That's true. I was thinking of it more as if I check and he bets, I'll call which loses one bet when I'm behind. If I bet, he could raise. I guess I should be folding to a raise though.

Get to showdown as cheaply as possible by check/calling after the flop.

I'm always unsure of what to do in these situations. Is this a spewy/too aggressive way to play this hand? Or should I be looking to get to showdown as cheaply as possible by check/calling? I know it's very read-dependant, but if I have no reads, how should I play this?PokerStars 0.10/0.20 Hold'em (8 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)Preflop: Hero is BB with J , J . I'm not sure they're thinking that much at .02/.04. I'd fold the turn after it's raised. -
Couldn't find a hand coverter sorry. I'm very new to stud... getting kinda sick of holdem so thought I'd try stud for a while. I did some reading on starting hands and what's playable, but not on actually playing them. So critique away. Personally I think I played it too passively, but I'm still very new to reading the board and what value to give my hand.PokerStars Game #17904798409: 7 Card Stud Limit ($0.04/$0.08) - 2008/06/04 - 03:21:42 (ET)Table 'Turais II' 8-maxSeat 2: Roo6339 ($1.50 in chips) Seat 4: SuperDF ($3.23 in chips) Seat 5: beattys06 ($0.54 in chips) Seat 6: alisa0708 ($1.17 in

Far out! Wrong forum NOOB!I don't think I'd raise that turn and as played I'd check behind on the river. I think he's calling here with any club.

.10/.20 Kq, Pair Of Q On An Ace High Board.
Roo6339 replied to Roo6339's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
Nuh, it didn't even cross my mind... I try to keep it simple. I know check/raising's good and everything, but in a spot like this I think it's best for me to keep it very simple or I'll end up outplaying myself. -

How about the flop if MP3 bets? Call? I had planned to, but I'm iffy about it. Never really know what to do in those spots.I guess it's read dependant if he'd really bet jacks or worse on that flop. -
Deposit more than maybe?

Why wouldn't you c/r? You don't think whoever has the lead is gonna keep betting?
-
I don't think these people would bluff a missed draw often enough. A check/raise on an ace usually stops most people from bluffing the river since they know they're gonna get called. Maybe I'm giving my opponents too much credit.
