"Tito Ortiz Wins by Majority Decision at 15:00 in the 3rd round "I havent seen this but i'm guessing Forrest put up a good fight as this wasnt unanimous. Any comments?
it was a very close fight and the last round could've gone either way. Basically, it didn't matter who won or lost because both guys put on a war

I didn't get to watch the fight, but I'm pretty surprised it was that close. Before this match I thought Tito was at an entirely different level.

It was one the best fights ive seen, and could have gone either way but the takedown in the 3rd did it for Tito even though griffin got up pretty fast. I wanted to see forrest win after the first round when he got his *** kicked and came back strong every round, like he said "i have to get fuked up before it sinks in that i have to fight" that was funny. The arlovski v. silvia fight was nuts. We all thought silvia was done when he went down (anybody else would have been), and then the uppercut looked so weak and he went down. Lets just say we were all stunned, but it was a great comeback!Gracie vs. Hughes is going to be awesome. Anybody going?

Tito was hurt, and Forrest could've exploited that easily but he didn't. Some call it class I call it stupid. You're dead wrong if you didn't think Tito would kick Forrest's knee if it was hurt. Same for anyone else in the world. That said, Forrest is great and it takes a TON to takeover the crowd like he did in Tito's own backyard. Forrest was pumped though, he took one of the best ever at that divisions' best and not only survived but came back to damn near win the fight. Hard to dislike the guy.Arlovski vs Sylvia was about what I figured, minus the fluke uppercut by big Tim. I didn't think it wouild get outside of the first minute. Arlovski has always had a weak chin, and it's exploited by a weak arm punch of Tim Sylvia. Arlovski has all the tools to be a top 3 MMA fighter in the world, but his chin is holding him back. You think Hunt, Fedor or Nog would even flinch on that punch? F no, but what's done is done and AA went for the kill, not being able to see or brace for that punch. You aren't meant to get hit on the chin. Props to Tim though for getting up after a BOMB.Fight of the night by far was Tito and Forrest, but I was also impressed to see Karo dominate, as well as Sherk out work Diaz. Diaz looked content without pushing the action, he must've thought he was winning or something.Overall it was OK, but 40 for that card wasn't worth it, especially when Pride charges 30 bucks. And Hughes is going to beat the **** out of Royce Gracie, I don't even know why they have this fight when he could be fighting GSP, Penn, Karo, or even Diego Sanchez. And to end this ramble: It's interesting to see the UFC "squirm" now. They thought they would do the same thing for the HW division like they did for WW and LHW with the show TUF. They didn't though, as Rashad Evans won, and then moved down to LHW anyway. They are definately going to have to bring in some top name guys from Japan and shell out some cash, like Fedor's brother. The HW division is a pile of **** right now, save for 2 fighters. A Cro-Cop signing would be the best thing to happen, as well as Aleks Emelieanako (sp) or even bring back Mark Kerr (fighting next month on the 6th, wes sims). Something has to happen though.PS - the fight you all should be waiting for is GSP vs Hughes.

ugh, I never want to see mark kerr in the ring ever again. The HW division will never be a big focal point for UFC under the current climate. They can't afford the guys that they need and generally all of the best fighters are in the lower divisions which UFC has a good hold of. I'm not sure that the HW division needs to be that important for UFC's success in the US. Its very hard to find quality HW's in general and right now, they aren't the ones that are drawing the buy rates
PS - the fight you all should be waiting for is GSP vs Hughes.
this is very true. But UFC really screwed up on booking this fight. Penn/GSP shouldn't have happened when it did, it should've happened down teh road. You have a big money fight in Penn/Hughes another one in GSP/Hughes and then you could've hit up GSP/Penn. That is like 16 months of booking right there for big money fights and yet they gave it away already and are gonna have to use 2 fights to get Penn ready for a Hughes fight, and who knows then if he will still be under contract

cynic that I am, almost seemed like Tito was half throwing that fight.Forrest doesn't do anything particularly well except take abuse. Sure that's a talent, but with the caliber of fighters training out there, you'd like to see more. He needs to hone his striking. Still, the dude has heart. And if you've never been on the bottom with someone ferocious and skilled on top of you, you don't know how frustrating/claustrophobic/obviously hazardous it can be. So much effort is expended in trying to either keep the guy from rearing back to throw, or attemtping to sweep.Shame a guy like Caro Parisyan doesn't get the prime matchups. Now here's a cat that can fight. Well versed. Sigh, I miss Frank Shamrock. Just like many things, the UFC has become bloated with its popularity and exposure to ignorant fans. Jeff Monson needs to prove himself to a UFC crowd; meanwhile he's one of the best grapplers the world has seen in decades. Admittedly, his MMA hasn't been sterling. Incidentally, I'll be attending a Rich Franklin seminar come June. And Arlovksi will be back with a vengeance.

