Down to the last 2 tables and I am sitting with 7.5 k approx with 300/600 blinds .. The tables have been playing the same since the tourney started.. standard raises usually never thin the field out. You have to make it like 5x BB at least to get someone to fold.. 3+ players seeing a flop regularly.. Anyways I picked up JJ UTG and it was the first hand I saw in a while so I just pushed it.. I'll give you the HH to see what happened. ** Game ID 1234375097 starting - 2007-02-28 21:51:14** Canadian College Poker Championship[787605]:Table 1 [Multi Table Hold 'em] (600.00|1200.00 No Limit - MTT) Real Money- GALINAI123 sitting in seat 1 with $2232.08- tatavarti87 sitting in seat 2 with $7440.00- pokerppoker sitting in seat 3 with $22298.68- ComptonMasta sitting in seat 4 with $40515.35- Dolente sitting in seat 5 with $9660.74- Mike0716 sitting in seat 7 with $57461.71 [Dealer]- Ayaic sitting in seat 9 with $6047.50Ayaic posted the small blind - $300.00GALINAI123 posted the big blind - $600.00** Dealing card to tatavarti87: Jack of Diamonds, Jack of Spadestatavarti87 went all-in - $7440.00pokerppoker called - $7440.00ComptonMasta foldedDolente went all-in - $9660.74Mike0716 foldedAyaic reconnectedAyaic went all-in - $6047.50GALINAI123 foldedpokerppoker called - $9660.74pokerppoker shows: Ace of Spades, Ace of DiamondsDolente shows: 10 of Spades, 10 of DiamondsAyaic shows: 9 of Diamonds, 9 of Clubs** Dealing the flop: 6 of Clubs, 9 of Spades, 10 of Hearts** Dealing the turn: 10 of Clubs** Dealing the river: 7 of ClubsDolente wins $25990.00 from the main potDolente wins $29267.50 from side pot 1Dolente wins $33708.98 from side pot 2End of game 1234375097Obviously it didnt work out.. but I just felt like any raise would get called anyway and I would be pot committed.. I guess what happened gives you an idea of what the play was like even near the FT.I was just wondering if this push is ever profitable in this situation? What would be the right play here.. limping? If so, should I be calling raises? I know these are just freerolls but I am trying to qualify so I would appreciate any advice.. thx!

lol that hand is pretty insane under any circumstances.I don't hate pushing in freerolls like this, because you'll probably get called by a lot of smaller pairs and hands like A8+, KQ, etc... marginal hands.turns out you were 2nd best preflop, and 3rd best w/ it all over... lol.At least you lost to quads!

Yeah I like the push... Against competition like this don't fool around with big pairs - Shove and watch the smaller pairs/weak hands call, and laugh when they suck out. And if you run into a bigger pair, then consider it a cooler.

You made the right play IMO with your stack the way it is in this situation. With a green stack and the table the way it has been, I would almost be tempted to call for set value. This is not the time though. Unfortunate you had this hand in poor position as it was guarnateed you would get lots of calls. Not sure a cold deck like that happens very often but it most circumstances you know you have a high chnace of doubling up or better.
