  1. Results aside, I like the fold based on the preflop action. I wasn't quite as worried as you about MP. If he's a good player he's also noticed the TPWK hands the BB has bet aggro and thinks if he closes the action the donkey will bet off all his stack. This opens up his range of possible calling hands quite a bit..AJ, AT, and any good draw. Sure, the normal play is to raise and isolate, but then he might lose his opportunity to stack the donkey. Of course MP could be slowplaying as well. Just too many people preflop to put it all in with one pair. I don't blame you for folding at all.
  2. Even if tight donkey has a legit hand you have such a strong draw that you are in good shape against a lot of legit hands with two cards to come. The only thing you are way behind is a set. Your c/c on the flop changes this though. I'd put max pressure on the flop. The way you played it I would probably just call the turn bet and cross my fingers. I've been gone for a while. Royal, are you just playing around with small stakes, or did you go do something silly? You seemed like a pretty solid player to me.
  3. Not everyone playing 100/200 has worked their way there from 1/2. Some rich bored people that love to gamble aren't going to waste their time at the lower limits. It just doesn't give them the thrill they are looking for. While 100/200 may be a high limit for some, it's all reletive to how much money you have. Not everyone new to the 100/200 game just carried their bankroll over from 50/100, some have money from things other than poker. I agree that there is probably a couple brutally bad players with very limited experience. The trick is to make sure you know which players those are and explo
  4. Okay, you made a mistake and got knocked out in 8th. Up until then you were playing well enough to make through a massive field filled with top players to make it to the final table. Shake it off, then take a small part of that new found wealth and get back in there. Strike while the iron is hot!!! This time don't make a mistake and win 1st, then send me a check for 10% for my good advice. We're all pulling for you. Most of my tournament wins come in batches. If you're anything like me you should even play a single table satelite to the main event. You never know.....
  5. Vancouver / Fraser Valley area.I have loads of friends that play, but none are serious players and are not exactly challenging enough to help me improve my game. I'd love to play some better players live without having to go all the way to Vegas to do it. PM me and I'll try to get things started here.
  6. Oops, sorry. I wouldn't put hero on AA here either. I think Hero is mearly trying to represent an A or two pair since a Q was the high card on the board before then, making it hard for KQ to call. You can't get too tricky at these levels as most opponents aren't going to be that observent to even see what you are tring to do. I'm oviously not even observent today to play at these levels...maybe I should take the night off.
  7. I didn't say heavy implied odds. It's not like he has a monster stack left or would necessarily call a monster bet. I meant that there is implied odds to consider. I agree, if you have heavy implied odds then a semi-bluff is wrong. If slight implied odds and a very marginal call to start with, well then if a semi-bluff would work a good percentage of the time then I'd rather take the pot down there. I don't think the semi-bluff would work here as I stated before. You are right about the 50% to call. Rough day and I'm a little off. The 18% gap in equity would make a call technically incorrect. F
  8. I don't think it's a horrible call on the turn. I'd be more concerned with his call on the flop. His odds on the turn are 15-31 or about 1-2. He's calling 6.25 into a 12.25 pot, also basically 1-2. He's almost has pot odds if he wins everytime he hits (I suspect some of his outs may be tainted). If the pot odds aren't enough to call the implied odds should be. Villian seems to have something he's going to call another bet with if the straight or flush comes on the river.I'd almost suggest a semi-bluff raise on the turn, except for two things. The limits are too low for your opponent to fold A-
  9. ?? am I missing something or reading the hand wrong? He had a flush draw and open ended straight draw. That's more than 8 outs although we don't know if all are clean. And the pot was $6.00 after the flop and called a 6.25 raise on the turn.
  10. No, i didn't mean in terms of pot odds. Obviously he'd need 20-1 odds to hit his two outer on the river if he knew what you had. He's already put so much into the pot he's not going to fold his last $17 in case you are bluffing or a donkey betting with Qx. I also like a check raise on the turn better because if he is on a draw I have a better chance of him putting his money in with one card to come. If he misses his draw on the river and has nothing he'll fold.
  11. I don't think the ones critizing your turn play are critical of the check, but he's pot commited. If he's got anything decent at all he's not folding if you check/raise the turn instead of check/call. The result would have been the same either way though. And yes he did play his KK terribly.
  12. Not everyone here plays like DN. DN might like the raise. I'd go broke trying to emulate his style. He's a great player and embassidor for the game. There is a lot of great discussion on this site. That's why I'm here and not because I want to be DN. I don't know why this post sounds pissy. It's not supposed to. I was thinking that when I first read it. Maybe it's 4/8 pennies or 4/8t. I just thought it would be rude to say anything since I don't know the guy...but since you brought it up.....
  13. Agreed, and that's probably the only reason Betchel called. He must have thought that if Bonnetti was strong that he would bet for value instead of trying to chase him off the hand. That's a big if though in this situation.Just for the record I fold the straight even faster that bottom set if I'm Betchel. At least with the set you have have redraws if you are wrong.