Tito pounded on Forrest pretty good in Round 1 which I think won the fight for him. It was a good fight, but was nothing like Forrest vs. Stephan.Sylvia vs. Orlafski was just was it was made to be, 2 guys who like to stand up and throw. When you have that combo it is bound to be a quick fight. Sylvia was hurt and came through with a miracle punch to cripple Andre', then just beat on him.I can't wait until Hughes vs. Gracie. I see Matt winning by KO, as long as he doesn't do anything stupid and let Gracie get him in one of his crazy submissions. It will be a great fight!

KDawg - you're right. They're bringing back the LW division again, which could also be a bad thing.. nobody knows yet. I think they were just hoping the HW division would be ingnited like the LHW division was after the show TUF. They're running out of names though, so either they bring in more HW's or they lose their's to Pride. You also couldn't be more on the money about the Hughes/GSP/Penn scene, throw in guys like Diego Sanchez and a couple more and have a tourney like pride's GP. They'd be putting all of their money in one basket though, and I doubt they'd do that/ Too much to make off of PPV's.Big L Rip - you train MMA too? I used to, but I got a girl and got fat. If so where/who did you train with? What state are you in? I've trained at Warrior Way here in Michigan with some awesome names like Don Richards, Jake Steele, Dave Garcia, Dave Gomez and Dave Gardner. I rolled with Gomez and he's the real deal. Black Belt under Sualo Ribiero, also in my hometown (or close anyway). I'm either going to join his BJJ class or a boxing gym to get back into it. I just love fighting, but there's no future in it. And you're right about being on bottom, it sucks. Props to Forrest for taking everything Tito essentially had, and bouncing back to a damn near victory. I scored the fight a draw. Anyhow you said a Rich Franklin seminar , so I assume you're in Ohio, or by Cinci or Columbus. I'm from Toledo. I get great tickets to a sport fight show run by Gomez and co. so if you wanna come up to toledo sometime we can hit a show. Also I missed the KOTC in Mount Pleasant, lots of guys I used to roll with fought last month. :(LAS - Highes is going to destroy Gracie. That fight isn't making it out of round 1.EDIT:Hughes, GSP, Penn, Gracie (?), Sanchez, Karo Parisyn (sp) grand prix tourney would be ****ing awesome.

yeah I've trained in most of the major known styles/disciplines. I was into MMA long before it was a known commodity. My standup is mostly an odd mix of JKD concepts/Muay Thai. I fight southpaw despite being a righty, so it's always been hard to stay comfortable in a traditional boxing stance. My groundgame is sambo/submission wrestling primarily. Never had the patience for gi work in BJJ. Also hated, as silly as it sounds, all the rolling practice before each class. Throws/takedowns are definitely my weak point. I've trained mostly in NJ and NYC, but I found some good assets down in Virginia while I was in college as well. I appreciate the invite, but I'm back in NJ these days. The instructor of my current gym is a coach under Erik Paulson; I'm not quite sure how he orchestrated this seminar frankly. I'm annoyed I missed the most recent Frank Shamrock seminar, still my all time favorite.I think Royce is gonna surprise some people. Not saying he'll win, but that fight is gonna be competitive, or at least he'll survive. His skills are enough to at least neutralize a lot of Hughes' attributes.

My background is Wes Sims style, I show up knowing nothing and want some guys to beat my *** for fun? I thought everyone was going to be Tank Abbots and such, I was so nervous I could **** through a screen door. I do submission wrestling too, as well as muy thai. Kicks in MMA are becoming less used, so I was thinking of moving into a boxing gym to pick up my footwork among other things. My weakpoint would be working from the someone's guard. I wouldn't say I'm great at it, but it pales in comparison to my side mount/stand up. I have a concrete head and some nasty side mount control. I know someone usually doesn't say guard is their weak point, but I feel like I could get better. Probably due to my failure of being able to strike sitting up in it, due to infant arms. :(2 last things: Butterfly guard is the ****, and Gi's suck ****.

I generally use a rubber guard. It's always come naturally to me. And it really throws off guys who've never seen it before.I think there's a resurgence of good kicking/striking in MMA. But it never hurts to have good boxing handspeed and upper body movement.
