  1. I was in the above situation the other day in a live tourney. Early position blinds at 200-400 as big stack (I have about 35 to 40K) I raise to 2k witk 10 J spades hoping to pick up the blinds or get some action with a decent drawing hand, Cut off goes all in for 7K and SB all in for about 5k. of course I should call the extra 5K, but for shits and giggles I expose my hand before I verbalize my call or push chips as I have the last action. Some **** out of the hand at the table says my hand is mucked and the supervisor is called and inforces the rule much to the dismay of the dude in the cut
  2. Call the Monte Carlo and ask for the poker room rate. they will transfer you to the poker room and if you book through them I believe you will get a rate for less about 50 - 60% of the regular rate. Nice hotel / rooms and poker room and still a decent location on the strip Across from the MGM. Orleans is nice but way off the strip expect to rent a car or spend $$'s on cabs. Circus is about the same quality as IP but location is much worse.IP would be the ideal hotel for a first trip on a budget. but dont expect a lot in room quality etc...Good luck!
  3. ceasers noon tourny is good. Buddy I was with on Superbowl weekend was 2nd in the Monday tourney. Lots of play for 130$ 40 min levels are great. Watch the tax withholdings though.... from what i understand Ceasers and related casinos withhold 30% on tourny winnings for anything over $600? Ask before you play what the withholdings are... tax withholdings for tournies are different at each Casino. Makes sense to play where you will receive the greater amount of cash if you final table...
  4. At the MGM in Vegas superbowl weekend. playing 1/2NL bought in for the max $200 and a few hands in got it all in with KK against a short stack (aprox $75). He had position, and anyhow he turned over AA.. I say nice hand. Flop is KKA, blank turn and river.NO bad beat / high hand of any kind at MGM. Figures I get in to a hand like this at the only casino i have ever played at that doesnt have some type of bad beat / high hand pay out.good session there anyway... 1.5 hours and cashed out $500. Got to love the drunks at the MGM on superbowl weekend!

  6. Nice... Superbowl weekend is always very busy in Vegas... This will be the 5th year in a row that we have had headed to Vegas for Superbowl. Last year the Southcoast put on a good event with $3 beers etc... be sure you decide where you want to watch the game early as most of the sportsbooks etc.. are either sold out or closed for a private party... Like I say, SouthCoast was good last year... our group is going to head there again... Have a great trip... and enjoy the donks at the tables... I know i will be staying somewhat sober on Saturday night to be sure to try to finance the trip. Al the
  7. Powerful circa WW1 poem by a Canadian who fought in Europe. Be sure to take a moment of silence at 11:11 AM tomorrow.Lest we forget....In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch
  8. Are you talking about the single table where top 2 win entry into the super satalite? It looks like the single table sit n gos are 60$ ($52 +8) with the top 2 getting a $260 entry in to the super that run Biweekly. The super is larger field tourny with one entry awarded for each 20 $260 (250 +10 ) buy in (entry to all three main events $5000 total inclu entry fees).I guess you could use the winnings for the higher $$ satalites or direct buy in etc....I'm in... lets figure out a date to set up the table... sooner rather than later
  9. Stayed twice... not the best place for quality but good value if you arent big on fancy suroundings.Location is great... and who spends a ton of time in the room anyway I also heard that the IP was sold and is scheduled for demolition... give it a try before they blow it up!
  10. Going to be in winnipeg for a few days next month. 12. In my final table experience at live tournies i have only made a deal once. In this circumstance it was a 60 person $50 "early bird" tourney with a very fast structure. A fellow finished in fourth for $300 leaving the last three of us fighting for the following: 1st $1500, 2nd $600, 3rd 450. Blinds were huge considering, and seeming we were all fairly close in chips, a three way chop was in order for $850 each. With such a large difference in cash, why risk it on a suckout?another time, three buddies and I were in the same tourney. All of us still in down to the final 5 tables, top 15 pay. Dea
  13. Did you check on the Tropicana??? They have a nice party and such. Very reasonable on price. Also, nice place too stay since it is close too many nice places. Across the street is MGM, New York, Luxor, Excalibur. I believe it is about half the price of the MGM also.No never have stayed there... but like I said this is our 4th annual trip for the Superbowl weekend. We have stayed at the IP, Excalabur, off strip at the Orleans, and this year at the Stardust. Hotel location has never been a huge concern for us but price has as Superbowl weekend is a very popular weekend and the room rates at MGM
  14. LOL... yah didnt do very well in that FCP tourney... Maybe I should give him a call? Got his number...lol. Dont see why he would turn away 6 fellow Canadians who love poker, football, and hockey. But then again, my 1.5K US 6 day Vegas and LA bankroll wont be too impressive to him
  15. Hello all...Anyone from Vegas out there that knows a good "locals" bar, pub, etc.. that would be a good place to watch the Superbowl? This will be our 4th annual trip to Vegas on Superbowl weekend and have already done the casino / strip parties. Good food and drink specials are a must! And some talented service staff would be nice as well! Thanks for your input!Go Seahawks!!!
