  1. Playing tight in loose games.Starting hand guidelines for beginnersYou want give Omaha HL a try, and you want to play tight against a sea of maniacs, but you don’t know how. In Hold’em the principle of hand strength and position are pivotal to decided whether you should play a hand. In the early position, you have several books recommending that, you don’t bet unless you have cards like A-A, A-Ks. K-K, Q-Q, A-K Q-Ks. Some books also refer to playing tight by playing only tens and picture cards, when you are playing from any position. This strategy is often use by new player in order to
  2. FSN/NBC do a bad job explaining their tournament structure and advertizing their show.Gus was the luckiest dog I have ever seen at that final table.E-Dog did a great job at doing the color comentary.
  3. I've read Mike Cappletti's book and thought it had sound advice, but I found two older books by Boston and Shane Smith that I thought were better. They explore the concepts of negitive value hands in Omaha HL, which has saved me a lot of money, and playing for the scoop, which has made me a lot of money.I saw Super Systems 2 at Barnes and Noble yesterday.
  4. Well I am 50!! And live in New Hampshire. I hope that twenty two year old is not my daughter.
  5. You won't believe how many times I heard that one, especially from myself. Omaha HL is a river game. With 45 cards out of 52 in play, it not hard to imagine that you need big hands to win the high and that card that wins comes on the river. I am always worried when I flop a big hand, because I know it can go south during the turn and the river.
  6. Look for places that have poker rooms and call. They have more info.My nephew stayed at a place(Luxor, I think) and had to play 4 hours a day at the poker table and got a discount. There are not as many poker rooms, in Vegas as you think. I was planning a trip this pass December and was surprized to see how few there were. I thought they were in every casino.
  7. With the onslaught of poker on TV people are exposed to players that play a loose aggressive strategies. This may work in advance poker tournaments, but will leave the newbie broke, before he can form a true appreciation for the game of poker. Adopting a tight aggressive style will help the newbie become profitable. These are strategies that are promoted in beginner books by Helmuth, Jones, and Krieger, and Warren. Now Barry’s book takes off, where these book end. It’s not a book that has formulas for calculating pots odds under all condition but it has advice that will help you make decisions
  8. Eight grand!! When I run out of toilet paper I wipe my a-s-s with eight grand. Nine if I had jelly.I can think of two letters that describe this showPU
  9. Overall I thought he did a great job as an analyst, but there were about five or six too many Quack, Quack references and his hands were flying around. He look like he needed some work on his lead in, but for a non-professional broadcaster he did a great job.Too bad for Karina Jett, getting sucked out on the river like that, on the final hand. I would of love to see her win.
  10. Online I play 3 tables at .25-.50 or $.50-1.1.00+.10 SNG NL Holdem2+.20 and 5+.5 SNG NL Omaha8b and limit Omaha 8b$1-5 multitable tournaments in Limit holdem, Limit Omaha 8B, NL Holdem. When I leave a site because I received there bonus dollars. I usally leave less than $5 and play the .02-.04 tables. People there are very chatty. Live games I play about 3,000 hand a month. I play just to play and it hasn't cost me a dime in the last 6 months.
