Need Help With Mp With Jj

Recommended Posts

This one here, I feel like I completely $%^& this up. Open should be fine, but maybe too large?? After the add-on break. No reads on BB. Is this a perfect situation to always c/bet here, and if so how much?? After going back over this, I am thinking I should have c/bet to ~2k. If villain calls, give up? As played my thinking when he bet 300 into that pot was he was taking a crazy thin shot at it, but maybe wanted me to r/r and then call/shove after that. I tried to get to showdown cheap, but after going back and looking I really screwed the pooch by checking IP. How is it best to play 10 JJ and even QQ(?) in a situation like this where you have an over card on board, and you and villain are evenly deep enough?? With BB stack size, is he just completing ATC here???feral_cow_icon.gifFeral Cow PokerPokerStars No-Limit Hold'em ($3.00+$0.30) t150/t300 ante t25 - 9 players ($3r-180)BB: t8,028 UTG: t8,060 UTG+1: t11,034 MP: t7,925 (Hero)MP2: t10,580 HJ: t4,415 CO: t2,180 Button: t2,740 SB: t8,735 Preflop: (t675) Hero is MP with :jh:4h (9 players)UTG calls t300, UTG+1 folds, Hero raises to t900, MP2 folds, HJ folds, 2 folds, SB folds, BB calls t600, UTG foldsFlop: (t2,475) :ts:5c:club: (2 players)BB checks, Hero checksTurn: (t2,475) :3h (2 players)BB bets t300, Hero calls t300River: (t3,075) :qh (2 players)BB bets t900, Hero ??? I have a very odd feeling you are losing here.Probably to a hand like A T or TT.That being said, Trueace is right. I'm pretty sure you have to call here.
I would actually be more worried about a stupid 8 that could be in his range. Really don't think he bets like this w/ an ace...i see people play their mid pairs weird like this as a bluff and are just being silly...so i really think we have the best hand a lot of the timebut def with the price we have to call :club:

Agree with a call, but I think this is more often a "hur dur, my A7s must be good because he checked the flop" type of thing. I seem to run into this a lot with folks calling raises from the BB with low or mid-A. If you don't bet, they assume their A is good all the way through from there.

So, is it better to c/bet the flop here and just end it there, or play the line like I did and just cruise through the hand???

Hmmm i think on the flop you need to put out some sort of feeler bet being there's just you and the BB in, and you having the upper hand. Being played out as it is... i'd probably fold.

I probably c/bet this flop with almost my entire range, but I think I check behind here with JJ for a few reasons:1. We have showdown value.2. Our hand is going to be good very often.3. A single bet on the flop is almost never getting him to fold an ace if he has one. Therefore every subsequent bet is most likely turning your hand into bluff unless you have a very good read that he'll be calling much lighter than top pair.If he bets bigger on the river, I think it's a pretty standard fold, but I call here getting about 4.4:1.

cbet flop, probably shut down afterwards. keep things easy on yourself by keeping the pressure on the villain

As played, it's a callC-bet is probably a good ideaBet sizes post flop are super gay in this hand
O.k. as far as a c/bet size, about how much?? I was thinking about ~2k because I wanted to show a little strength and maybe get a weak A to fold, and if he called that then shut down, or if he raised, fold, unless he was known loose villain. ~1k maybe looks to weak, and you could drag along a weak A here, then would have to make a 2nd barrell decision.I agree his bet size was super gay. I almost wanted to r/r the turn, but then again were back to ^^^^.

So basically checking behind with 10 JJ QQ is o.k., with maybe doing a small c/bet here and hope you can get a fold. Or is it better to just call any small bets that villain may throw out, and hope he is bluffing the A. I guess there really is no solid choice, other than to not get spewey here.

I guess this is why they call you TrueAce. Villain had 89off.

Welcome to $3r 180 turbosThat being said, I'm pretty sure he would play a weak ace the same way.*edit* Actually...I take that back after re-accessing the hand.*edit 2* Actually, I don't....Those $3 rebuys are screwy. Villain Could have J2o

Other than raising a little more pre you played it fine. You are good more than you need to be on the river.

I don't think I cbet this because he's never folding a better hand on the flop. There's only 2 "bad" cards that can come on the turn (K/Q), and we can basically just call his small bets for the same cost w/o bloating the pot, and if our JJ is good the whole way, we make more in the end.In this case, as it turns out he has 89, so maybe a cbet works, but I think in general, your line is fine.

This for sure. I agree with TA about the call. But I don't expect to be ahead nearly as often. Garbage aces make foolish calls, then fire out a couple thin value bets when our post flop line is that of a corrupted broadway pocket pair. The problem is the value betting is so thin, since their hand is so marginal, you pretty much have to pay them off. And you really can't bet them off this hand unless you just go into overdrive firing steady barrels...but that is a major long term losing plan.Edit: just saw the results....the guy with 89 can just suck a fat one.

Yes, that is what made me go back and second guess myself, but then I guess it is just being results oriented here. c/bet more than likely would have got him off of it, and would not have let him catch 2 miracles. Im just glad he let me off cheap at the end. He really could have got a bit more out of me, especially if I had AK or caught 2 pair. At the time I did not want to inflate the pot like a few suggested above. I guess my original thinking was correct, but against certain villains c/betting or barrelling could be an option.

The line's fine. C-betting flop smallish is good too, but it puts you in a bad spot for setting up the super donk line of:1. you c-bet flop, he flats.2. check/check turn3. villian fires river donk and you cuss. This pot was kept small, and yeah, he sucked out but you got away relatively cheap and this river at that price is a call from me every single time.
