I have had trouble picking spots to bluff in. This looks like a reasonable spot to rep a straight.

Thoughts?

So after a long break from playing online (black friday essentially) I have decided to try to play and to play more seriously than I did prior. I have mostly been a recreational player. I play 3 to 4 times a month live at my local casino, and have played the occasional small buy in tourny (up to $300 buyin). When I played online I never used a Hud, and stayed away from a lot of no limit online since I felt that I was at a disadvantage to players who used a HUD. Even today I still play more O8B than NL holdem when I play live, simply because the players at my local casino are so bad at omaha 8.

For a variety of reasons I find myself having the time to play more online poker. I set up an account at ACR and made a deposit. I decided this time I want to play 6 handed no limit, and mutitable. I have been playing 25 NL 4 tables, and I am using a HUD. I played about 4k hands and was up $25. So I decided to read some articles by Doug Polk, and others, and try to switch up my play. I quickly burned through $200 in about 500 hands.

So the question I have, does anyway have any history with how Doug's system works and if it is really a winning system? Is it worth the pain as I attempt to learn to play his style?

I know this a non-specific post, but I would say that typically I have a played an aggressive position focused style. Doug's system has me defending the blinds more and checking back the flop when in position in spots where I wouldn't normally do these things. This is making it harder for me to put people on hands in later streets and I am making bigger dollar mistakes later in the hand. (bluffing into the nuts, hero calling when I shouldn't, etc.)

#3757679 How To Bluff For Real ? Don't Let Me Down ...

Your story has to make sense. The person you bluffing has to believe you have a hand that can beat them. If you bet all the way on an Ace high flop, it would make the villian believe you have an ace. Details of the hands you attempted bluffs would help.

#3753747 Thoughts On Pokerstars - Critic And Feedback

Posted by blakheart on 21 February 2017 - 04:38 PM in General Poker Forum

I agree a lot with Isidoros points- just add my 2 cents

1. Acquiring Full tilt-
This was done to convince US authorities that Pokerstars was a good actor whenever the market reopened in the US. You see the value know that Poker stars is back in new jesey.

2. Copying PartyGaming model
I don't see why this bothers you? You certainly don't have to play, and they will make money off of the gambling. The more diverse revenue streams they have the better that is for you, since they will not be reliant on rake as the only source of revenue.

3. Protecting weak players
This mindset is the foolish thought of many players. You really don't want to drive the weak players out. I would rather sit in a Vegas 2-4 game on New years eve with a bunch of drunk tourist then grind a 5-10 game with a bunch or pros. You want to play against weak players. Otherwise, sooner or later you are the weakest player in the game.
